Chapter 6
"Dev?" I smiled at him "ready to meet mommy n daddy?"
Dev smiled and nodded innocently.

Sheena peered from the sofa as the door opened.
"Hey Mayank" she smiled as a very tired mayank greeted her.
"Am on time" he half-smiled as he placed his briefcase at a side table.
"Yeah" CJ agreed.
"Wheres Nupur?" he asked.
"she's gone to receive them at the airport" Gunjan replied.
"Ohh"
"Dev!" Mayank smiled and waved at him. Dev looked up and waved back.
"I will freshen up" mayank entered his room.
"m glad he is fine now" Sheena smiled.
"No sheena, he's hiding his pain" Gunjan whispered her tone edging on sadness.
"guys haven't we decided we are not raising this issue, so please no talks abt his mom" CJ whispered warningly.
"yeah" gunjan sighed.
"wat abt samrat? Is he fine?" sheena whispered.
"yeah,he feels guilt at times I knw" gunjan sighed.
"but for now we shud just be the way we have always been!" CJ replied.
"I guess CJ is right" sheena said.
Their convo came to an abrupt stop as the main door opened again.
"They are here" Sheena called and all of them rushed to meet the trio.
"Hey" CJ smiled and hugged Uday.
RV smiled at them, he was in a wheelchair.
"Dev!" RV grinned, gunjan passed dev to RV and hugged Dia.
"How r u dev?" RV asked.
"Fine" dev gave a toothy smile.
RV planted a kiss on dev's soft cheeks. Dev held RV's fingers and pulled him.
"kya chahiye?" RV asked confused.
"utho" Dev requested frowning as he pulled his dad's hand.
"Dev woh'beta" RV was at a loss of words.
"Dev" dia interrupted them "idhar aao" she picked him up.
All of them settled in the hall.
Mayank Joined them.
"Hey Guys" mayank smiled and hugged the trio.
"Been long!"
"Yeah" Uday smiled and hugged him back "u okay?"
"am fine" mayank smiled and turned to Dia and RV.
The chat continued.


At night
All of them settled in the hall, they had changed and were dressed in their nighties, it was like a mini sleepover they had planned to have this night.
"Okay" Sheena smiled munching some caramel popcorns as Dia joined them along with RV.(Dev is sleeping as always lol) Samrat and Uday helped RV off the wheelchair into the comfortable cushion. Dia sat next to RV while samrat and Uday took their places.
Nupur grabbed a pillow and leaned on it.
"So what do we do?"
"ermm any ideas?" CJ asked the rest.
"Guys I want u to check out these pics" Sheena grinned as she picked her iphone, she passed it to others, all of them grinned, sheena had feeded pics of their reunion 3 yrs back and Mayur marriage.
"Wow they are beautiful" gunjan smiled, as nupur peered at the screen.
"Yeah pretty cool" she smiled as she placed her head on mayank's shoulder.
"Guys!" Uday frowned."please don't be so cheesy , lets do something fun!"
"Exactly" Benji reached forward and snatched the Iphone from gunjan.
"No more cheesy stuff" he turned it off.
"Well alright, so'?" Nupur asked
"Lets Play our game" Uday smiled.
"our game?" sheena asked confused.
"Truth & Dare!" Uday answered.
"No!" Nupur, Gunjan and CJ at once refused.
"ermm why?" Dia asked.
"Well we are not playing that game, remember last time?" CJ rolled her eyes.
"3 years back" Sheena shot back "tht was 3 yrs back, and it happened for good"
"Well even mayu thinks it's a kids game right mayu?" nupur asked mayank smiling.
"No" mayank replied softly a smile playing on his lips as he recalled his failed attempts to propose to Nupur. "Lets play" he gave a small smile and that was all needed, if mayank was up for the game, it was definitely a yes from the girls too.
"okay we are playing" samrat spoke.
"Fine" CJ sighed.
And so the game Begins.
Dia spinned the bottle, it stopped on Benji first.
"Truth" he smiled
"chicken" Uday teased.
"Watever" Benji ignored.
"Okay Benji tell us why aren't u two married yet?" CJ asked, this one question had been bothering her a lot, and this was the perfect time to get an answer."
"trapped" Nupur grinned, finally they will get an answer.
"Okay" Benji sighed while sheena felt guilt double inside her. "here it is," benji continued "Sheena had signed a contract for this movie'and it continues till her next, one of the clause says she will remain single till the movie release, and so we cant tell the media about our relationship, its to create rumours of link-ups actually"
"Oh thts all?" nupur asked disappointed.
"that's all?" benji asked "I didn't even know abt this, and I proposed to her"
Everyone went quite as the air tensed around them, so this was the reason they were having a tiff.
"Lets see whose next" Gunjan broke the silence and spinned the bottle.This time it stopped on CJ.
"Dare" CJ squeaked but immediately cleared her throat.
Uday smirked, he was now 100 percent sure that CJ was trying to hide something, whole day she was nervous stealing glances at him.
"Okay" he smiled "CJ I dare u to reveal what you are hiding from me- the plain truth"
"hello I chose dare" CJ shot back
"for u saying the truth seems the toughest dare right now" Uday replied.
"Fine" CJ gave in "I have a wierd n totally crazy secret admirer no actually stalker"
"what!?" all of them exclaimed.
"yeah" CJ rolled her eyes "sounds creepy eh?"
"Ofcoz!" Uday growled "who's this psycho"
"I dunno" CJ shrugged and held the bottle "lets talk abt tht later, for now we should continue with the game"
Uday nodded his blood pounding in his veins.
CJ sighed, she could sense uday's anger and worry.
This time the bottle stopped on Mayank, he chose dare.
Samrat seized the moment and spoke first "slap me"
"what?" nupur exclaimed.
"you know I deserve it" samrat eyed her.
"Don't be stupid sam" Mayank spoke.
"m not mayank, I know u regret it, slap me, take it as ur dare" Samrat replied his gaze intense n glassy, it looked like he was holding back tears.


