I am speechless!!! wow that was amazing!! btw did angad just hit her with a flower vase (filmi style 😆 )? 😆 jk....
no evee Angad did not hit her as much as i know you wish that!!😃😆
The first thing Kripa noticed when she regained consciousness was that she had a pounding headache. It wasn't just a normal headache either. It was a there's-no-tomorrow-I'm-going-to-die-today type of migraine.
The second thing she noticed was that there were voices around her. She couldn't see anyone, but she could certainly hear them. They were doing nothing to soften their voices. Their loudness wasn't exactly helping cure her headache. As much as Kripa wanted to get up and tell them to shut up, she couldn't move. The slightest movement on her part just made her head hurt even more. In fact, now that she was a little more awake she was beginning to notice other aches and pains on her body. Her right arm felt like it was being pounded on by hammers and her right hip felt very sensitive. The smallest movement sent the whole right side of her body into spasms of pain. It was even too much of an effort to open her eyes.
After a few moments of silent agony she found that her headache wasn't so bad if she focused on something else. So she decided to do just that. She lay as still as possible and listened to what the voices around her were saying.
"How long do you think she's going to stay like that?" a deep voice asked. Try as she might, Kripa couldn't identify the voice. The harder she tried to remember, the more her head hurt, so she decided to let it go and continue to listen.
"I don't know. It could take minutes, days, even weeks," another voice answered.
"What the hell do you mean you don't know? You're a doctor aren't you? You're supposed to know these things!" the first voice yelled out.
Kripa flinched. The man was making her headache pound like crazy. She decided then and there that she would dislike him for eternity. No one who inflicted so much pain, even if it was unintentional, deserved to be liked. Besides, it was just common courtesy not to yell in front of others, especially if they were injured. The man obviously had no manners and Kripa decided that she would give him a piece of her mind as soon as she was able to.
"I may be a doctor, Mr. Khanna, but even I don't know everything. It's always hard to predict when someone with such a serious head injury will regain consciousness. For all I know, she'll never wake up again," the second man answered calmly.
The first man, a Mr. Khanna, obviously didn't like that diagnosis because he just started to yell again. "What do you mean she'll never wake up? She has to. I'm not keeping her forever!"
"I'm sorry sir, but there's nothing I can do. The temporal lobe of her brain took quite a beating when she fell. It's not possible to cure that kind of an injury, even with the most high-tech equipment."
"Well, move her to a hospital then. She's not staying here!"
"I'm afraid that's not an option. We can't risk moving her. We might cause more damage. The best thing for her is to stay here until we can be sure that she's okay and we won't injure her further."
"Well, I'm afraid that's not an option. No way in hell is she staying here!"
Kripa had heard enough. There was no way in hell she wanted to stay here. It was time to open her eyes and let the two men know that she was conscious. Centimeter by centimeter she opened her eyes. When her eyes were halfway open she groaned out loud. The light inside the room was making her head feel like there were a thousand knives stabbing at it.
The two men immediately ceased their arguing when they heard her groan. The man called Mr. Khanna sighed. Kripa assumed that he was sighing in relief. Her anger started to take over. What kind of man was this that he wanted to kick out an injured person?
Kripa heard someone move towards the bed; at least she was assuming it was a bed, and stop right beside her. He took out a strange looking yellow stick and stuck it in her mouth. The tip of the yellow stick started to gain a red color after he took it out of her mouth. Kripa was still too disoriented to realize that yellow sticks aren't supposed to turn a reddish color. The only orientation she possessed was focused on giving Mr. Khanna and tongue lashing for the way he was behaving. If anyone deserved to be yelled at, it was him.
Before Kripa could open her mouth to start yelling, headache be damned, the man with the strange looking yellow stick suddenly held out a glass with a simmering red liquid inside and told her to drink it. Kripa shook her head. No way was she drinking that.
The man however proved to be persistent. The more Kripa refused, the more stubborn he became. She finally gave in when she realized that shaking her head was just aggravating her headache. Besides the other man had called this one a doctor right? So how bad could the drink be?
Kripa tentatively sipped that brew and immediately wished that she hadn't. It tasted awful. It was bitter and sour at the same time. Kripa moved her head away. Again the man persisted, this time with soothing words telling her that she was doing well. It was only a few more sips, said the man. Kripa finally gave in and drank the foul tasting brew in one gulp. The man praised her lavishly.
