Chapter 2

"By God!!! Can't u watch where you're going??Moron!"

The Guy who had bumped into her actually went 2-steps backwards, reeling with the verbal abuse as if he had been physically slapped...

"What are you standing there like a statue for?? Who's gonna pick up these books you sent flying across the floor??" She continued in the same tone, unaffected by the countless stares she was attracting with the commotion...

"I-I-I'm sorry, Nupur..." Benji bent down instantly to pick up her books, while she stood there tapping her foot impatiently...Samrat gaped at her, unable to believe that someone could be this rude.

"What a b***h,man!!" A girl standing nearby whispered to her friend,who snorted in reply, "Thats Nupur Bhushan for you!"

Nupur snatched the books from the poor fellow's hand and left with a loud "Hmph!!" leaving him wondering what wrong he had done to face the wrath of this fireball, first thing in the morning.

With a sigh, he turned towards Samrat and said, "And that,my dear friend, is the biggest hindrance in your path!!"

Samrat looked at him,confused. "She's Nupur Bhushan, Gunjan's elder sister..." Benji explained.

His eyes widened as realisation dawned on him...It couldn't be...This wretch could NOT be Gunjan's sister...Gunjan seemed so sweet, so pure and Nupur-----Well, if Samrat had to describe her in one word,it would be- MEAN!! Yes,that's what she was...and attractive,of course...but who cares?? She was M-E-A-N!!

"But what does she have to do with my path??"

"I don't know... I just know that we need to get out of here before she comes back to slit my throat!!" Benji exaggerated and pulled a laughing Samrat with him.

Nupur walked into the classroom and looked around for a seat and smiled automatically as Diya waved at her... The only good thing about this College,for her,was Diya...and of course her Dramatics Class...She looked down at her books and noticed the shoe stamp on her diary...

"By God!!These guys have no sense...Look what he's done to my diary!!" She was muttering to herself and didn't see when she banged into him...

"Hey babes! Humse takrane ki itni jaldi thi,to humein pehle bata deti...Hum to kabse tayyar hain!!"

Nupur looked up with her eyebrows raised as she saw the jerk she had bumped into...

"By God,Ranvijay...Tumhe nahi pata tha ki mujhe kab se issi mauke ki talash thi??" She replied,with an evil smile forming on her lips,as she batted her eyelids...

"Really,Nupur?" RV actually sounded hopeful as he moved closer to her.

"Really Ranvijay!!" Nupur replied as cheesily and then with full force stamped her 4-inch heel on his foot.

"Owww" RV yelped with pain as everyone who had been listening in on the conversation burst into laughter...

RV glared at them and their laughter subsided...Nupur turned at her heels and was about to leave when he said, "Nupur Bhushan, try as u may, I'll show u your place one day!" his voice evil.

"Oh really?? I'll wait for that day!!" Nupur retorted and walked to her seat and joined Diya, still muttering under her breath about what a day it had been so far.

Mayank, who had been reading his book at his seat when the whole scene occurred in front of him, looked towards Nupur, with mild interest in his eyes,when C.J. tapped on his shoulder.

"What happened,dude?Kya dekh raha hai?"

"Hmm? Nothing...Yes,this reminds me...When are you going to stop seeing dat idiot??"

"He has a name,Mayank...And Uday is not an idiot!!He's just very sweet and childish..."

"and hungry as hell all the time!!!" Mayank completed for her and continued when she narrowed her eyes at him, "Aaj uski vajah se Ms.Aha ne mujhe phir se office bulaya...Ek to vaise hi ppl talk all nonsense..."

"Oh!!So now Mayank Sharma suddenly cares about what ppl talk about him??" C.J. raised her eyebrows.

"Certainly not!! I give 2 hoots about what they have to say...but atleast not the teachers,u noe..."
C.J. burst out laughing.

"What??" He looked confused.

"I don't know how people are scared of you,Mayank...You're the sappiest person around!!"

"I am NOT sappy!!!" He glared at her...

She continued laughing...Mayank hmphed loudly and went back to his book when Deodhar Sir entered the classroom and all the students rushed to their respective seats...

Deodhar Sir was their English Literature teacher...A subject for which Nupur had particular fondness,because of the beautiful poetry that came as part of the subject. Nupur wiped her precious diary with a piece of paper,as she flapped the pages to check if everything was in order or not...

"What happened,Nupur? How did your diary get stained?" Diya whispered as she leaned in to see what Nupur was doing.

Nupur snapped the diary shut. She didn't want anyone to find out what was in there. Not even Diya. She glanced towards Deodhar Sir who was taking attendance.

"Arey kya bataun Diya...This Stupid guy....." and she started narrating the whole story to her.

"Nupur Bhushan" No Answer.

"Nupur Bhushan" Deodhar Sir called out a little louder this time. No answer.

"Miss.Nupur Bhushan!! If your important talks and issues are over,then do you mind paying a little more attention to the class??" This time Nupur looked up and with a soft "Yes,Sir",she looked down, completely embarrassed.

RV whistled from the backseat and the class burst out laughing. Nupur turned to glare at him,but there wasn't a need for her to say anything as Mayank intervened.

"Will you cut it out,Ranvijay? We are all here for a class and not to listen to your whistling skills!"

There was pin-drop silence as the whole class turned to look at Mayank, who was himself utterly confused as to what had made him say that. Even Deodhar Sir didn't say anything for the next 2 minutes.

"Parul Mehra" "Present Sir"
"Prem Kumar" "Present Sir"

Mayank let out a slow sigh as the class resumed their normal activity. He dug into his book to avoid C.J.'s continuous nudging and of course, Nupur's fleeting glances his way every now and then. He didn't have an answer to his action himself, let alone for them.
