Hey my lovelies!
Ridhima was jerked out of her thoughts. "Gauri, what is it?" she asked.
Gauri caught hold of her hand and pulled her away excitedly. "Ridhima, I just heard from Bhanumati that prince Rahul is returning back from Swe!? Switzl? Swissland!?-" Gauri was stuttering on the name when Ridhima asked "Switzerland?"
"Yes! Exactly," quipped Gauri.
"Gauri, the way you are excited, I feel you have never seen him before," said Ridhima.
"Yes my dear Ridhima, even though we work here, we hardly get a glimpse of the Royalty! It is their personal servants, the dining staff and the royal guards who are always the lucky ones! Prince Rahul is returning after 5 years, so everyone is excited to see him. Moreover, comparisons are bound to be made between prince Rahul and Prince Armaan! But one thing is sure, prince Rahul may be good in all aspects but prince Armaan is the best! I am looking forward to catch a glimpse of him when he shall be there to welcome his brother," said Gauri dreamily.
"How exactly are you going to get a peek at him?" asked Ridhima skeptically.
"Not only me, but you too may get a peek at them because all the palace staff gets to be present in the welcoming," replied Gauri excitedly.
Ridhima's heart skipped a beat on hearing this and her stomach did a somersault at the thought of seeing him. Gauri heard her name being called out in the distance and quickly said to Ridhima, "Sorry Ridhima, got to go, had just come to share this juicy snippet with you. Catch you later." She winked at her and left.
Ridhima retreated to her room. She closed the door behind her and sat on the bed. Her mind was a mixture of thoughts. She was excited at the thought of seeing him but at the same time she was also wondering whether she would have to wait till the welcoming to see him or would she be lucky enough to spot him before that? Would her first sight of him last a few seconds or a few minutes? But that first glimpse of him would be etched on her mind forever. The thoughts just went on and on but she decided to halt them. She brought out a book from her case and sat reading but yet she couldn't block the thoughts from her mind. She had to put in real efforts to do so!
Armaan was still lost in his thoughts when he realized that he had already arrived at BR's room. He knocked at the door and entered. There was no one present. Silence prevailed. BR who was sitting on her bed with eyes closed and her head resting on the headrest slowly opened her eyes and looked around. She could feel her son's presence around her. "Pranam mom," he said and touched her feet to take her blessings.
BR was delighted to see her son. She had really wanted to see him after RS left. She smiled at him with a twinkle in her eye. Armaan wondered what had made his Mom so happy. He really wished that she could also express her feelings like any of them. His heart ached for her. He always prayed to God for nothing but to restore his mother's health. He really wanted to hear her voice. He wanted her to call out his name lovingly. He wanted to lie down with his head on her lap when he was worried like this. He wanted her to rake a hand through his hair and stroke his head lovingly so as to disperse all his worries. He really ached for that loving motherly touch full of affection. He wished that such a day would come soon in his life. He closed his eyes and sighed. BR saw that something was bothering her son and so she raised her eyes so as to ask what was worrying him. Armaan saw the worried expression in his mother's eyes and realized that his mother had been observing him. He put on a fake smile to cheer his mother, but BR knew better. She gave him a questioning look. Armaan didn't want to bother his mother with these things so he just told her that he was worried about the school project that RS had assigned him. But BR knew that Armaan was still keeping something from her. She simply stared at him unconvinced. Armaan saw the look in her eyes and got the idea that she didn't believe him. So he decided to tell her everything knowing that she would understand.
"Ma," he began, "as you know, pitaji has fixed my alliance with Princess Muskan," BR nodded and he continued, "forgive me for saying this, but I do not feel that Muskan is the right choice for me."
BR was shocked on hearing this. She simply stared at her son. Armaan understood her apprehension and so he told her everything that he had witnessed the previous night and also about the riverside girl, how she had saved his life and the kind of feelings he possessed for her.
"Ma, I have never felt like this for any girl. But this girl really keeps haunting my memories. Whenever I think about her, I want to know more about her. I just feel that we are made to be together. I haven't even conversed with her, yet I feel that she is an important part of my life."
BR didn't know how to react. She was shocked and at the same time happy too. She was glad that her son had found someone he wanted to spend his life with. But the outcome of it scared her. Just a few minutes ago, RS had been so happy with Armaan and now if he came to know that Armaan didn't want to marry Princess Muskan but a commoner in place of her he would be shocked, hurt and disappointed.
Armaan could see a mixture of emotions in her eyes and said, "Ma, I can understand your anxiety, but don't worry, I'm not going to mention this to pitaji or anyone for that matter, till I don't meet her again or find some more information about her. As for Princess Muskan, I'll try to remain away from her as much as possible and if I ever come in contact with her, I'll act as normal as possible. Meanwhile, you just pray that pitaji is in no hurry for the marriage and I succeed in finding that riverside girl."
BR relaxed a bit and she was glad that she had such an understanding son. She nodded her head and smiled reassuringly. Armaan was delighted on seeing this, just as he had expected, his mother understood him well. He chatted for a while with her and got up to leave. He told her, "Thank you Ma, for understanding me, now I have to leave as pitaji shall be waiting for me." He made her lie down on the bed and put a blanket over her. He kissed her forehead, touched her feet and took her blessings and left with a promise to be back at night.

RS was sitting in his study and was going through some files when there was a knock on the door and the voice of Armaan seeked permission to enter. RS looked up and was happy to see him. He granted permission and Armaan entered. He touched RS's feet and said, "Pranam pitaji, sorry to keep you waiting, actually I had been to see mom and while talking to her, I never know where time flies."
RS smiled at his son and said, "It's okay son, have a seat."
Armaan sat on the chair opposite him and asked, "how was your trip pitaji, did we get the project?"
On hearing about the project, RS's face turned grim. He became silent. Armaan was worried seeing his expression. He thought that they had missed it. He knew how important the project was for his father and he was sad that they didn't get it. He said, "I'm sorry pitaji, I shall work hard next time and make sure that we get the project. I'm really sorry, I should've worked hard."
RS felt proud on hearing those words, every action of Armaan made him think that he was the ideal son who every father would feel proud to have and that he was just perfect. But Armaan always proved him wrong by becoming better and better with each passing day. He set his own benchmarks and then he himself broke those to set even higher ones making his parents more and more proud of him. Armaan was standing there with a guilty expression on his face. RS was shocked that Armaan was so upset about it so he decided to stop playing games and tell him the truth.
"But I haven't said anything about not getting the project. Have I?" he asked. Armaan was now confused.
"Well, what should I say, you had done the project report so well that there was little I could do and the clients were so impressed with it that they had no other option but to give it to us," said RS.
It took a moment for the news to sink in. Armaan was overjoyed. "Oh pitaji, this is fantastic!" he replied.
RS smiled and hugged his son, "I'm proud of you my son, keep it up." Armaan discussed the school project with RS and told him the reason for selecting this particular location and RS was impressed. He also liked the pace with which the project was progressing and he knew that before the marriage of Armaan it would be completed.
