I know you all wish I update faster and so do I but it's not always as I would like......but here you go.....this time within a week.......for all you wonderful readers!!!

PART 9

Maan nods his head and looks at Naintara who gives him a shaky smile. They were not letting something on he thought but it could be the fact that Naintara was insecure about Dev and Dev was trying to make sure that his brother's question didn't unsettle his temperamental wife.

"Was just asking….no big deal" Maan waved them off but saw a look of determination settle on Naintara's beautiful icy face and his eyes hardened in response.

"Why did you ask then Maan?" she questioned him, taking a step closer.

"The question wasn't meant for you Naintara" Maan snapped back.

"It does affect me though" she replied.

"Since you don't know the person I am talking about….it surely doesn't matter…..or does it?" Maan countered back, adding the last part softly.

"It doesn't bhai.....but Naintara is a little taken aback with the random question" Dev stepped by Naintara's side, trying to avoid a showdown between Maan and Naintara and he full well knew that it would be him and Naintara who would be at a loss if Maan lost his temper and he was trying to salvage the situation.

He gently touched Nanitara's arm, to warn her to stop. She immediately understands Dev's gesture and straightens and turns away and leaves. Dev notices his brother's narrowed eyes following his wife.

"Bhai…..she gets a little jealous….you do know na" Dev touches his brother's arm and Maan looks at him with an unreadable expression in his eyes.

"Not that she has a reason…does she Dev?" Maan turns his questioning gaze to his brother who nods a no with a fake smile plastered on his face.

"Of course not……well bhai…see you in the morning" Dev takes his leave and heads to his room.

"Good night" Maan says under his breath and goes to his room and goes into the balcony. He loved watching the sky, its infiniteness and silence gave him peace. Today was a nice night with a slight breeze and Maan sits on his rocking chair and starts thinking unable to relax as he usually did.

Geet was obviously lying about her interest in his brother but what he was unable to understand was why Dev and Naintara had been shocked at his mention of her name but then simply denied that they knew her. Something was amiss and he wasn't going to let it slip by so easily.

His thoughts then shifted to the innocent beauty that he couldn't stop thinking about and he frowned. Why was she so sick? He wondered why she didn't worry too much about her sickness…..he was going to find that out too.

"Why do I think so much about her?" he questioned himself reclining in his chair. He liked her simplicity but what he enjoyed the most was her spunk. All the women he had met till now either tried to impress him or had attitude and were so shallow and fake that it actually made him feel like a commodity everyone wanted to lay their hands on.

Geet whereas was different. She was unaffected by his power, money or looks. She was so determined to work hard and prove herself in face of his mostly harsh criticism, he mused. He didn't mean his words to come out so strong against her but for some reason unknown to him, they always did. Though never did she cower against those and he admired her for that……a lot.

He also thought about the new information he had received from his detective. She had left her house and town as she had a big showdown with her family wherein she had told them that they all were dead for her. He had asked for the reason to be found out but when he had been told about Sasha meeting Brij and trying to make Geet's life miserable, his attention had been diverted towards that and he had asked the detective to forget the back story but keep his eyes on Brij.

Now he had been told that Brij was headed to Delhi. Maan was worried about Geet after hearing that information. How was she going to handle her brother he had no idea and was not in favor of them meeting. He was sure that he couldn't do a barbaric act like last time in Delhi but how was he going to prevent their meeting? He decided to send Geet out of town for some reason so that Brij couldn't find her.

He heard a soft knock on his door and snapped out of his musings.

"Who is it?" he asked going towards the door.

"Virji" Dev's voice addressed him from the other side and Maan threw open the door to his room.

"Dev…..what are you doing here so late?" Maan couldn't help asking.

"I wanted to talk Bro" he told him and Maan ushered him inside.

"Go on …..am listening" he encouraged.

"Bro……I want you to give me another chance…..and teach me the ropes of the business…….I promise I won't let you down this time" Dev pleaded, trying to make his brother realize that he was serious about work this time.

