Part 8

Images of Rohan's panicked face kept replying in Sukirti's mind. His emaciated body and his eyes looking for answers which were all she could think of. Burning tears formed in her eyes and the tear slowly fell down her cheeks. She ran away from there unable to control her self. She heard Karan following her. As soon as Karan got close enough he too wanted some answers.

"You haven't forgiven me", Karan said with a gloomy face.

Sukirti couldn't believe the words coming out of his mouth.

"Don't you dare make this whole thing about you", she yelled pointing her fingers at him.

She waited for Karan to answer but when he didn't say anything she continued, "Karan I dropped a heart in there, do you know what that means? I killed a god damn patient and all you can think of is if I have forgiven you or not? I never thought you'd get this low. I'm disgusted to say that I still love you", she raged out. Karan was astounded by the response he got. He didn't expect it but either way he knew this was exactly what he deserved. He tried to defend him self but no words came out o let it go. What would he say? Sorry to her? He already tried that and looking at the situation he hadn't actually work out.

"I'm sorry '."

"That's an old story, you might want to try something else", Sukirti cut in before Karan could finish his sentence.

"It wasn't your fault", he tried.

"Yeah, that's what everyone says, if I hadn't concentrated on our stupid break-up none of this would've happened", she stated.

Karan thought of leaving Sukirti alone, if he said something else it might make it worse. He then walked away with out saying anything.

Sukirti saw a jeep pulling over in front of her. She wiped away her tears and ran for the person who was getting off from the front seat. She hugged him happily and let go after a few seconds.

"I'm so glad your back Pankit", she said glowing with happiness.

"Me too Sukku", Pankit replied with a smile on his face.

Seeing a worried look on his sister's face he began, "What happened?"

"Nothing serious", she replied.

"I can't wait to meet Karan; you haven't talked about him for a while. Did you guys have a fight?" he asked with an interest.

"Yeah, something like that", she replied.

"What do you mean by that?" he questioned again.

"I mean we kind of broke up. Don't ask me what happened, it's a very long story", she added before he could ask anymore questions. She had made just about the worst mistake and his quires were not making it easy on her.

"Where's Shweta?" Sukirti asked changing the topic.

"Look", he replied moving his whole body towards the right.

Sukirti ran to Shweta and hugged her as well.

"Hey Sukku", Shweta replied to Sukirti's hug. They both gave of a chuckle and headed to the Sanjeevani door swapping stories along the way.

When they got to the 3^rd floor Amit caught a glimpse of Sukirti and moved quickly towards her. He stopped her when she was just about to enter the elevator.

"Can I have a moment with you?" He asked, more of a demand than a request.

He saw another girl right next to her and figured out that it must be the doctor returning from the trip.

"Sure", she answered and followed Amit wondering why and what he wanted to talk to her.

When they reached to his cabin he sat down in his chair looking a bit annoyed.

"I found out about the surgery", he paused. "Will you tell what happened"?

Even though Amit's face looked mad he didn't show it on his tone, he kept calm and gave Sukirti a chance to explain herself.

"I'm sorry, it was my mistake and it will never happen again", she apologized.

"I asked you what happened", he repeated.

"I can't tell you", she replied with her head down.

"Why not?"

"It's personal"

"What you did today was professional then"?

She looked up feeling guiltier than before.

"I said I'm sorry", she said.

"You being sorry won't bring back Mr. Rohan now does it", he asked putting her on the spot. Sukirti didn't say anything, instead she felt her eyes tear up.
