Part 17

I was frozen to my spot with thousands of questions swimming in my head. I could barely sense that Rahul was getting consoled by Muskaan and Anjie by Atul, when suddenly I felt a warm hand on mine.

I saw Riddhima trying to clasp her hand with mine. It felt comforting. Involuntarily I tightly clasped my hand with hers.

Her other hand came up to my cheeks and she turned my face towards her. I looked into her eyes and saw in them warmth, sympathy and....love.

Love?

Yeah, love. I knew I had fallen for her. I knew she had fallen for me. This was a test. Through her eyes I could sense that she was trying to say,

Armaan, be strong. I know you can do it. I don't care who you are. My friend or my P.A. What matters to me is you and only you. Please don't lose hope. Please.....

I tried saying,

I don't know what is happening. What if this is the truth? What if I am really one of the Mallik heirs? Then why was I deprived of parental love and care and affection so many years of life? What was my fault? Please stand by me Riddhima. I need someone beside me now. Please...

She said,

I'm always there for you. I am here...always....

Suddenly I felt suffocated with so many questions. I wanted to go out, somewhere in the fresh air. I wanted to think all of this with a fresh mind.

I said,

"I want to go out. Please..."

Ananya said,

"Haan beta, jao. Tumhe ye sab ek khule dimag se sochna hoga. Jao beta, jao. Mujhe pata hai, tum wapas apne ma-papa ke pass aaoge. Jao, main tumhara intezaar karungi."

I turned towards the door. I thought Riddhima might not come. I was wrong.

Riddhima still had her hand in mine. She hadn't left me. She came with me.

I went to the car. Riddhima sat in the passenger seat, she had offered to drive but when I said that I wanted some distraction at the moment, she obliged to sit in the passenger seat instead.

I drove aimlessly on the roads. I didn't know where I wanted to go, just somewhere where I could sit and relax.

I turned the car towards one of the parks.

Riddhima said nothing. She just kept one of her hands on my arm, even when I was driving.

We went in. There was no one in the park as of now except for the security guard.

We went and sat on one of the benches. I gazed upwards towards the sky with no thoughts.

My mind was blank.

"Is this the truth? Am I really a Mallik heir? Why is my destiny playing games with me? What was my fault? Its true I envied people who had their parents with them, but then was this my fault? I knew nothing. I remember nothing. My early childhood memories are not of having a happy childhood. It was of struggle. To make an identity for myself. I met Anjie and Rahul there. I don't remember them being my siblings. Its true we were always together, but I never....

I don't know. I'm confused.

I'm...Riddhima, I don't...."

The tears which I never shed till today had found their way out. They were coming out one after the other.

Today, they could not be stopped. I couldn't stop myself. I just couldn't.....

"Armaan....Armaan, see, look here, at me. Look at me. Armaan, I know it must be difficult for you. I...I have to confess something today. Armaan, I...I had seen your birthmark that day. The day when you had come for the interview.

Then when I asked you your surname, I thought that...that maybe you are the same Armaan. Then...when Anjali and Rahul too came, I thought I had found you all. Anjali telling that you were triplets and the correct difference between you three cemented my hopes..."

I stared at her. So she knew it all along. I should be angry with her. But I couldn't. I was simply listening to what she was saying.

"And...and I know who and what you are Armaan. I know what you do for a living. I know you three are con artists. On Nikki's birthday, I had seen you three going upstairs. I had guessed that you wanted the company, that's why you had come posing as my P.A.

I had purposely kept the files in my room, the other room and the study room. I had also kept those papers which clearly stated that we are just the nominal CEOs. The company is actually under Malliks. Massu had wanted to give his company to us. But see the destiny.

That same day, I met you and I had a ray of hope. I thought that maybe the legal heirs had come after all. It would be fair to give them their share.

Its true we have our shares, but you all are the actual owners."

Her voice had cracked. It must have been difficult for her.

"You know Armaan, I had fallen for you the day I saw you. When you entered my cabin, I knew that it was you. You were the one for me. I came to know that Atul and Muskaan too had fallen for Anjali and Rahul. We used to be like lovestricken people when we came home. It used to be so difficult to have you in front of me all day, yet I.....

.....I couldn't say anything to you. I felt a sense of betrayal. You didn't know that we had come to know of your identity.

Bua's birthday and all. Everything was planned. I wanted to make you recollect things. Things that happened in the past.

But it was of no avail. Then massi and massu saw you three. In an instant I knew massi would feel something. That's why we hadn't called many people on Nikki's birthday."

She rested her head on my shoulder. I let her. I too rested my head on top of hers.

She was not to be blamed. She wanted our happiness. Right now I knew what I wanted. I knew what decision I had to take. I knew this was the right decision. For us. For all.

Phew! This emotional turmoil that Armaan is going through was good to show. I feel nice. I'm trying to write every aspect. Emotional scenes, comedy scenes, climax, and drama.

Don't ask me about romantic scenes. I can't write them. I tried writing them in my earlier FF, but then I thought let others write it. They are good at that.

Anyways, hope you all too felt nice after reading this part.

Woooaaaaahh ! U gave a surprise in dis one.. Armaan has finally accepted dat he loved ridz n so does ridz... amazing part yaar ..

Btw, abt their childhood.. oops, i forgot abt the orphanage thing bt den u didnt mention dat dey had been misused and kidnapped ... I th8 dey accidentally had met dat person who was himself a con artist ... bt anyways, m clear now abt the whole thing.. 😉 and u dnt need to train me any further.........😆..

I really wish ki in teeno ko kuch yaad aa jaye.. waise , i wonder if dey didnt have any birth mark den how wud things be sorted......🤔... bt i guess destiny alwaz has some ways ...
