Chapter Eighteen.
Another Flashback.
He had first met Geet in the small town of Hoshiarpur, which was easily accessible to Delhi by bus. He had come in a private helicopter of course, and stayed in a small, non-descript guesthouse, spending most of his overlooking the construction of his latest factory. His recreation time was spent poring over business books.
Ever since Lianna had come, and unceremoniously been kicked out, the company had been prospering, making Maan gloomy more than happy. He had become extremely-short tempered, losing the calm of his college days. To distract himself he was prone to camping in the forest nearby, feeling comforted by his loneliness, as it gave him a feeling that he could happily live without any woman in his life.
He still remembered a frightened girl huddled behind a tree, looking like someone was going to kill her-literally. He then saw a group of men armored with swords. Without wasting time, he stopped a sword from slicing her into pieces just as a fierce looking man brought it down on her chest.
He had fought with them single-handedly and finally managed to drive them off. Rather than thanking him, the girl ran away. Annoyed at her impertinence, he had stalked off to his tent.
Then his grandmother's health compelled him to return to Delhi. And he would always remember for the rest of his life the moment when he saw Geet sitting in the HR department slapping her interviewer and walking out determinedly. He found it difficult to believe this was the girl who had been so frightened that night. He went up to her and asked her "How dare you slap my employee?" to which she had replied "How dare he ask me to sleep with him?"
She had been hired on the spot.
Rather than being a help, she was a hindrance. Because of her bubbly manner of talking. Of her crazy manners. Her charming eyes. The way her hair flew when there was a breeze. And how she never cried for attention, but merely out of a sense of distress. And each time he felt something for her,he would always berate her. She took it to be a sign that he did not appreciate her work, when actually it was just a plea-"Stop having this effect on me."
And yet he had always been wary. Heck, he had managed not to feel anything for Tasha with her short skirts or Sasha with the seductive hints in her conversation. They were just Barbie girls. And the worst thing was that she reminded him of Lianna. And yet she was different.
It did not feel right when Sasha gave him a file instead of Geet.
It did not feel right if he did not have two cubes of sugar in his coffee though he asked for no sugar.
It did not feel right when he said something during a meeting and no one opposed him.
And that's when the horrifying realization hit him-Lianna had just been a case of infatuation. With Geet it was love, full blown love. And he felt like hitting himself, because all the promises he had made to himself were broken just with one glimpse of Geet.
And that's when he realised he had to find out her past. He had to get to know her better. Both his mind and hist heart were telling him to.
But the question was, would she reveal?
