Just then, the lights turned off....
Rid - armaan... yeh tumhaare surprise ke liye hai ya phir sach main lights chali gayi?
There was no response...
Rid - armaan!
Riddhima was completely lost, not only was it pitch black... but it appeared that she would have to find her own way rather than getting any help from armaan... just as she was about to walk towards, she received a page.... her eyes widened as she struggled to reach the door.. she heard a sigh behind her and jumped...
Arm - you can go.... (sighing deeply)
Armaan turned the lights on and pouted... ridz cupped his cheeks and kissed him on the forehead..
Rid - sorry... maybe next time... love yu
Arm - love you too.. (crossing his hands)
Ridz smiled as she hurried to sanjeevani... truth being, the only reason armaan let her go was because even he was paged... he then decided to surprise ridz after duty whenever he could (:
Nikki's House
Nikki had woken up quite early that morning... she got ready and sat on the window ledge in her room... she looked outside the window, allowing the sun to make her face glow even more... she sat there, absorbing every emotion without being aware of simmy's presence
Sim - (fake cough) koi hai yaha?
Nikki was still unaware of her presence...
Sim - oyye miss.chikki... kya kar rahi hai tu? (exclaiming it)
Nikki came back to earth and shook her head..
Nik - kya hai di... i was so relaxed...
Simmy went and sat beside her...
Sim - kya karun... tujhe pareshaan karna mujhe bahot accha lagta hai (laughing)
Nik - (smiling) waise di... jiju kaha hai? Woh nahi aaye?
Sim - no.... as usual, he's busy... i tell you nikki... mujhe laga tha ki he will always be there for me during this time and jo sab movies main dikhaate hai woh sab karega.. lekin woh sab karne ke liye toh time hi nahi hai uske paas...
Nik - (confused with what she was referring to) di.. aapka kya matlab hai?
Sim - nikki! Mujhe kacche aam chahiye! Abhi ke abhi... (not really.. she only said that to give nikki the hint that she was soon going to be a mother)
Nik - toh theek hai na... main abh... KYA!!! (excited)
Nik - are you serious di!! Main maasi ban ne waali hu?
Sim nodded her head as nikki hugged sim tightly..
Nik - thats awesome!!! Ab toh mujhe jiju se baat karni hi hogi..
Nikki took simmy's phone and threw herself on her bed as she dialled raj's number
*tring tring*
Raj - hello
Nik - hi (very loudly)
Raj - may i know who's speaking please?
Nik - sure, im your pyaari si lovely si... (taking a break cuz she knew that he would recognize her)
Raj - chikki!
Nik - jiju yaar.. yeh kya? Im not chikki any more...
Raj - (laughing) sure sure... lekin mere liye aur simmy ke liye toh tu hamesha hi chikki rahegi...
Nik - anyways.. maine aapko ek bahot important kaam se phone kiya hai...
Raj - woh kya hai?
Nik - how dare you leave my sister in a state like this and not even call her huh?
Raj - (getting a bit worried) she's alright no? Is she fine.. nikki give her the phone, i need to talk to her..
Nik - calm down jiju lekin this is not done... aapko abhi unke saath hona chahiye... you know, to satisfy all her needs...
Raj - theek hai saali-saheba.. lekin mujhe please phone dijiye..
Simmy stuck her hand out to get the phone but nikki took it away...
Nik - no way... yeh hi aapka punishment hai... either aap yaha aajao, or else you don't get to talk to her
Raj - heyy.. come on chikki... don't be such a spoilsport.. you know im busy na?
Nik - im busy too.. so take care... hope to see you soon.. jiju (ending with a laughter)
Nikki hung up the phone and smiled as she faced simmy, who pouted..
Sim - nikki.. i so don't like you right now.. so just leave..
Nikki hugged simmy and laughed.. - love you too di... and please don't call him... meri kasam
Sim - grrr... (fake anger... but then starts laughing) oh well.. mujhe pata hai woh aane hi waale the yaha...
Nik - noo way.. he cares about his work.. i don't think woh aayenge..
Sim - he'll come for sure.. no doubt about that...
Nik - and aap itne confidence ke saath kaise yeh keh sakti ho?
Sim - cuz i know he loves me...
Nik - oohh...
Sim - waise dekha jaaye toh agar mera jagah par tum hoti aur raj ke jagah par abhi, toh woh bhi jald se jald aa hi jaata no?
Nikki blushed and turned around - noo.. (stumbling) aap... woh.. nothing's like that...
