So naina is a journalist in this fic n she enjoys her work n this is first time she is reporting on a fair

Her watch showed 1 O' clock. It was lunch time and Naina hadn't given a thought to it till now. She had a very busy day. Arriving in the fair grounds at 9:00 am sharp, when the traders were just preparing to settle down, she had started her work. As she moved from one stall to the next, she found most of the businessmen quite friendly and eager to talk. She was happy about the results. Apart from the technicalities of the work she also indulged in chit chatting with them. By 10:30 the other people also started pouring in. She talked to a few local businessmen and also to a few others who had come from different parts of the country. Overall, she was satisfied with her progress.

She had met Aditi and Prem once in the morning. They had been very happy to see her and had invited her to meet their boss i.e. the Chairman of their company. Naina had promised to drop in. As she glanced at her watch, she postponed the meeting to evening. She certainly was not in a mood to meet him now. She had seen the refreshment stall earlier in the day and now she made her way towards it. True, it didn't have lunch facility but at least she could get some water and then go out for lunch to some nearby hotel. All of a sudden she was pushed roughly and faltered on her steps. She knew she would fall down.

However, out of the blue an arm gripped her by the waist to steady her and led her out of the crowd. She turned to face her unknown helper and found herself facing ''

"Rajveer." She exclaimed.

Raj took out the goggles which had been covering his eyes till now. She noticed the twinkle in them. "So Naina, we meet again. How are you?"

"I'm fine, thank you. But what are you doing here?" she was curious.

"Pure business. My company sent me here to supervise the work in the fair and so I'm here. But what brings you here?" he wanted to know.

"Same as your case, pure business. I'm making a report on the Industrial fare." She retorted.

"So you are covering it? Then you must have been busy since morning."

"Yeah. I have been here since 9 O' clock."

"Oh!" It was all that he said aloud and then thought to himself. "So she was really here and the times I thought I spotted her, I was right. And I thought my mind was playing tricks with me. God help me, I haven't been able to stop thinking about her since last night."

"Hello, where are you?" Naina snapped her fingers in front of him. "Lost?" she asked.

"Huh! No, just remembered something. So where are you going now? Had your lunch?" He forcefully shut his mind and asked her.

"Not yet. In fact I was going to have some." Came the reply.

"Care to join me for the same?" the question was out even before he could think properly and Raj was mentally kicking himself for being so hasty. When she didn't reply, his heart sank.

Naina was too surprised to react when she heard him asking her for lunch. She had wanted it but hadn't pinned her hopes too high. Then she saw that he was waiting for her reply and without giving a thought to it said "Yes." And why not, he was a part of this fair. Knowing him would only help her in the report. He would get the desired publicity for his company and she could finish her project with ease. Perhaps that's why he had asked her. But strangely enough she was hoping against hope that it should not be the reason why he invited her for lunch. "Maybe he wants to spend some time with me." She thought and then rejected it immediately. "Stop kidding Naina and focus on your work." She ordered herself.

As these thoughts flashed across her mind, she didn't notice the soft smile lingering on Rajveer's face when she had said yes. If she would have seen it maybe her thoughts would have been different. Rajveer somehow could sense what she was thinking and mentally made a note to prove her wrong because he hadn't for one minute thought about their job when he had asked her to join him for lunch. He just wanted to spend some time with her and he was determined that she should know about it.

Raj and Naina were sitting in the hotel. "So what will you have for lunch?" Raj asked her.

"You place the orders. I don't have any problem."

"Still' Indian, Chinese, Italian, continental'' you must choose something."

"Ummm'.Chinese."

Raj placed the orders and then as turned towards Naina who was busy in her own thoughts. He called her a couple of times but she didn't respond. Not knowing what to do, he placed his hand on top of hers and gave a light squeeze. "Now what happened to you? Lost?" he asked when she came out of the trance at his touch.

"No 'I was just thinking something." Naina replied. Her hands were still clasped in his and she made no move to remove them. Perhaps she didn't realize it. But Raj was not that ignorant. Still he maintained his grip.

"Thinking about your project report? Don't worry; I'll help you with it. Now stop thinking about the fair for some time and try to enjoy whatever leisure you are getting because once we are back in the fair grounds I doubt if we will have time even to remember our own names."

"I know." Naina replied. "It's becoming hectic and demanding day by day."

AFTER LUNCH:

Naina and Rajveer were back in the fair grounds after lunch and Rajveer inviter her to his stall. "Why don't you come with me? We can start on your project report after some time."

"Sure." Naina agreed and followed him to his stall.

"Hi Naina ' How are you?" Aditi greeted her and was surprised to see Rajveer with her. Prem who had his back towards them turned and smiled at her in a friendly manner and greeted Rajveer.

Now it was Naina's turn to be surprised. "So you are the Chairperson of Singhania Group of industries." She questioned Rajveer.

