Chapter 12
THINGS HAPPEN FOR A REASON
All of them take their positions.
Team A was at 4 n team B at 3.
CJ had the ball she passed it on to Uday who swiftly headed towards the basket n made it!
now both the teams were equal
Samrat- comeon guys!
Mayank had the ball he headed towards their side but was being blocked by CJ, he passed it to RV, though not being able to dodge or even move as Benji n Nupur were trying to block him he looked around to find samrat on the other end, Gunjan was the closest to the basket but will she make it? without further thinkin he passed the ball to gunjan, oh oh with lots of force gunjan completely taken aback at this couldnt react fast n the ball hit her in the stomach. At first she couldnt get wat had just happened, as the ball hit her she felt her stomach ache. she held her stomach n sat down groaning she could hear footsteps heading towards her & them calling her name, her vision was blurred due to tears.
Mayank was the closest to her so he reached first.
M- gunjan r u ok?
gunjan shut her eyes n groaned
S- move i'll carry her
G- no "no i'll stand' she managed to muster
Nupur- no u lie down samrat mayank please
S- I will
with tht he sweeped gunjan off her feet effortlessly and carried her to the seats the rest followed
Samrat laid her down gently. Nupur sat down with gunjan's head on her lap.
Nupur- "chot kahan lagey?"
Gunjan's eyes were shut n her hands were around her stomach.
Samrat moved gunjan's hand n gently pressed her stomach
Gunjan whimpered in pain.
Samrat- dude wat was the need to throw it so hard?
RV- m sorry gunjan.
Gunjan- its ok
Samrat offered gunjan a bottle of mango juice
G- no, no need
S- drink gunjan
Gunjan felt like she was gonna vomit all over but took seeing samrat talk so fiercely
He helepd her to sit, gunjan took a sip n laid down again
M- how abt we call a doc?
U- ya
G- "no its fine its...."she shut her mouth as she felt the feeling of nausea
Sh- u r ryt we should call a doc
G- nooo
CJ- guys no need for a doc i guess samrat knws all this injury stuff dont u?
S- ya i hv been injured many times too and my players….i hv a fair idea
D- ok i think we shouldnt crowd here, let fresh air enter
they spread around
Sheena- i'll get some ice
Samrat- ok
Samrat- Pain killers hain kya?
Sh- no i dont think so
U- i'll check if , but m not sure if i got any
Uday left
D-ohh wait
but uday had left
I hv pain killers i'll get em
with tht Diya leaves
RV- m sorry gunjan is it hurting too much
G- m fine
she tried to smile but her stomach ached horribly
Samrat gently pressed her stomach with his fingers, which surprised gunjan n she screamed out in pain.
S- i knew it u r sufferin more than u r lettin out.
samrat held her top to observe her injury when he realised wat he was doing.
he left it immediately "uhh sorry CJ, nupur just check if she is badly bruised"
N- ok
Samrat mayank Benji n RV turn around
Samrat realised tht he was short of breath n seemed as if had run a mile.
He tried to relax himself. He had lost complete control just now.
CJ- you can turn now
All of them turn around. Sheena was back with some ice
S- how bad is it?
"shes hurt, its turning an ugly shade of black n blue." nupur said flinching

At tht very moment gunjan stood up,samrat pulled the tin dustbin and gunjan vomited all she had for breakfast n the juice too.
Once it stopped she laid down again.
Sh- heres some ice
N-thnx
CJ- this is the time
"hey i think we should take her in"
B- ya
Gunjan couldnt utter a word she could hear evrythin but her pain dint let her speak, infact she dint trust her voice at a moment like this
RV- but …Gunjan, can she walk?
S- "no i'll carry her" with that samrat carried gunjan n all of them headed back in with their things.
CJ- I guess we should change,n one of us can call a doc meanwhile sammy you and nupur can stay with gunjan?
S- ya tht sounds right
M- i'll stay wid gunjan too
Sh- ok
Sheena,RV, CJ, Uday n Benji leave
Meanwhile Dia enters with Uday and a packet of painkillers in hand.

Samrat takes them
U- we will go freshen up
N-ok n then we can call a doc
M- i guess the first stage is here
"no need to call a doc samrat u can take care of her i knw"
S- but wat if its serious?
M- check buddy is it serious?

