Part 9

After those three meetings with Nupur, Mayank became really confused about that guy who annoyed Nupur that much. He felt that Nupur wasn't secure at all and that he needed to help her out. He forgot about his mother, Samrat but the only thing on his mind was Nupur and that guy.

After 1 week:

They all started the day as normal, Mayank went to his office and so did Gunjan. Nupur was in Gunjan's office today.

..................

N: arrey Gunjan, isn't this office really boring, I mean look at the colours of these walls. Seriously you need to change the wall's colour.

G: Di, they are fine, what's wrong with them.

N: and also you should put a vase of flower it would make it look good.

G: ok, Di I will do it later

N: then u can also put some posters of SKR, it would look amazing

M: and then Nupur

Nupur was surprised who this is talking in a male voice. Nupur and Gunjan stood up. They saw Mayank behind Nupur's chair

G: Good morning, sir

M: how many times did I tell you Gunjan don't call me sir, Mayank is fine, plz.

N: hey Mayank, when did u come?

M: well from the start of conversation, when u were telling Gunjan to change things in my office. Well if u want I don't mind changing them, Nupur

N: No Mayank, they look wonderful, I was just bored so I was kidding with Gunjan.

M: oh k

M: Gunjan can you please get me the file of the Sanjay Company and do the improvements and Nupur please could you come to my cabin

N and G: sure Mayank (the three of them laugh)

Gunjan leaves to get the file and Mayank and Nupur go to Mayank's cabin

Samrat was walking round Central London, he was betrayed. He didn't understand why he listened to Diya so much. How could he be a big fool to actually listen to Diya? He started thinking back at what had happened between them, how they had met, how he first invited her for dinner but she didn't come, and how she made him do all the shopping because of her excuses and how he found out her reality when he when to her office. He was very depressed. He didn't realize how this happened.

While walking he walks into a pub not thinking about anything. He sits down at the bar and orders a drink. He felt very lonely and was at the verge of crying but he stopped himself thinking that, from now on he would not care about Diya and will try to forget her. One by one he drank a lot and didn't realize that he was completely drunk. It was quite late by then way past midnight. He came out of the pub and found it hard to remember where his car was and when he found his car he drove off. Samrat was driving very badly, always nearing to have an accident but as it was really late many cars were not on the road. As, he got home he was very tired and fell asleep.

Next morning, Samrat woke up having a hangover from last night. He told his servant to get him something for his headache. He got up and had a cold shower thinking about what had happened so recently. He came out and saw a glass of water with some medicine on his bedside table. He took it and went downstairs. He felt like talking to someone to express his feeling, he first thought of Mayank but he would give him a big lecture for missing meetings, so the next person he had on might was Shilpa aunty. Straightaway he called the airlines agent and booked his ticket for that very day at night. Now, he was looking forward to meet Shilpa as she was the only one he could tell his problems and give him advice.

......................

While going to Mayank's cabin both don't know how to start talking.

Nupur's thinking about the shock that she has to give Mayank and Mayank is thinking about how to ask Nupur about that guy. They reach Mayank's cabin.

M: Take a seat Nupur.

Mayank's room was comfortable as it was Samrat's. So everything was comfortable. There was a sofa so Nupur took a seat. Mayank called someone and ordered for coffee as he knew that Nupur likes coffee.

M: well...

Nupur looks up

M: how's life been going?

N: everything's fine, I just have a day off. And how about u?

M: my life is fine, if u want u can work here in this office for any post u want but i kno u would get bored in one hour without any SRK movie. (smiling)

N: tum bi na Mayank...

M: yes... me...

The coffee arrives and both were chatting and while drinking coffee that's when Mayank noticed a ring on her hand.

M: Nupur...

N: hmm...

M: what's that ring on ur ring finger

N: well...

M: don't hesitate Nupur, tell me, ...(no response from Nupur) come on

N: well, (so scared to say it, closed her eyes and said it in one breathe) it's my engagement ring!

M: (stood up immediately) what?

N: (stood up) yes I am engaged

Mayank was really shocked; he couldn't believe what she just said

M: (he thought she might be joking) you're kidding, right...Nupur it's not a time to be joking around

N: Mayank, I am serious. It's someone called Ranvijay!

M: Is it a love marriage or arranged

N: arranged, and I came here to give you an invitation card. I really want you to be present at my wedding

M: and when is that?

N: next week, exactly 7 days

M: what?!

Nupur felt that Mayank wasn't really happy about all of this so she wanted to change the topic. She handed the invitation card which Mayank opened and looked.

M: congratz, Nupur. I never knew that u would give me a shock like this.

N: (to make him feel better) well I expect a really big gift from u

M: of course

M: sit down Nupur, so how come u and that Ranvijay got engaged, do u like him, is he nice, i mean do u like him or do u love him

Nupur didn't know how to answer these questions.

N: (Mayank noticed Nupur's facial expressions, which were not happy) yeah, of course I like him, he is really nice to me.

M: And how, when did u get engaged?

Nupur didn't want to lie to Mayank at all.

N: Mayank I really have to go, I will explain to u later, bye

Nupur leaves without even looking back once

..............

Mayank came to the conclusion that the guy that he saw with Nupur was the one that she is engaged to. But why is she lying to him that she likes him.

M: there must be some mystery behind this, and I must find it out, I am not letting Nupur marry someone whom she doesn't even like and someone who tortures her.

The whole day Mayank was thinking on what to do and where to get the information from. He thought and thought. The whole day he didn't do any work but when Gunjan entered his cabin to make him sign papers he got the idea.

M: hey Gunjan, (he didn't even sign the papers) so what's the plan for tonight

G: Nothing much, Di would not be at home so I will do the cooking

M: oh k. I will see u later. Bye.

