Chapter 12

Maan dialled a number on his phone.

"Hello S...si...sir...", Adi said on the other side of phone.

"Adi, I wanted to ask you...."

"Sir, please listen to me first, it's not Geet's fault, Sasha is responsible for her resignation, Geet is innocent Sir, and this time I have proof against Sasha.", after blurting this out Adi paused for sometime, so as to give him time to digest what he had just said and waited for his response.

Maan had called Adi to know what had happened in the office in the past one week, about the presentation with Mr. Chopra and the possible reasons that led to Geet's resignation. But what he heard literally bombed his whole mind.

"But, why didn't you tell me all this earlier?", Maan finally managed to speak out.

"You.... didn't give me any opp..ur..tunity..... S..si..sir.", Adi replied.

"B..b..but Sir, you must have called for other reasons. What happened Sir? Is everything ok with you."

"Haan....wo... Adi, can you please tell me where is Geet right now. I want to meet her." Adi was amused by his boss' peculiar demand.

"Sir, I don't know anything about her. She dint tell us where she was leaving. She lived in Pinky's house earlier, but where has she went 2-days ago is unknown to us.

S..Sir.... what happened, if she hasn't completed some of her works, I will do it with Pinky's help.", Adi suggested trying to ease Maan a little bit.

Maan not wanting to think about past events, suddenly asks him, as if someone had put him in auto-suggestion mode, "You told me about Sasha. What was that??"

"Sir, I was saying that Sasha has forcefully made Geet to resign. S...Sa....", Adi stammered again, unsure of how Maan will react listening to everything.

By now, Maan grew impatient and said, "What Adi? I want to know."

Adi afraid and bemused of Maan's unusual behavior replied, "Sasha duplicated Geet's signature and wrote the letter of resignation on her behalf. She then accepted the same as calling herself the incharge of office and got her formal resignation letter typed. With you being absent from office, without any notice, she herself accepted her resignation claiming that she was the Temporary Managing Director."

"But why didn't you stop her. And where's the proof.", an irritated Maan said.

Things were more typical than they seemed. There was more depth to everyone and everything that got Geet trapped in this fiasco.

"Coz, Sasha told me that you told her so. But then I thought about what she did with the Hotel Menu and the Msgs...",he trailed off. Then after a little pause said, "Sasha has got the resignation letter printed from her own computer and signed her resignation herself without being given any formal responsibility and authority to do so, from your side."

Maan was at his wits' end. All this has happened to his Love, and he was so much ignorant about all this. He turned his thoughts again and reminisced what he had just heard and then suddenly blurted out, "What about the Menu and Msgs? Now, what the hell are they??"

Adi had not expected Maan to ask him about this. He had dreaded about it all this time, but his basic instincts told him not to tell lie. So, he decided to tell Maan the truth, even if he dint have any proof regarding that. "The Menu of the party, that you had ordered Geet to organize, was replaced by Sasha and Tasha. They were responsible for spreading rumours about you and Geet, disturbing Geet from her works, circulating the MMS when you got trapped with her in the Conference Room and challenging her for dirty tricks."

Maan's head was now spinning, heart beating really fast, body covered with sweat, every muscle, every nerve crying out for Geet. He couldn't make up with the sudden surge of emotions in him. It felt like he was Happy and Sad, Angry and Broken apart all at once. He was dumbstruck.

He mustered some courage slowly, realizing that Adi was still on the other end.

"Adi, is there anyway that I can contact Geet. I mean, some phone number, address or any relative or friends, anything", Maan asked assertively.

"Geet doesn't keep a mobile phone, she didn't tell about her whereabouts, nor does she know anyone other than Pinky... But yes...Pinky. Sir, Pinky must have her phone number or anything which we can use to contact her.". Adi said, suddenly brightening his mood.

"But vo....", Maan was apprehensive.

"I will ask her about it. You don't worry." Adi said.

"Okk.... then call me, after you get to know something about her.", Maan said.

He hung up the phone.

For the first time in the two days, Maan felt relieved. But the relief was short lived. Soon it was replaced by grim expression, he now felt Geet's pain with much more intensity. He thought about what Gurprit had told him about Geet, the pain she had suffered then, and the pain that she suffered even today. It was all his fault due to which Geet suffered. He couldn't think about anything but the hardships that Geet faced. He was now reproaching himself for letting Geet go away from him so easily.
