but actually felt bad for maaneet becoz that jerk dev they are separated but only through distances but not in heart

just maan only maan noone else can be like him.
i even cried so many times during the story for him poor guy couldn't be with his soulmate & daughter and suffering for his brothers mistake.
geeta looks like maan wow at least god did justice to him in that making his daughter like him.
lord knows what i would if geeta inherited anything from dev.
dadi will be so delighted on knowing her great granddaughter.

Another day in January, the cold greeted Geet as she left. The wind slapped her hard and the air was so cold that she it slapped her right into the past. Her first winter in this concrete jungle that she had eventually fallen in love with came to mind. She had been in NYC for a few months but was not prepared for what they called winter, she could have sworn that she was going to die, that her blood would freeze due to the cold. She had thought that the winters in Punjab were cold but compared to here they seemed like summer. Devi had been so kind to give her old warm clothes to Geet. She still had to buy warm clothes for Geeta and just as she was trying to figure out how she would get the money to buy clothes for Geeta, Kate had been an angel and brought Geet her neice's old clothes.

18 years later, life was so different. She had gotten accustomed to the cold and she no longer had to worry about money. She recalled the days when she had just arrived in Delhi and was working at Khurana Constructions, how she was glad she had a job but the salary wasn't enough to even buy a cell phone. Actually the salary wasn't bad, but she had been saving every penny she could to provide for the baby when it arrived. She had never in her wildest dreams visioned herself living in NYC and working as a successful architect. Here she was a partner, the scared girl from Hoshiarpur was long gone and she was glad about that.

She signalled a cab and got in, she gave the cabbie directions to her building and started to enjoy the warmth of the heat. They arrived at the destination, Geet paid the driver and pulled her coat around her and rushed towards the door, she quickly got her keys out her pocket and opened the door to the building. She entered her apartment and looked around, she had all the material things that one would want, but she was so lonely. This was the first year that Geet wasn't with Geeta on her birthday, tomorrow her baby turned 19. Geet thought to herself, "wow, her daughter would be as old as she was when she had given birth, time passed by so fast, it seemed like only yesterday when she held Geeta in her arms for the first time."

She proceeded to her bedroom and changed out of her work clothes. She returned downstairs and went to the kitchen, she decided to cook Palak Paneer and Butter Chicken with some Naan. She cooked this meal every year the day before Geeta's birthday. It reminded her of home, it was the last meal she had eaten before bringing Geeta into the world. Once dinner was cooked, she sat by herself and ate quietly. Sometimes silence spoke volumes. She was at peace, she had succeeded (she didn't mean in her career) in raising a beautiful, confident and smart woman. A woman who was capable of finding her own way in this world without fear.

After dinner she made some calls and decided to go to bed earlier than usual, she set her alarm for 11:55pm and got under the covers.

The alarm went off at 11:55pm, Geet got out of bed and put on her robe. She went downstairs and got a cake out of the refrigerator put a candle on it, lit it and dialled the number, 200 miles away Geeta picked up her phone on the first ring.

Geet, "Happy Birthday, meera baccha. May your day be as special as you are, may this year bring with it all the success and fulfillment your heart desires."

Geeta, "Thank you, mamma. I knew you would call."

Geet, "So did you get the package I sent you?"

Geeta, "Yes, I did. But you told me not to open it so it's just sitting here."

Geet, "Well, its time to open it, go ahead open it, everything you need to celebrate your birthday is in the box. Since we aren't together, I thought we would celebrate over the phone."

Geeta opened up the box and found a cake and candles in it. She took contents out and placed the candles on the cake and lit them.

Geeta, "Mamma, the cake is out and the candles are lit."

Geet, "Why don't you wake Radha up, to that she can celebrate with you?"

Geeta, "She is already up, she is standing right here."

Geet, "Could you pass the phone to her? I need to tell her something."

Geeta passed the phone over to Radha.

Radha, "Hello!"

Geet, "Radha, after Geeta blows out the candle, give her a hug and give her the present that I sent. You haven't told her about it, have you? If you are still okay with the plan say 'Yes Auntie, I was awake because I wanted to wish Geeta a Happy Birthday at midnight."

Radha, "Yes Auntie, I was awake because I wanted to wish Geeta a Happy Birthday at midnight."

Radha then switched on the speaker on the phone and she and Geet started to sing to Geeta, Geeta blew out the candles and as per tradition made a wish. She was surprised when Radha hugged her and gave her a present. The two of them were always together so when had Radha gotten a chance to buy the present. She opened it up and started to scream, Geet had gotten her two tickets to India. They were tickets were for booked for June 20, an entire month before the semester in India started.

Geeta, "OMG, 2 tickets to India, what's going on, Mamma?"

Geet, "Well, since I have already given you permission to go to India to study, I thought you might enjoy being a tourist too, as they say all work and no play makes Geeta a dull girl. So I decided that this was the perfect present for you, So do you like your present?"

Geeta, "This is the best present ever, I am so excited, wait a minute mamma, there are two tickets, are you coming too?"

Geet, "No meera baccha, I am not coming, the second ticket is for Radha. I have already spoken to her parents and they are fine with her going to India early. I thought you would have more fun with your friend than your old mother."