Sim - sure...
Simmy got up and was about to leave when she felt a tug which turned her around.. and she felt her little sister's arms hugging her.. simmy laughed as tears formed in her eyes
Sim - you idiot.. you're so big now.. mujhe bataya bhi nahi..
Nik - woh sorry di... (wiping off simmy's tears and then holding her ears) next time bata doongi (ending off with a big laughter as she knew that there will be no next time..)
Sim - pagal.. cha lab tu jaa... or else tu late ho jaayegi...
Nik - theek hai... love you di

Sanjeevani
Mus - dr.riddhima... aapka patient mr.shah bahot hi critical hai...he will have to be put under observation, i expect you to always be there and when you are on your rounds, assign a nurse who can contact you ASAP.. mujhe lagta hai ki unhe heart failure ke risks
Rid - jee ma'am.. actually maine diagnosis karte wakt dekha ki unka blood pressure hamesha high rehta hai aur unke diabetic hone ke wajeh se aur bhi problems aati hai..
Mus - well for now, observe any significant behaviours in terms of pulse and all that... and if any complications, page me or dr. Rai or dr. Rahul....
Rid - okay ma'am.. i'll take your leave then
Observation Room
Mr. Shah had been moved to this room... ridz sat down and observed the blood pressure... it was under control for the moment.. she checked his medical history as she heard heavy groans right beside her... mr.shah clutched his heart and squinted his eyes... his heart was no longer working normally, preventing a normal flow of blood throughout mr.shah's body...
Mr.shah needed immediate attention... ridz ran to his side and performed CPR for a start... she saw armaan right outside and screamed...
Rid - armaaaan!!!
Armaan saw ridz struggling and rushed in the room.. he quickly analyzed the situation and took over to CPR... ridz quickly paged the nurse to get 2 bottles of blood and then paged dr.rai... meanwhile, armaan had given the patient a dose of "anaesthesia" (i suppose :S)
Dr.rai came rushing towards the room and wore his surgery apparel.. he ordered armaan and ridz to wear their surgery apparel after which the surgerical process had begun...
Dr.rai had already predicted that they will need to get a heart transplant done, but armaan insisted on a heart pump rather...
Arm - the pulse is very low.. the patient is sinking.. and i know that we don't have anyone ready for a heart transfer yet sir
Rai - are you absolutely sure dr.armaan?
Arm - yes sir...
Rai - okay.. heart pump it is..
(guys.. during sum research to try n make this at least sound sumwat real, i saw an article by the chief of cardiology at a university that they have made pumps that work continuously.. it floats in the blood... and keeps the heart working.. i apologize if this information is incorrect. Or the procedure.. so do bear with me)
Ridz successfully made the incision as armaan injected the patient with more anaesthesia... dr.rai inserted the pump and ordered ridz to stitch close the incision...
As ridz stitched the incision, dr.rai monitored the patient's pulse.. and armaan carefully helped ridz with the stitches with an eye of hope.. they had done their part.. now all they could do was wait... and wait... and wait...
Abhi's House
Abhi was horridly sick today... he coughed the whole time and as soon as he would try to get up, he would cough violently, ending up in bed again... he had no strength in him to get up, let alone go to work... his phone was lying beside him as he grabbed it and called sanjeevani..
Tring Tring
Lov - hello jee, this is sister lovely talking from sanjeevani.. how may i help you?
Abh - (coughing.. and then with a weak voice) may i please talk to dr.muskaan?
Lov - yes dr.abhi (smiling and giggling) oh jee aapko kya hua?
Abh - please unhe phone diji.. (cough) dijiye
Lov - okay... one second haan jee...
Abhi threw his head on his pillow as he waited for muskaan to come on the line...
Mus - hi dr.abhi.. kahiye, kya baat (hears coughing sounds in the back) are you okay?
Abh - ma'am.. woh (sniffing) my eyes are very teary.. and i (cough) cant stop coughing...
Mus - would you like a day off?
Abh - please ma'am..
Mus - of course, take care of yourself.. bye..
Abhi sighed.. and relaxed at the same time... he missed nikki ALREADY!!.. he really was crazy.. no wonder armaan and abhi barely talked now days.. he now knew how much armaan would long to be with ridz... luckily, they were still close.. he was certain that no matter what, his friendship with armaan wud never change for they know each other inside-out... there was no way anyone else could ruin their friendship, not even ridz or nikki themselves, not they would want to anyways...
