Chapter two
She had expected katona to be beautiful, but not as breath-takingly lovely as it was.the small harbor with its wooden house and red tiled roofs was picturesque enough, but beyond them were the dark-green of the olive groves and again beyond them the mountains luxuriantly wooded ,until the blue sky were the dazzlingly snowy peaks of a mountain range.
Everywhere there were flowers.
Flowers in the window-boxes of the little houses, flowers on the lower slopes of the mountains, in the ravines, under the olive trees, patches of brilliant color which left her breathless at the wonder of them.
"my new country" she whispered to herself.
Nupur remembered prime minister and her conversation before she started her journey.
First day will be quite informal the prime minster had said. They will expect you to be little tired after your long journey, and you will drive to the baron's castle where you will stay the night.
" the following day it will be only take you two hours to reach dijlas . he smiled at her saying these information and continued 'there you will be able to change into your very best gown with which to dazzle the people who will undoubtedly be lining the streets to cheer you when you enter the city"
And the prince? Nupur had asked
His royal highness will be waiting for on the steps of the palace. he will know of course the exact moment of your arrival and as the carriage draw up he will come half way down the steps to meet you"
Nupur came out of her thoughts ,
In the small low ceilinged bed ?chamber nupur put her hands up to her cheeks. It had been hard battle with the mayank, but she could not help thinking now that she come much better out of the contest than she might have expected.
There was something inflexible and over powering about him. She that he had determined her to return back to England . she had felt him willing her to go, she had felt that he almost pushed her physically from his country, as if he disliked the very thought of her being in it.
'I hate him' she told herself ' I hate him'
It was not often that she felt so strong on emotion about anyone, in fact she had never been disturbed by a man.
Then she told herself it was because the mayank was a foreigner.foreginers were much positive in the feelings and in the manner of speech than the English.
He had no right to force me in to decision, where she did not wished to make.
'I hate him' she whispered once again, and yet she had to trust herself to him. she closed her eyes with a lot questions unanswered.

She quickly divested herself of the pretty muslin gown she had put on to come ashore. There were several blouses to wear with the habit, and because it was so hot nupur chose on of white muslin inset with lace.
Then sent the maid downstairs for a hat-box.
" be careful of your skin" the duchess had said before (her mom😉)."
" Remember the sun will be much stronger than in England and as undoubtedly your pink and white looks will attractive to the darker skin , it is important you should not get sun- burnt"
From the hat-box nupur took out a wide brimmed straw hat trimmed with green silk leaves to match her ridding habit and ribbons of the same color to tie under her small chin.
Nupur entered the parlor where the mayank was seated and there was an empty plate on the table to show he had orders something to eat.
As he saw her coming he rose to his feet
Good morning maam, have your breakfast, we should leave immediately, he continued, I have ordered for the horses mayank remarked. They should be outside.

They were quiet , study and by no means the spirited horse- flesh to which she was used or what she had expected.
Mayank saw the expression on her face and laughed.
They are the right type of beasts for where we are going maam he said. Though undoubtedly not what might be expected to complement your ladyship attire.
He was jeering at her, she thought and she hated him with an intensity which frightened herself .
Inn-keeper was standing in the doorway. Nupur held out her hand?'thank you' she said continuing it in their language. for looking after me , I am very grateful for all you have done and please keep my baggage safely' it was difficult for her to fing right words, but the uinn keeper understood
With a smile she promised her to keep it safe'
As they rode away she promised the cobbled roadway he said
"so you taken the trouble to learn our language".