Geeta, "Mamma, 1. You are not old and 2. I love spending time with you, I always have fun with you. But thank you for thinking of Radha, you are right, the two of us are going to have an amazing time."

Geet, "Okay, it's late, I have to go to work tomorrow. So I am going to say goodnight. Once again, have an amazing birthday, my baccha."

Geeta, "Good night, mamma. Thank you for everything. I am not just talking about tonight, but everything."

In India it was 10:30am and Maan had decided to take the day off. He along with Adi and told their main architect that they had an important client meeting and would be busy with that the entire day. It was very unusual for both of them to take time off at the same time, they didn't want people asking questions hence the fake meeting.

Maan, drove up to Adi and Pinky's house and got out. Pinky was already waiting for him. They had met every year on this day to celebrate Geeta's birthday. Every year they would get together and plan a special event to make the birth of Geeta. This year was no different, they had decided to go to the banks of the Yammuna and have a picnic. It was a nice cool day and it seemed that even the skies were happy, not a cloud was visible.

Pinky had already packed everything that was needed and had just been waiting for Maan to arrive. As soon as she spotted his car, she yelled, "Adi, Maan Jiju aa gaye hain, jaldo karo."

Adi, who had decided to make the most of his day off by sleeping in late, was still getting ready and replied back, "I am almost ready, will be done in a few seconds."

Maan entered their house and went to the kitchen, this was a second home for him, he didn't feel like a guest, he opened the refrigerator as if looking for something. Pinky who had followed him into the kitchen asked what he was looking for, when Maan pointed to his stomach, she made a face and said, "Ghar per khanna nahi milta kya?, ab baatho (pointing to the dining table) main kuch bana ke lati huun."

Maan, "Ghar pee to boohot khanna hain, per sali ke haath kai khanna ki tau baat hei kuch aur hain. he flashed her a boyish smile trying to look innocent.

Pinky made some food and served it to Maan with attitude. Maan wondered what was wrong with Pinky and decided to jump into the fire feet first by asking her what was wrong.

Pinky, "How can you ask what is wrong? I just finished slaving over the stove to make all the food for the picnic and then you waltz in looking for food, if you eat right now how are you going to have any space left for the food at the picnic?"

Maan laughed and replied, "That is all?, I promise that I will eat everything you serve at the picnic without complaining."

Pinky satisfied with the answer smiled and decided to go after Adi who was still not ready. "Why aren't you ready yet, do you know Maan has been waiting for so long and you don't even have manners to be ready on time."

Both Maan and Adi were perplexed at Pinky's behavior, she was the happiest person amongst them, so what had gotten into her today, why did she have such a short fuse today? Even food, her favorite subject had made her angry.

They decided to find out, it was true that Pinky could keep no secret, so after a little prodding she spilled the beans, Geeta is coming to India, she noticed that Maan wasn't surprised. She looked at Maan questioning him without speaking. Maan let them know that Geet had spoken to him about Geeta coming to Delhi to study in July.

A little angry that Maan hadn't shared the news with her and Adi, she decided to play a mean trick on him, she turened to him looking sad, "But she is not coming in July."

Maan, "What?"

Pinky giggleed, "She is coming in June."

Hearing that Geeta was coming earlier than he had expected was wonderful news to Maan. He knew that Geet would put really difficult limits on him, but he didn't care. For few months later on in they year he would get a chance to see his daughter everyday. He felt that this year was going to be a good one, it seemed that the last few months had been the best of his life. He for the first time had once again started to enjoy the little things.

Adi and Pinky were extremely happy with the news and were glad to see Maan is such a good mood. They had seen him sad for too long so they welcomed anything that made him happy with open arms.

The three of them went on the picnic and had a great time, someone more than others. Pinky had decided to serve Maan so much food that in the end he had to beg her to stop as tears rolled down his eyes. He was certain that there was no way that he could even walk to his car let alone get home. She had taken great joy seeing him in that state, yes, finally Maan Singh Khurana had to beg for mercy that too because of food.

Life was good, all were content with life and saw a bright future ahead.

Dear lovely readers in Maneetland,

Lets see what do I have to rant about today? Lets start with todays episode, I don't know I wasn't very impressed with the beginning, however the end more than made up for the bakwas we had to watch in the beginning.

Okay, so like many of the other FF writers I couldn't really focus on writing this update because I was totally gaga over yesterday's pre-cap. So I have to let you all know that this isn't my best work and I apologies for the sub-par material. I am sure you all will forgive me.

And of course today's pre-cap was even worse, how are we supposed to be productive citizens of society if all we can think about is Maneet? If any of you have the answer to my questions please include it with your comment. I can surely use any suggestions.

So now coming to the topic of commenting, I am glad that many of you have come back to the good side and stopped being evil. I appreciate all your opinions, and look forward to the comments. I am going to keep my threat alive for a few more days after than it turns to action. So starting next Monday beware.

Another thing, this show has made me ignore my husband among everything else in my life; therefore I will be taking the next two days off to spend time with him over the weekend. I am sure you all will understand.

I am so happy that you loved the update. You mentioned back to school shopping and I gave you shopping. Not bad, right?
