Thanks, Sasha has grown up, she has a family, she is a totally different person from who she was 18 years ago. Yeah Vicky and Rah are good people, they will have a role in the future, but I didn't want to introduce them abruptly.

Yes, Rich...I write too. For God sake I am Polki I have an opinion about everything. Read the first 21 parts I think you will like it. It is a different FF. Also now I only update once a week so you will have plenty time to catch up.

Dear Lovely Readers in Maneetland,

Lets see where to start from. I know some of you are upset that I am only updating once a week. I am sorry about that but I am enjoying other things along with writing. However, I always try to give you all great updates so I am sure you all will understand. Plus there are so many other wonderful FFs out there that you guys can read while waiting from me to update. 😃

Lets talk about Friday's episode. I loved my munda, I think he did the best thing in the situation. He found himself in a difficult situation and he reacted like a human. I have already put my thought on the Maan bashing threads, I am not going to repeat myself here. But my munda was right.

So no more waiting for you all, the next update is ready.

Part 23

The sun shone through the window, Geeta squinted with her eyes still closed, arrrggghhhh! who opened the blinds, she got out of bed and moved towards the window to close the curtains. She opened her eyes slightly to find the curtain, but was taken aback by the beauty of the gardens that the hotel was set in. There were roses everywhere, all colors, all types, all sizes, she wondered if this is what heaven looked like, if it were real. She stood there is awe and just tried to guess how much time it took to maintain all the plants.

She looked at her watch and was surprised that it was already 11am, check out was in an hour. She woke Radha up and called the front desk. She hoped that if she asked nicely they would let her check out late. There was no way the two of them would be ready and packed in an hour.

Picking up the phone, she said a little prayer. She heard the receptionist on the other end.

Receptionist: Hello, how may I help you?

Geeta: Yes, we are staying in the private room and I know that check out is at 12pm. I was wondering if we could check out a little late without being charged for another day. You see we are students and money is a little tight. We would greatly appreciate any help from your side.

Receptionist was a little confused, she had spoken to the receptionist that had checked in the girls the day before and he had told her Mr. Khurana had told that anything the girls wanted was to be provided. They were not to be charged and he believed that one of the girls was probably Mr. Khurana's daughter. She couldn't understand that if the girls knew that they were to live here for free why were they concerned about check out times. She looked around to see if there were any notes left by the receptionist from the day before, she spot a small sticky and read it, it said that Mr. Khurana does not want to the girls to know that they are getting special treatment, be professional.

She answered Geeta, "Ms. Khurana, sure you can check out a little later, is there anything you may require. I totally understand your plight, sometimes it is hard to check out on time."

Geeta, "Thank you so much, you don't understand what you have done."

Receptionist, "No problems, we are here to help our guest, after all we want them to feel at home away from home."

Geeta got off the phone and checked if Radha had woken up. Of course not, Radha was still asleep. She turned to Radha and yelled at her.

Geeta, "Radha wake up, we have to get going, we need to get to Shimla today, stop snoring and wake up"

Radha, "Let me sleep, please 5 more minutes, promise I will wake up in 5 minutes."

Geeta, "No you have to get up now, the hotel is already kind enough to let us check out a little later, lets not take advantage of the kindness."

Radha, "Fine, fine" she got out of bed. "Are you happy now?" she said grogilly.

Geeta, "Yes, I am. Lets get ready, pack and leave."

The girls got ready and started to pack. Once finished, they were ready to leave but Geeta asked Radha to wait for a minute.

Radha, "Why, so we need to wait?"

Geeta, "I need to do something before we leave. Just give me a few minutes."

Geeta went to the notepad that sat on the nice regal desk in the room and lifted the first page, she proceeded to write on the second page.

Radha, "What are you going?"

Geeta, "People don't write letters anymore, my mom always writes a letter for the next guest when she stays in a hotel. I think it is nice"

Radha walked closer to where Geeta was and noticed that she was wrting on the second page.

Radha, "That is a nice gesture, but why the second page?"

Geeta, "Because if the cleaning staff see something written on the first page, they will change the notepad, but if the letter is on the second page, the next guest who decides to write in the notepad will most likely come accross the letter."

Radha, "Oh! intersting. I will let you finish the letter, while I go and put our stuff in the car."

Geeta, "Okay"

Radha left with their stuff and Geeta continued to write the letter.

Dear Guest,

I stayed in this room prior to you, I just wanted to say that I hope you have just as wonderful a time as my friend and I had here.

This hotel did make me feel at home, although prior to us getting the room we had a little problem, however once everything was sorted the stay here was nothing but nice. The staff is friendly and the view from the room unbelievable.

The food was delicious. Reminded me of my mothers cooking, and trust me that is a compliment, my mother is a really wonderful cook and although you may think I am partial, I have to tell you that there is no reason for me to lie.

Not many people write letter anymore, so I hope my short letter to you is pleasant for you to read.

Have a great stay.