"Did Naintara set you on this path of realization Dev" Maan asked shrewdly but Dev disagreed, which for some reason Maan refused to believe.

"Dev…….you were never interested in our business….then how come this sudden change of heart……so late in the night?" Maan pointed out.

"Bro….you are always busy….this is usually the best time to talk to you……and as I said….I am changing" Dev reasoned.

"Well…….I'll believe that when I see the change….but as for work…..stop by tomorrow in my office and I'll see what I can find for you to do….but you better be serious this time around Dev" Maan warned and Dev thanked him and left and Maan to drifted to sleep.

Geet got up early, determined to face the brother of the man who had destroyed her life without a second glance.

"You can do this Geet…..you have to….not for your sake but your child's" she spoke to herself to build up her confidence.

She had been praying for an opportunity to find her tormentor and babaji had finally listened to her. She was not going to let this slip from her hand so easily even if it tore her inside.

"I can do this" she repeated it like a mantra till she reached office and bumped into Sasha.

"Hey you…..Miss Hoshiarpur…..watch where you go" she snapped at Geet.

"I am sorry Sasha mam" Geet apologized and started moving away from her.

"Oh that you will be bhenji" Sasha's voice had a gloating quality in it which made geet turn back to look at her.

"What do you mean?" she couldn't help asking.

"You'll find that out soon…..now give me the update on MK's London project……unlike you I have work to take care of "Sasha bristled, leaving an irritated Geet to do as told.

Geet got busy with work and was startled when her phone rang and Maan asked her to come to his office pronto. Geet took a deep breath to calm her heart which had started beating at a super fast speed.

"Calm down Geet…..it's not him who did wrong by you……he actually saved you" she tried to talk down the anger which had enveloped her and after a few minutes marched to her boss's office.

"Does Pronto mean 10 minutes to you?" Maan asked annoyed.

"I was in middle of work" Geet started when Mana raised his hand.

"No excuses…..when I say pronto Geet…..you leave everything and come here…..get it?" he asked, his tone cold and she nodded.

"Fine……I will leave everything and rush to follow your orders" she muttered annoyed too now.

"That would be nice" he heard him retort.

"Now Geet…..I need you to go out of town with me" Maan started when her head snapped up.

"What? With you?" she asked, her face taking on an offended expression.

"For work" he finished and saw her blush furiously.

"It would help if you cared to ever listen to what I was going to say before you jump to conclusions" Maan told her off.

"You Khurana men say something and mean something else entirely" she said under her breath.

"What Khurana what?" Maan asked her not fully understanding her mumble.

Before Geet could reply, they hear a commotion in the office and Geet walks towards the glass windows to see who had dared to create a scene in this office.

"She is my sister and I said I want to talk to her" Brij's voice boomed in her ears and the color drained from her face.

How in heaven's name had Brij Handa, her barbaric cousin found her here? What did he want now?

Instinctively her hand went to her stomach and she took a step back and pressed into Maan's solid chest as he had come around his table at hearing the familiar voice.

Damn Damn Damn…..he hadn't thought that Brij would ever enter his office….he had believed that at least here, under his eagle eye, Geet would be safe. He should have alerted his security.

Maan moved behind Geet as he knew she would need him.

"Geet….you don't have to " Maan started when she turned around and saw fury in her beautiful hazel gold eyes.

"I didn't think you would stoop so low Mr. Khurana" she hissed and that startles Maan.

"Geet….what are you talking about?" he couldn't believe that she thought that Brij's appearance was somehow his doing.

"I thought you had more guts……but you Khuranas hit below the belt" she continued her tirade which shocked Maan more. Never had he seen so much fury in her eyes. Even when she had realized that her own blood had tried to kill her, he had seen anger, sadness and determination in her eyes but cold fury, he was seeing for the first time.

"Geet…….I am trying to help you here……why the hell are you turning on me?" Maan asked, his irritation mounting at her irrational behavior.

"I….DO…NOT…..need your help…..you have done enough" she seethed and walked out towards the commotion.

Brij saw a determined Geet marching towards him and stand with her arms folded around her in front of him.