FLASHBACK

Samrat Nupur and Mayank sat at the doctor's cabin while the rest of the gang waited outside.
"She's merely alive" the doctor said "Its coz of the machines and medicines, they can keep her heart beating but they cant get her back"
"I cant end my mother's life doctor" mayank murmured in a daze.
"Son, you will be relieving her of the pain, the medication will be painful, she's a heart patient already, let her breath her last in peace"
Mayank closed his eyes and a tear escaped as nupur rushed out breaking into sobs.
Samrat sat stunned, what was he to do? What was right?
He held mayank's hand and heaved a sigh as a stabbing pain ripped his heart.

Later Next Day
In Mrs Shilpa Sharma's ward.
"Do it Mayank" Nupur's voice quivered as mayank stood by the machines, his hand placed on the switch.
"Mayank" samrat spoke as he approached him "She wont come back, let her be in peace, end it"
"I'cant" mayank sobbed.
"For her mayank" samrat sobbed.
"I..cant" his hands trembled as he turned to meet samrat's gaze.
Tears rolled down samrat's eyes as he held mayank's hand, a heavy weight seemed to be pulling their hands downwards, with courage he didn't feel samrat raised mayanks hand and the switch clicked, a moment's silence took place, as mayank's hand fell off from samrat's grip and the room was filled with a continuous beeping sound of the machine.
Nupur stepped forward and sat next to mrs sharma, samrat caught mayank as his knees gave away, both of them clutched onto each other sobbing hard. They had lost their Mother, a painful loss.

FLASHBACK ENDS

(Back-up info- Mayank and Nupur have shifted to Bangaluru, they have their own house now, mayank working in an MNC,nupur is searching for a job, RV can never walk, his one leg is damaged real bad, so tht ends his career, and Benji and Sheena are living with sam n Gunjan for now.hope there's no confusion.)


Samrat stood up and so did mayank.
The air cracked as the two stood face to face gazing at each other. With one swift moment, mayank raised fist and punched sam lightly on the shoulder, pressing his fist into his skin, he kept his gaze fixed at samrat's shoulder as he spoke "It was the right thing to do, it was destiny"
The two hugged each other, mayank smiled he was glad to have a brother like samrat.
The two of them took their places.


"Okay guys, it's a fun game'lets keep it at that" RV whispered, he didn't like to see tears, it remined him of his own misery, his inner fight, his struggle, he wished he could cry.
"exactly" Benji agreed as he spinned the bottle next, it stopped on Uday, he took dare and got his face painted with all sorts of cosmetics, that lightened the moment.

The bottle stopped on RV next.
"truth" RV smiled.
All of them stared at Dia giving her the chance to ask anything. Dia smiled and turned to RV.
"when are we getting married?"
All of them smiled at RV waiting for him to answer, RV met their expectant gaze, heaving a sigh he turned to dia, as tears glistened in his eyes.
"never"

Samrat sighed understanding RV's emotions as anger throbbed within him, they had been stupid to think of having some fun, when their lifes were so messed up, everything had to come to a sad end.