He left his cabin and drove off to his mansion. He took the yellow sari that he bought for Gunjan and refreshed then got ready and when it was time he drove off to Nupur's flat.

He pressed the bell

No answer

And the second time

From inside

G: ur early di....(opened the door) Mayank

M: Hi Gunjan

G: Hi, how come you're here? I mean i didn't expect u here

M: am I not allowed or something

G: no, no... Welcome Mayank, come on

Mayank enters the house and sees the beautiful decorations and is wondering who would have done them.

M; wow, Gunjan ur flat looks fabulous.

G: Thx, Mayank, its Di who's done all of this.

M: oh k

G: take a seat

M: thx

He handed the sari

G: oh thx Mayank, u didn't need to bring anything

M: no Gunjan, I didn't give u anything, this is just a present for letting Nupur stay with me for 2 weeks in the hospital, that's y

G: it's k Mayank. Coffee or cold drink

Mayank was in rush to know about RV and the ring

M: Gunjan, i will have it later on. (smiled) well, today I suddenly got Nupur's wedding card.

G: oh

M: Gunjan, when did Nupur get engaged and how and whom to. I know that his name is Ranvijay or something like that but does she like him

G: didn't di tell u about it

Mayank knew that if he said no then Gunjan wouldn't tell him so clearly he said yes

M: yes but I don't understand, how did it happen

Mayank himself didn't know what he was blabbering but he should make Gunjan think that he knows everything

M: so start from the beginning

G: well, Mayank let me bring something for u first then i will say it.

M: ok juice plz and fast

Mayank was getting really inpatient but Gunjan came with two glasses of orange juice and biscuits to eat.

G: here you u go Mayank (handing the drink)

M: thx gunjan

G: well, di and RV got engaged two years ago in the summer. She didn't want to get engaged but she couldn't do much about it. To my eyes, RV never seems like a gud person. One day, after di and me came from work, our aunt, told Nupur to wear a sari and come down. We didn't understand why but we always respected what our aunt said as she bought us up after our parent's death. Di and I thought that we are going somewhere so she got ready and aunt told me and Diya, our cousin to bring di down and to di to give chai. We were so confused, so as aunt said di took the chai and we saw four people seated. One of them was RV, then his parents and his brother. We didn't know why but when Dia saw them she was totally shocked, and so was RV but no one noticed that, it was only me and di, our aunt told di to give the chai.

Di handed the chai.

Aunt: A

A: Nupur, this is Ranvijay, Shankar ji, Padma ji, and Sanjay

N: Namaste (to all of them)

A: Shankar ji, is your dad's best friend and he is here to fulfil your dad's wish.

Gunjan and Nupur were in mixed emotions. What was their dad's wish? Will they be able fulfil it?

......................

But at that time Gunjan and Mayank heard the door opening

G: I think its di

M: k I have to go, bye

G: Mayank, di is here, why don't u talk to her then leave

M: no it's k Gunjan, i will see u in office, bye

Nupur enters

M: Hey Nupur bye

N: Mayank come in

M: no it's k, I have to go bye

................

Mayank leaves

N: Gunjan why was Mayank here

G: Oh, he was asking me about ur engagement

N: What? Did u tell him

G: yes

N: Why did u tell him?

G: Di, I thought that u already told him

N: Gunjan think, if I told him then y would he ask u

G: he told me that u already told him, and y don't u want him to know, di

N: I just don't want to

G: and y is that

Nupur was so angry she left in anger to her room.

Next morning

G: di wake up, I am sorry

G: plz di

Nupur woke up and saw Gunjan who was worried and scared. She hugged Gunjan

N: it's k Gunjan. I just didn't want him to know the reason that I agreed to this marriage but now I can't do much about it. Can I? (smiled)

G: actually di, he doesn't know anything about that coz when entered, i just told him about dad and Shankar uncle being friends and he doesn't know the rest

Nupur's face lit up. She was really happy to know that Mayank didn't know the rest of the story

N: that's great Gunjan, don't tell him, even if he asks u in office

G: sure di

Gunjan leaves for office and Nupur leaves for RV's house to do marriage arrangements. Gunjan is going to go to office today but she is going to ask for day off until Nupur's marriage is finished.

Gunjan's office

Gunjan went to Mayank's cabin to make him sign a file and ask him permission for a few days off. She knocked on the door. No responce and she knocked a second time. But then she didn't know what to do but Mayank always told her to don't knock, she could just enter. So she entered and saw Mayank in deep thought

................

Mayank was in deep thoughts, he was thinking about Nupur's flashback, he really wanted to know the rest of the story but he couldn't see the connection between Nupur's marriage and her dad's wish and that's when Gunjan entered.

................

G: Mayank

Mayank looked up

M: yes, Gunjan, I'm sorry I was thinking about something.

G: it's k, can u sign this and can I have a few days off until di's wedding plz

M: (he signed the papers) sit down Gunjan. No formalities between us, plz,

M: sure, Nu.. sorry I mean Gunjan. U can have as many days as much as u want and can u tell me the rest of the story plz

G: sorry Mayank , they just got engaged, and that's it

M: Gunjan, a bit more detailed,

G: no Mayank, I don't want to. I have to finish work on that file. May I go?

Mayank didn't want to force Gunjan anymore. He just nodded and left

G: I am sorry Mayank about that.

M: It's k Gunjan (faintly smiles)

The whole week passed, Gunjan and Nupur were busy in RV 's house for marriage arrangements, shopping, and Mayank came to Nupur's house everyday, but they were never available and one week passed and tomorrow morning was the wedding.