"You don't have to create drama Brij Virji" she said softly and he looked at her shocked. Never had he thought that his little sister was so strong willed and had so much courage so as to face the world without the crutches of her family.

"I want to talk to you Geet" he announced loudly and saw from the corner of his eyes the man who had saved her from his sword, approach determinedly and the crowd which had gathered at his racket thin immediately.

Before Geet could reply, she felt Maan's strong presence by her side.

"You shouldn't have come here" Maan told Brij in a cold voice and Brij looked at him in anger.

"I need to talk to her…..not you" he snapped and turned towards Geet.

"She has nothing to say to you" Maan snapped back and an angry Geet turned towards him.

"I have…….lets go to the conference room" she told Brij, who followed her and so did Maan.

As she was about to shut the door of the room, Maan put his foot in and pushed it open and caught Geet's wrist.

"Are you crazy? He is the one who tried to kill you" Maan whispers furiously.

Geet wrenches her wrist away from his hold and he looks at her startled.

"I haven't forgotten a single thing……..and as I said….i don't need your help" she told him hotly.

"Fine…….talk to him if you so want but this door will not be closed….you get me……I will not have him killing you in my office" he snapped and Geet moved away and went near Brij.

"What are you here for now?" she asked him without beating about the bush.

"Geet……now you know how difficult it is to live in this world……have you decided to change your decision?" he asked her.

"No…….I haven't and why are you worried …….as far as I am concerned you all are dead for me and I for you" she bit out, managing to gulp her tears.

"Geet…..it is a stupid thing you are doing…….you are spoiling your life" he tried to talk her out of her decision to give birth to the baby.

"That is my problem not yours…..now please leave……or I will call the police" she points to the door and her attitude angers Brij.

"Don't you threaten me Geet" he snaps and raises his hand to slap her when it is caught midway in Maan's grip.

"No you don't" he holds it in a vice like grip.

"Oye Khurana…….you have no idea who you are defending………I am sure she never told you how she has dishonored our family….has she?" Brij turns his eyes on Geet and watches her go pale. He was right, she had hidden the truth and he smirks at her.

"Shut up Brij" Geet tries to stop his tirade but he laughs out loud.

"Oh I am right…..am I not…..you haven't told this savior of yours anything" he snatched his hand from Maan's grip who is looking unblinking at Geet. She had gone pale and he knew she was hiding something from him.

"Get out of here….away from my life" she snapped at her brother.

"I think you should do as she says Brij" Maan says, pointing to the door.

Dev entered the office to see everyone whispering amongst themselves and looking towards the big conference room.

"Excuse me" he taps a person and asks about Maan.

"Oh Dev Sir…..he is inside the conference room" he points towards the direction and Dev moves towards that.

"Oye Khurana…….you are protecting her……looks like you don't know she is pregnant" Brij drops the bomb and Maan looks at Geet shocked.

"What?" he asks very softly, not believing what he had heard and watched Geet lower her eyes.

"Yeah pregnant and the child is illegitimate…..but she is determined to give birth to it…..now you know why we were so upset……but you Geet…..you deserve what you get" he tells her and she looks up with tears in her eyes.

"This isn't true….is it Geet?" Maan questions and Geet nods a yes.

"It is true Maan….it is" she replies, looking into his eyes and he steps back in shock.

"Who?" he can't help asking.

Geet looks away and then looks up at the door to see a shocked Dev standing there. As soon as their eyes meet, he turns to move away when he sees fury replace the tears in her eyes. Maan to catches the transformation and looks into her line of sight and sees his brother standing on the door.

"Dev Khurana……that's who" Geet replies and Maan looks at her and his blaze with fury.

"What? Are you dragging my brother into this?" he grabs her by her upper arm.

"Ask your brother if I am lying Maan" she shoots back at him and Maan turns towards Dev and sees him hang his head and that stuns Maan who can't get a word out of his mouth in shock.

Wow what a blast of an episode! Fantastic :-D Mindblowing part...now I cant wait to read what happens next to update the next one soon plz plz plz
