The Storyteller

It was a hot day. I was going with my nephew's Uday, Dia, and Benji to another city in the train. They were annoying kids about 6 to 9 years old, but I really love them. I sit with them.

Dia: hum kahan jaa rahe hai?

Nupur:Ummmm, mere saath nahi jaana kya?

Uday:Nahi maasi, hum chale ge na.

I smile. They all looked bored. I look out the window.

Nupur: Ek kahani sunao?

Benji: Haan of corse.

Nupur: Ok, once upon a time, a girl name Dia, was living with her dad, her dad died, and she rules the kingdom, par ek din, uss kingdom ki enemies, ussko marr ne ki khosish karte hai, par she gets safe, and she lives happily ever after.

Benji:Boooooooo.

Dia:Sabse horrible kahani hai yeh.

I realize a guy sitting in front of us.

Guy: Haan bhacche sahhi keh rahe hai.

Nupur: Par tumko pata hai na, ke koi story itni achi nahi hoti, ke sab bhacho ko pasand aaye.

Guy:Wrong.

Nupur:Really? Ok then, you tell them a story.

Guy:Ok.

The children looks at him with interest.

Guy:Once upon a time-

Di:Booooooooo.

Benji:Har story same to same hoti hai, no mattter who tells them.

Guy:Ok then aage nahi sun na?

Uday:Nahi, tell.

Guy:Ok, then, once upon a time, there was this little girl Sanam who was perfect at everything. And she earned many gold medals, and everyone loves her.

Dia:Was she pretty?

Guy:She was pretty indeed.

I see that the children had all the attention on him.

Guy:Ok , so everyone talks about her, and the prince, heard about her too. And he was so impressed by her that he let her go in his garden.

Dia:Did the garden had flowers?

Guy:No.

Benji:Why?

Guy:Because the prince secret men told him that he will die, if he smells a flower.

Whatttttttt????????????This story is horrible!!!!

Dia:So it didn't have flowers.

Guy:Yes. Ok so then, one day Sanam goes in the garden, all happy. She was so glad that she was able to go in the "Garden" no one was ever able to go, except the prince and his mens. She saw a big bad wolf coming.

Dia:Was he black.

Guy:Yeah, with a red toung.

Guy:Ok so the poor girl try to run away, and then she realize how unlucky she was that she got a chance to come here, she should of been in her home safe.

Dia:So did she die?

Guy:Yes, the wolf ate her.

The chirlren seem to love this story.

Nupur:Why? This story is horrible. Tumne bhacho ko itni stupid story suna yi hai?

Guy:Hello? At least I kept them quite for at least 10 minutes, longer than you could.

The trian stop in a station, and he leave.

Nupur:Wait.

Guy:What?

Nupur:I would like to know ur name.

Guy:Mayank. Why?

Nupur:Thanks, you are a great storyteller.

He smiles.