Kripa closed her eyes in an attempt to take away the taste. Obviously it didn't help. She heard footsteps again and assumed that the doctor was moving away. She opened her eyes again and found herself staring into the most beautiful eyes she had ever seen. They looked grey at first glance, but closer inspection showed that they were more of a cool silvery color with a darker shade around the iris. Kripa's breath caught in her throat. She knew that this was Mr. Khanna. He couldn't have been the doctor because the doctor had chocolate colored eyes.
Kripa attempted to say something, but it sounded more like a groan than actual words. Angad backed off when he heard her groan. He was finally far away enough for her to see the man's full face. Once again Kripa's breath caught. The man had soft brown hair that fell in soft waves around his face. Some of the waves fell on his eyes and Kripa had the strangest urge to brush them back. His skin was a slight tannish color. His body was extremely muscular. All of Kripa's intentions to yell at him faded from her mind when the man raised an eyebrow and looked back at her. She blushed under his intent gaze. Luckily she was saved when the doctor started talking.
"Hello. How are you feeling?" he asked.
Kripa shifted her gaze from Angad to the doctor. She looked him in the eyes. "I'm okay, but I have huge headache," she whispered.
"Oh I'm sorry. The light must be bothering you," he said. Kripa nodded weakly. The doctor moved away towards a window to shut the drapes. She watched him walk away and finally had a chance to see her surroundings. The room she was in was huge, but sparsely furnished. There was a window right across from her. It dominated most of the wall. There was a closet on her left and a desk on her right. Kripa herself was on a four poster bed with green bedding. She was covered under the bedding till her waist. She looked at her right side. Her right hand was bandaged from the wrist to the elbow. There was a small bruise on her upper arm. She couldn't see if her waist was okay because she was covered with the bedding. Just as Kripa was about to look under the bedding she saw that the doctor had returned.
"Is that better?" he asked.
Kripa noticed that the room had gotten a little darker. She smiled in response. "It's a lot better. Thank you."
"My name is Dr. Rainer. What's yours?" he asked.
Kripa opened her mouth to answer, but nothing came out. She blinked furiously. What was her name? Why couldn't she remember her name? It was a simple question, so why couldn't she answer it? Kripa was beginning to panic now. She was beginning to take shallow breaths. She couldn't breathe properly. Who was she?
"Are you alright?" the doctor asked hastily when he noticed that her complexion had gone pale.
"I…I don't know my name," Kripa whispered pitifully, still trying to breathe normally.
The doctor took her hand and patted it. "It's okay. Just take deep breaths. That's right. Nice and easy," he complimented her when she complied with his command. He continued to pat her hand until she had calmed down. He let go of her hand and sat down beside her on the bed.
"Feeling better?" he inquired of the now calm Kripa.
She nodded slowly. "What's wrong with me?" she asked softly.
"Well you took quite a nasty fall. You bumped your head pretty hard. You might have bumped it so hard that you have amnesia. A loss of memory," he clarified when he saw her blank look.
"Is it permanent?" she asked.
"No. You should regain your memory soon," he said quickly when he saw that she was getting worked up again.
"How soon?" asked Angad. Kripa had forgotten that there was another occupant in the room.
"It's impossible to tell. It could take anywhere from days to years," Dr. Rainer explained.
Angad looked positively horrified at that possibility. Kripa was certain that the same expression was mirrored on her face.
"Years!" she whispered.
Dr. Rainer looked at her and noticed that the color she had regained in her cheeks was once again lost. He decided to change the subject to give her some time to get used to the idea.
"Would you like something to drink? Water perhaps?" he asked.
"Yes please," responded Kripa. She realized what the doctor was trying to do and silently thanked him.
Dr. Rainer smiled. He took the jug and poured Kripa a glass of water. Kripa obediently drank it. The two men excused themselves leaving Kripa alone.
"What the hell was that?" asked Angad, surprise clearly evident in his voice.
"She has amnesia," the doctor answered.
"I know that!" snapped Angad.
The doctor glared at him. "If she forgot her name, it's possible that she's forgotten other things about herself as well."
Angad stared at the doctor as if asking, "So?"