Once finished she replaced the first page back and looked around the room one last time. She went to reception and returned the keys, she tried to pay but was told that the room was complimentary due to the hassle she and her friend were put through the day before. Geeta accepted the complimentary room but insisted that she pay for the food at least.

After much arguement, the receptionist gave in and accepted the money for the food. She hoped that this wouldn't get her in trouble with Mr. Khurana. After all they had clear instructions to not charge the girls for anything.

The receptionist decided to call Mr. Khurana once the girls left.

Maan, "Hello"

Receptionist, "Good Morning Sir."

Maan, "Good Morning, is there something you would like to talk to me about, did the girls leave, did they have a good time?"

Receptionist, "Yes, Sir the girls did leave, however Ms. Khurana insisted on paying for the food that they had consumed. I tried to dissuade her, but she wouldn't listen, she was getting aggitated, so I charged her and accepted the money. I know you gave us strict instructions to not accept any money from them but there was nothing I could do. Also from the looks of it, I can say that they did have a nice time. Although we didn't talk about it."

Maan, "That is okay, I know that she can be a little difficualt, don't worry you are not in trouble. Thank you for calling me. Bye."

Maan hung up and decided to call Geet to she if she had heard from Geeta. Before he could do so, his phone rang and he noticed that it was Adi's number. He picked up but waited to make sure that it was only Adi on the phone. He was right to do so, because the voice he heard on the other line was that of Geeta.

Geeta, "Adi Mause, hello. Good Morning, I just wanted to let you know that Radha and I have left Ambala and are on our way to Shimala."

Adi, "Did you have a good stay in Ambala?"

Geeta, "Ya, it was really nice, the hotel was nice and the food there was finger licking. Yum, Yum. We slept so well, actually we over slept."

Adi, "So I take it you liked the hotel."

Geeta, " Yeah! it was really wonderful and the gardens, don't even get me started. I think if there is a heaven then that is what it would look like. Well Adi Mausa, I have to go, Radha is signalling that she is hungry and we need to get something to eat. Bye"

Adi, "Bye, talk to you soon, don't forget to call."

Geeta hung up and Adi continued to talk.

Adi, "So you happy, your daughter liked the hotel"

Maan, "Of course I am happy, after all everything I do, I do it for her, what father wouldn't be happy to hear his daughter sing his praises."

Adi, "I am happy to hear you happy, its been a while, I think it was good for Geeta to come to India."

Maan, "Yup, it was, I think I will call Geet and talk to her now. See you soon about the Mehra project, say in about 15 minutes."

Adi, "Meet you in Sasha's office in 15 minutes, I think she has to blueprints ready."

Maan, "Okay"

Maan calls Geet, who luckly wasn't sleeping. She couldn't sleep, she was a little worried about her insane daughter and her mad friend. She couldn't beleive that just a few days ago she was arguing with Maan to let them go on a road trip. What was she thinking? She had faith in her daughter and her abilities but she just couldn't help herself. She was waiting for Geeta to call so that mind would be at rest. The phone rang and she smiled, finally the girl was calling. She picked up the phone ans was surprised to hear Maan's voice.

Maan, "Did I wake you up?, of course I did what a stupid question, it is middle of the night there."

Geet, "No you didn't wake me up, I couldn't sleep. I was waiting for Geeta to call. I am a little worried."

Maan, "I understand but you have to trust her, aren't you the one who told me that we should let the two of them go on this road trip?. Anyways I was just calling to let you know that Geeta called in a few minutes ago to check in with Adi."

Geet, "Is she okay?"

Maan, "Yes, she is perfectly okay. They stayed at our hotel in Ambala, and just left."

Geet, "I know, she called me last night and told me the whole story about not getting a room and her getting frustrated and all. I hope the girls didn't cause any trouble."

Maan, "They didn't, plus if my own daughter can't live in my hotel then no one should be allowed to. What good is it to have the facilities when she can't use them. It was a good thing that the receptionist on duty called because it was late and the girls would have had to find another hotel."

Geet, "Thanks for taking care of them. I know, I don't have to say that but I wanted to. Also I think Geeta probably left a little surprise for you in the room."

Maan, "What surprise?"

Geet, " If I know our daughter, she probably left a note on Page 2 in the notepad in the room. It's something I do when I stay in hotels and she I believe has picked up this habit. I think maybe you should see if there is anything in the notebook, before housekeeping throws it out. I think I am going to go to bed now, since I know Geeta and Radha are safe. Bye.

Maan, "Bye"


Maan called the hotel and asked them to give the notepad from the private room to Mr. Khanna. Mr. Khanna was one of his most trusted security personnel.

The receptionist followed the instructions and Mr. Khanna was soon on his way to Delhi.



Geeta and Radha were on their way to Shimla. They had breakfast in a small restaurant before leaving Ambala, this time they had been careful not to order more food than they could handle.
Radha decided to fill the car with gasoline before they proceeded since she wanted to drive straight to Shimla since it was only 150 Kilometer on NH-22. It wouldn't take long, and she wanted to enjoy the evening in Shimla. Geeta had agreed with her.