In Taxi... (Nikki)
Nik - bhaiyya jaldi kijiye na... mujhe hospital pahonch na hai...
Nikki looked at her watch and felt a vibration.... she reached for her pager and realized that it was her phone... she immediately picked it up as she thought it would be abhi calling... but it wasn't him.. poor guy wanted to call, but his phone's battery died and the charger was all the way in his car... -.- he was really desperate to talk to her, but what to do... he wasn't in any condition to walk...
Nik - hello..
Mus - hello dr.nikita... dr.muskaan here
Nik - oh, good morning dr.muskaan...
Mus - same to you... anyways, maine aap ko isliye call kiya kyunki i want you to do a house call for a patient...
Nik - but i thought ki hum house calls nahi karte ma'am... not that i mind or anything. But.
Mus - we don't usually, but i think this time you should because its dr.abhimanyu that im talking about..
Nik - abhi?? (shocked to her wits) - thinking what the heck happened to him?? - kya hua usse?
Mus - i don't know.. but jab unhone leave ke liye phone kiya tha, tab he could barely even talk let alone take care of himself... toh main aapko 2 hours deti hu... go there, diagnose the problem, give him the medicines required, and then report back to duty which of course will be extended... hope i'm clear..
Nik - yes ma'am...
Mus - bye..
Nikki was scared yet surprised.... - he was perfectly fine yesterday... ab kya hua?
Nik - bhaiyya... yaha se U-turn maarlo, mujhe kahi aur jaana hai...
Abhi's House
Abhi let out another long cough as he felt his supply of oxygen reduce... he closed his eyes and concentrated on breathing and finally was able to breath normally again... nikki entered his room and was shocked to her wits as she saw abhi in a very poor state where his face had literally turned blue... she rushed over to his bed and couldn't make out anything... she was terrified of the state he was in.. she made mental observations of his symptoms as she gazed at abhi who was clenching his teeth and squinting his eyes.. she stuck out her hand and felt his burning neck...
Abhi opened his eyes and let out a weak smile... - tum aagayi? (coughing)
Nik - what happened abhi??
Abhi was about to answer but then he went through another successive attack of cough...
Nikki made abhi wear the oxygen mask (she had some equipment with her at the moment) and took out her pad, noting down her observations..
Observations - Abhimanyu Modi
- bluish skin, successive attacks of cough, swollen feet, unable to talk, weakness, breathing problems
Abhi coughed once again and grabbed nikki's hand… she clasped her hand with his and placed a kiss on his forehead...
Nik - don't worry, sab theek ho jaaye ga...
A tensed nikki rushed outside his room, wiped her tears and called dr.muskaan...
Nik - we have an emergency case ma'am...
Observation Room
Armaan, ridz and dr.rai were all waiting for mr.shah to regain his consciousness... mr.shah's fingers twitched as he slowly woke up from unconsciousness... he opened his eyes and felt at ease.... he saw three pairs of eyes staring intently at him as he smiled...
Rai - are you feeling better sir?
Sha (patient) - haan.. mujhe behtar lag raha hai...
Rai - thats good...
Arm - sir aapko ab sirf ek din ke liye yaha rehna padega taaki humme puuri tarha se yakeen ho jaaye ki aapko heart kabhi fail naa ho..
Sha - theek hai beta...
Rid - take care sir...
The three doctors left mr.shah in the room, assigning a nurse to keep observations...
Nurse Station
Armaan and ridz were paged to report at the nurse station... dr.muskaan waited for them and then saw them..
Mus - well, interns... today, dr.riddhima, you have night duty.. and dr.armaan, you have evening duty... you are free to take a break at the moment, but remember to immediately respond to pages... there are many cases already in the hospital.. you never know when more doctors will be needed so be aware
Both - yes ma'am...
Muskaan left and ridz walked away, rubbing her head... she went to washroom and splashed water on her face, and walked towards the cafeteria when she was pulled into the fire escape...
Fire Escape
Rid - armaan! (she mumbled)
Arm - you're very tired basket.. take a break
Rid - well mr.einstein.. main break lene hi jaa rahi thi... (in a tired voice)
Arm - whatever..
He said as he pulled ridz with him to the bottom stair and sat with her, holding her hand... ridz gently let her head fall on armaan's lap... armaan played with riddhima's locks as she fell asleep... she opened her eyes about 15 minutes after and felt armaan gently caressing her hair... she got up and rubbed her eyes, letting her loose hair fall back... her blurred vision slowly got better as she noticed armaan fiddling his thumbs absentmindedly now..
