Chapter 11
"May I come in?" Gunjan knocked at her Boss's cabin with some sheets of paper.
"Yes, Gunjan come in." Her Boss answered without looking up as she was glued to her laptop screen, checking her mails.
"Ma'am here is the research papers of the product you had asked for. I have written down all the important details in pointers in the end. I hope it will be of a great help." She said smilingly, placing the papers on her table.
"Thanks Gunjan, you are a darling!" Her boss exclaimed as she placed her spectacles on the desk, while lifting the papers in her hand.
"Not a problem, Ma'am. Call me if you need any help." Gunjan said and turned to leave the cabin.
"Gunjan!" the voice of her boss obliged her to stop and look behind.
"Do you mind a cup of coffee with me?" Her boss asked. "Of course Ma'am, why not?"
Gunjan ordered two cup of coffees and they both got up and sat on the sofa beside the desk.
"You look too happy and content these days. What happened?" her boss inquired.
"Nah…nothing really…" Gunjan tried to hide her face as her boss was reading it quite literally .
"Gunjan, right now I am not your boss Ms. Shilpa Sharma, OK. Don't forget that I am your aunty and your best friend's mother too. I have known you all my life. I have been noticing this sudden change and thought that we need to speak about this." Shilpa said, relaxing Gunjan.
Gunjan smiled. "Of course aunty, you know the things that I can share with you, I really can't do it with my mom. I mean she is not bad or something, but I guess we have this communication gap or maybe a generation gap. But with you it's always been like I am talking to my peer. I think you are the best mom in this whole world." She blurted.
"Hmm…I am also like your mom na…well what's life if we don't interact with the young generation? In fact I love the way your minds work. It's so different and unique; the way you all think and react…it's like a lesson in itself." Shilpa said as she rested her back against the soft cushion.
The peon brought two cup of coffees and left the room. There was spilt second silence between both of them. "You know aunty" Gunjan said suddenly.
"There is always a sense of satisfaction when you confess something to the other person." Shilpa did not utter a word and let Gunjan go with the flow.
"You confess your deep feelings and inner thouhgts… but in a way do not expect an optimistic response from the person, but you are happy and content. It's so strange but the feeling is so…so… good…and also by knowing the response…you…you do not retaliate in a forceful manner…or even in anger…I mean…well I don't know if am able to make sense at all…but…" Gunjan confessed but it became difficult to frame it up in a sentence.
"It's called 'Acceptance'." Shipla said looking up at Gunjan.
"In a way you accept things to be like that. And you know… that is a sign of maturity. That is the best thing you can do. You cannot change the other person's perception, but you accept the truth and deal with it. In fact that is exactly what I did as I accepted Mayank's father's truth. I am so happy you did that." Shilpa comforted her as she placed her hand on Gunjan's shoulder.
Gunjan had never felt so nice before. She can tell anything to her Shilpa aunty, knowing the fact that she will not judge it. She herself had gone through so much pain in her life that getting her views on certain issues is always of great help.
"Thanks aunty…you are simply the best." Gunjan hugged her tightly. She knew that such discussion she could only have with Shilpa aunty, but not her own mother.
"Chalo chalo…ab bahut philosophical baatein ho gayi…let's get on to work, or else your boss will get angry." Shilpa winced as she looked at Gunjan.
"Yes Boss" Gunjan reverted mockingly.

"Where did I write that number?" Samrat murmured to himself as he searched his diary pages vehemently. Suddenly he stopped flipping the pages as he found a number scribbled at the corner of the last page. 'Gunjan Mehra—9699463456'.
"Ahh…finally! But where is the landline number. I cannot call on her personal number the very first time." He said to himself. But he was left with no choice as he had lost that scrap of paper.
He dialed the number on his mobile. He waited for someone to receive the call as he played drums on his desk with his fingers.
"Hello" A sweet slender voice said.
Awaaz toh achi hai! Samrat thought. "Ermm…am I speaking to Ms. Gunjan Mehra?" he questioned with his sweet and diplomatic tone.
"Of course, you called on my cell number. It will be definitely Gunjan Mehra." Duh! She said rolling her eyes.
Samrat sneered at her reply. "Of course…ermm…ahh…actually I am Samrat Shergill, from the 'Hindustan Times', a senior feature writer. I have to write an article on the young achievers in a managerial firm. I was wondering if I could take your interview or something…that will be a great help." Samrat said confidently.
"Interview" Gunjan raised her eyebrows and stopped her work instantly. "Ermm…how did you get my personal number? You should have called me in my office landline." She said irritably.
"Umm…well I am sorry I bothered you, but I lost the landline number. Hence I had to call up on your personal number, and to answer your first question, well Mayank Sharma had given me your name and details. He said you will be of great help to me." He concluded.
"Excuse me?" Gunjan said surprisingly.
"Ohh…I mean in writing my story." He cleared the misconception as an eccentric grin got pasted on his face.
What the hell…why did Mayank give him my number? She creased her eyebrows as she contemplated hard.
"Hello…Ms. Mehra?" Samrat inquired.
"Umm…yea…OK…shall we meet tomorrow then?" Gunjan asked.
"Oh! Cool with me. Tomorrow, 6 in the evening?" he confirmed.
"Sure. See you then." Gunjan fixed the meeting and pressed the red button.