Raj nodded in affirmative and said, "I see that you have met my juniors. May I ask how and when did '" Somebody called out for Rajveer and he left leaving the trio inside. The moment Rajveer was gone, Aditi pounced on Naina. "How do you know him? When did you meet him? How come he'"

"Will you keep quiet Aditi?" Prem intervened. "Let her come inside first. Do you realize she is still standing in the doorway? And why are you so curious anyway?"

"Ohh!!! I'm so sorry. Please come in" Aditi ushered her in. Once Naina sat on a chair, Aditi slipped back to her previous mode. "Now tell me." She demanded.

Naina laughed and stopped Prem from interfering for a second time. She knew it was very natural on Aditi's part to be curious about her boss' affairs. "First you tell me, you two were going to receive him at the airport. So why didn't you go?" she asked Aditi.

"Because he called us up in the evening and told us that he was driving down to the hotel and we didn't have to come to the airport." Aditi shrugged.

"Well, it turned out to be in my favour." Replied Naina and she gave them a brief account of the incident of the previous day. When she finished, she found Aditi and Prem thankful for her safety.

Just then Raj returned and apologized to Naina for being away for so long. While Naina said it didn't matter, Aditi stared at Raj open mouthed and it took Prem's poking to shut her mouth. However, Naina noticed that she still stared at Rajveer strangely for a few minutes as he talked and laughed with Naina and found herself wondering about the reason for Aditi's surprise. Making a mental note to ask Aditi about it later, she paid attention to what Raj was saying. The next one hour passed pleasantly as they talked about the various gadgets and were surprised to find their own tastes in accordance with the other.

Rajveer then showed her around and introduced her to a few businessmen. He then let her do her job and stepped back a little, all the while not letting her go out of his sight. Naina too was aware of Rajveer's presence but was comfortable with it. In just 24 hours of short acquaintance, she found this man highly dependable and didn't mind his presence around her. They left together at about a quarter to 8. Prem and Aditi watched them disappear in the crowd.

"Good Heaven!!!" Aditi exclaimed. "The most eligible bachelor in our group has finally decided to sacrifice his bachelorhood. A worthy choice, I must say." She said.

"And pray what do you mean by that?" Prem was intrigued. "What are you talking about?"

Aditi looked at him as if he had sprouted a pair of horns all of a sudden. "Are you blind? Can't you see?" she demanded.

"See??? See what?" Prem was at loss unable to make out a word of what she was saying. "And why were you staring at Rajveer sir when he was talking with Naina. You are really incorrigible." He finished in a huff.

"Prem, are you crazy? Can't you see that Rajveer Sir is spending a lot of time in the company of Naina? Are you so dumb that you cannot make anything out of it?"

"Make out what??? Aditi, for heavens sake, don't get any weird ideas into your head. Rajveer sir is just doing his job. You know very well that we have to establish contacts in our job." He sighed. He always found it truly odd how Aditi could see romances in the most unlikely of places.

"Weird ideas!!! Right. I'm getting all the weird ideas." Aditi taunted. "These weird ideas of mine will turn out to be the truth. Just you wait and watch." She challenged.

Prem simply shrugged his shoulders and dismissed the argument. It was no use arguing with Aditi. She always had the uncanny ability of spotting the romances even when it was not there. It came to him much later that Aditi usually turned out to be right. But this time he was confident that she won't be right, not where Rajveer sir was concerned.

"Men ' They are really incorrigible." She muttered to herself. They worked for some more time and then left for the hotel. Rajveer had told them that he would wait for them in the restaurant of the hotel. Sure enough, he was there with Naina and was smiling broadly over something which Naina was saying. After a few seconds he started to laugh.

Aditi glanced at Prem as if to prove her point but he just shrugged. "Rajveer Sir is just being friendly." He defended his senior.

"Friendly!!!" Aditi rolled her eyes. "He is being over friendly."

"Oh come on Aditi. They just seem to be enjoying each other's company."

"Seem to be!!! They surely are enjoying each others company. It is obvious. As if Rajveer sir had any other plan when he left for the hotel with Naina." Aditi shook her head.

"Stop it Aditi." Prem muttered. They took their places opposite to Rajveer and Naina. The latter were sitting together. Aditi smiled at Naina who responded brightly. She leaned forward a little. "I hope you were not bored in the company of Rajveer sir. He is very reticent." She whispered to Naina.

Naina smiled and nodded her head in negative. She whispered back, "I don't think so. He is very friendly, a very good companion."

"What are you two whispering about?" Raj was curious.

"Nothing." Naina leaned back in her seat. "Some girly talks." She laughed not wanting to give Aditi away.

"Really!!! But I'm not buying it." Raj announced

"But why?" Naina wanted to know.

"Because you are not the type to indulge in petty girly talks. Besides, I don't think whispering in a company is your normal behaviour."

Naina smiled and waved off the topic. But she was a bit confused. She could see Prem glaring at Aditi and the latter had hid her face behind the menu card. Little did Naina know that Aditi at that moment was attempting to stifle her laughter.