"ya" Mayank said in a tone as if it was plainly obvious.
M-chalo Nupur
N-but....
M- you come with me na
N- but gunjan!... samrat.... how?
M- Nupur

Mayank n Nupur leave
S- Gunjan
Gunjan whos eyes were closed dint respond "Gunjan?"
S- ohh god did she faint? or sleep?
he held her hand trying to wake her up
"Gunjan! get up......can u hear me?"
He sprinkles some water on her face.
Gunjan slowly opens her eyes and gives out a tiny gasp as her pain increased on shifting
S-u fainted?
G-no I was sleeping (sic)
Samrat breathed out in relief. "ya ryt! gunjan!?"
G- ermm
samrat held her hand again n looked in her eyes "dont lie"
G- i dont knw evrything just blacked out n well i dont remember nything after tht
S-exactly when?
G- when u carried me here
S- oke.....ermm gunjan actually
G-ya?
S- she dint hear a thing how m i supposed to say this!
S-erm ya... u need a doc or??
G- no! no need to call a doc m fine.
Samrat looks at her with knowing eyes
G- i'll be fine…its just a matter of time
S- no mayank says i should take care of u
G-u? why not anyone else
S- because i know more about basketball injuries
G-ohh
S-ya so ermm can i see?
G- no no NO
"actually u... i mean"
S- i will have to c it i cant treat u else"
Gunjan squirmed further. "ok"
Samrat held the edge of her shirt n lifted it. her stomach near the belly was turnin blue black, he touched it slightly.
Gunjan's breathe hitched,it did hurt but the warmth of his fingers was quite soothing.
Samrat left her shirt and looked away- u r so sensitive
Gunjan- wat do u mean?
S- the ball hit u i mean well u r very weak, never hurt before?
G- samrat!
she gave him a slight push with her hand, but found she was just touching him.
S- just kidding.......................its not much just turned black.
G- really not much?
S-ohh ofcoz it must b hurting u hard
Gunjan lifted her pillow to hit him, suddenly the pain doubled n she stopped.
S-hmm here have some painkillers hopefully u'll b fine by tomorrow morning, It would be better if u dont exert it much. u can eat but not now may b after an hour or so..ok?
gunjan smiled "ok doc, as u say"
Both of them laughed, though gunjan sombred up soon as her stomach hurt.
After a few minutes silence
G-"Samrat" she called him gently
Samrat looked up "yeah"
She held hi shand hand "Friends? Not one month one, friends …real ones"
Samat looked at her in wonder "friends forever"
Samrat covered gunjan's hand which lay on top of his and smiled at her.
This was the beginning of a new friendship or rather a beginning of 2 broken hearts being reunited in love.
CJ grinned from the door n went to join others in the hall to fill them up abt their success.
M- thts gud
D-you knw RV, sounds wierd but it was kinda gud tht gunjan got hurt else how wud hv all this happened
N- hey u r quite right but still gunjan is hurt.
B- but samrat is with her.
M-no samrat has always been there...its more like now gunjan is with him
Sh- well yeah either way they r together now!
U-yup this calls for celebration
N-ya but gunjan is hurt
CJ- no samrat said she will b fine by tomorrow
B-thts well n gud then
Sh- hey how abt tomorrow evening we head to our farmhouse? it will b fun
D-thts nice
B-yup gr8 idea
Sh- so thts done i'll check up evrything n make some arrangenments.
U- ya so how will we go?
B- by bus? there are 10 of us
Sh- by bus..... i hv 2 jeeps u all decide
M- i say by bus we all will b together then
N-hmmm it will b more fun
Sh- by bus it is then
D-yup i guess we should all freshen up n change now.
All of them were seated in the dining table waiting for dinner to be ready.
Sheena entered with a tray.
"Well guys today i made some dinner , ermm its Russian salad, pasta n ......."
Mayank- no indian?
Nupur- not possible
Nupur entered with another tray of food.
"Kadi, chawal aur rajma roti"
Samrat- nice!
Nupur-yup so lets dig in!
Everyone serve themselves n enjoy to their full
Sheena- "Listen picnic idea aint working"
Samrat- why?
Sheena- "Coz the house needs a bit maintenance and stuff, how about we go day after?"
Mayank-no probs!

Door bell rings
Sheena- who can it b?
Gunjan-i'll check