As they drove, Geeta contemplated their journey so far, she was still amused by how the receptionist had reacted when he heard her name. What was so important about her name?

She turned to Radha and asked, "Radha why were you certain that the hotel receptionist would give us a room when he heard my name?"

Radha laughed, "I was just trying out our luck, I had no idea what I was saying, but I had to try, what was the worst that could happen, we would have been shown the door and we would have found another hotel, if not there is a bunch of camping stuff, we would have slept under the stars." she continued laughing.

Geeta joined her, "But we don't know anything about camping."

Radha, "So what?, it can't be that difficult. All you have to do is put up a tent and start a fire, any fool can do it, and we are two intelligent girls, we would definitely be able to camp successful.

Geeta, "You are right, we are two smart girls."

After a while, Geeta decided to listen to music and turned on the radio, Radha was in her own world so she didn't care what Geeta was doing.

The voice on the radio: Hello all my loyal listeners today's topic of discussion- secrets. Although she was hoping to listen to some new Indian music, she was intrigued. It reminded her of the secret that Radha and her were trying to uncover. She had gotten carried away by her trip to India and had completely forgotten about the mystery man and the other things she wanted to find out.

She turned to Radha and got her attention but poking her, she and Radha were like sisters, nothing she did would annoy Radha. Radha was a few months older than Geeta and for some reason there were times she got over protective just like an older sibling. Geeta was glad that of the people she could have met and become best friends with at Harvard, it was Radha who had come into her life.

Radha turned to Geeta and looked at her with raised eyebrows, asking what?

Geeta, "There is a show on secrets on the radio, reminded me of the mystery man and mom. I was wondering what we need to do to solve our case." she smiled.

Radha, "Look in my bag, the list book is still in there, I never travel without it. Lets go through all that we have and see what we need to do next. After all there isn't much else we can do while driving so why not focus on something interesting."

Geeta pulled out the book and came accross the list.

Things we know about Geeta:

2. Born in India
3. Mom from Delhi
4. No dad
5. Mystery Man
6. Text Messages from Mom to someone in India
7. Mother an architect
8. Mother is really young only 37
9 Earrings gifted by mystery man, mother too secretive about identity, behaving unusual and agreed to a shopping date, no arguements
10. 9685550338 (number of mystery text receiver)
11. Mother does not reprimand Geeta for excessive shopping.

Geeta smiled as she read the list aloud, she thought to herself, she would have never thought of making a list, let alone carry it around where ever she went. She was glad that Radha had compulsion of making lists.

Radha looked at Geeta and said, "lets start with the number that we have, try calling it, what do we have to loose, and since we can't look into any of the other things right now, lets start there."

Geeta pulled out her phone and dialled the number, on the other end, Maan looked at the number and his heart stopped, why was Geeta calling him, how did she get his number? For once he was glad that he had never personalized his voice mail. He let the call go to voicemail and waited without breathing. Once the call ended, he noticed the message light blink on his phone, he dialed right away into his voicemail and waited to hear what she had to say. What he heard was disturbing.

"Radha, no one is answering at this number, do you think this number is still valid? After all I got this number from my mom's phone a few years ago."he heard Geeta "Of course it is still valid, else it wouldn't go to voicemail." Radha replied. "Are you sure you wrote the number down right" Geeta asked "Of course, I also have memory like an owl, let me think what the number was, check it against the list- it was 9685550338." Radha replied. "Yup that is the number I called." Geeta confirmed.

She had forgotten to hang up when she had gotten no answer and had continued her conversation with Radha, Maan was upset that after a minute automatically the voicemail had cut off Geeta's call. He was furious as he had wanted to hear the rest of the girls' conversation.

He knew what he had to do, he had to call Geet.

Geet picked up the phone in NYC, "Maan two calls in one day, what's going on? Are the girls okay?"

Maan, "Yes, the girls are fine, we on the other hand may have a problem."

Geet, "What do you mean?"

Mann, "It seems our daughter is up to something along with her friend. I don't know exactly what but I am not getting a good feeling."

Geet, "Maan stop talking in riddles, you are starting to scare me."

Maan, "Your daughter just called my private cell phone, the number that we have kept in touch on. Seems that she copied the number off your phone a few years ago."

Geet, "What?" she was shocked and didn't know what else to say, how had Geeta managed to get the number"

Maan, "I don't know, but one thing for sure, she is upto something and I need to change phones at least for the next few weeks. We also need to find out what she is doing without raising suspicion on her end."

Geet, "Okay, Maan just do whatever you have to, I don't want her finding our anything. Please."

Maan, "You know your wish is always my command, don't worry. She isn't going to find out anything."

What Maan and Geet didn't know that their daughter was smarter than they thought, plus she had an insane friend, who was capable of anything.

Yeah! I do it all the time when I stay in a hotel, if it is sucky hotel I will say that, if it is a great one, then I will say that. Too bad, Maan heard what they said, but I am glad he didn't hear everything. Lets see what happens.