Rid - armaan.. what's wrong?
Arm - basket... (looking at ridzy now) nothing's wrong.. sirf... (sighing) promise me ki you'll never leave me (he said straightly)
Rid - armaan kaisi baatein kar rahe ho? Tumhe chod kar jaana is the same as committing suicide... meri jaan ho tum (placing her hand on his cheek) i love you more than my life.. tumhaare bina riddhima ka jeena naamumkin hai.. yeh khayal apne man se nikaal do...
Arm - riddhima... maine ek bahot bhura sapna dekha tha jab hum dono baat nahi kar rahe the tab...
Rid - let me guess.. related to papa not accepting our relationship right?
Armaan nodded as riddhima moved even closer to armaan and interlocked her fingers with his...
Rid - i don't care armaan... jo hoga woh.. main nahi tumse kabhi alag hogi, naa hi kissi ko humme juda (separate) karne duungi.. yeh tumhaari basket ka promise hai tumse..
Arm - i love you basket..
Rid - i love you too...
They both shared a passionate moment as both melted in each other's arms... armaan felt at peace, being with his one and only, basket... whereas, ridz was lost in the moment... she took in his fragrance as she hugged him... they let go of each other and headed towards the cafeteria...
Observation Room
Abhi was taken to Sanjeevani right after nikki had informed dr.muskaan of abhi's condition... his condition worsened when they arrived at the hospital... nikki was in charge of the case as she first diagnosed his illness... armaan ran to the room as soon as he found out that his brother was brought to the hospital...
Arm - nikki! Kya hua isse?
Rid - is he alright?
Nik - i don't know guys... lekin according to all the symptoms of his... i think he has bronchitis...
Rid - are you sure nikki?
Arm - nikki... tumne sab check kiya?
Armaan was tensed.. he was extremely scared... he was not allowed to go to abhi as only nikki and the assigned nurses were authorized to enter the room... the case was severe... nikki calmed armaan down...
Nik - armaan... don't worry... this is a case where inflammation of bronchi mucus membrane has occurred where the phlegm adheres and sticks, but we have a prescribed bronchodilator from which his airways will be cleared... usse abhi bilkul theek ho jaaye ga... bilkul ghabraao mat armaan... abhi is a fighter...
Armaan nodded and sat down on the bench...
** 2 Weeks Later **
I walked to my mirrored closet, staring at my reflection... i seemed older and more matured than i was 2 weeks ago... i was able to comprehend situations with a more realistic approach towards situations... my eyes seemed to be firm.... the door behind me opened as i heard...
Raj - come on chikki... its time to sleep
I sighed... of course i was still young in others eyes... i hugged my jeeju and went to bed... i texted abhi... "im off to bed.. love you abhi.. take care, nikki <3" i hugged my pillow and covered my body with the blanket as i awaited for sleep to overcome me
Sanjeevani
Finishing my mid-evening duty hours took me longer than expected. I had to get all the files ready for the next day... it was 1:00 am now... papa wasn't home, nor was nani... i felt the need to go to armaan... more sort of an urge than a desire... i headed towards his house, luckily, i had my car with me... no need for extra attention - i chuckled at my own thought... my eyes were sleepy as i finally reached armaan's house... the understanding and trust between us had reached such heights that i was certain that it was more possible that i would betray myself than vice versa... the 2 weeks changed everything... making each one of us appreciate every thing we have...
I reached armaan's house... i turned the door knob, only to find it locked... i checked my purse only to realize that i had left the house keys... i heaved a sigh of frustration as i looked for the nearest pipe... i climbed the pipe with minimal difficulty and discomfort... i opened his window and saw my prince charming lying on his bed with track pants and no shirt... his muscular body only tempted me more... i entered his room and put my purse in his closet as i pulled out a pair of his shorts and shirt... i changed and came out of the washroom... the moon gently reflected his skin's textures radiantly... i was amazed at how gracious god was to me... god had given me more than what i had wished for... i promised myself at the moment to never hurt armaan or leave him...
I gently climbed on the bed as i put my arms around his waist, laid my head on his chest... thinking of the events that occurred in the past 2 weeks...
Hey Guys!!!
I am totally ready to get hurt by all the tomatoes and chappals that will be thrown on me... but i swear... i was really busy!! i was helping out at a summer camp for 2 weeks.. and then unplanned visits to places... but ya..
i sincerely apologize to all of you.... this part is hopefully a good way to be back... i made it incredibly long (at least i think its long😆 😆)
