Sur was really upset but she didn't share her pain with Raj and it was her greatest fault. Their engagement took place in a lovely manner and any girl would expect for it.
Her face showed all her pain very well whatever she suffered a long way and her unforgettable past made her week and that's why she is still unsure about her future.
But her memories of past are still haunting her and she is not happy with that. Raj noticed that because he knows Sur very well and he wanted to talk her but she didn't give her a chance instead she took such a big step.
I was really shocked to read that she cut her nerve and wanted to die. How can someone do this to her life till she knows very well that Raj loves her madly and whatever would be happen Raj will never forget himself for that.
Thank god Raj himself went to her when he though to talk her otherwise she would have been dead.
Same thing happens doctors saved her life and her jeejs stooped Nandini to scold her and that was a wise decision. But i had tears in my eyes when i read that part when Raj took his ring from the table and left.
Pls yaarrr this time try to update soon.

Part 15

Sur was slowly packing her stuff. This was the first time she did not want to get out of the hospital. Her hands were unusually still as she arranged her things. She had wanted to do this before Nandini showed up and did it for her. She was having a very hard time and Sur knew engaging herself was a good option, even though she was quite weak. The deep cut in her wrist still burned and hurt her. Nandini did not talk much to her about Raj. And she did not have guts to ask about him. She knew that she had humiliated her and Raj's parents. She had seen him once when he had come along with everyone. He did not talk much, just left in record time, making some lame excuse. She had also noticed that the ring was gone. And she somehows knew that she had not lost it.

She wrapped her shawl around her shoulders and looked at the watch. Soembody would be there to pick her up in half an hour, she thought as she moved towards the terrace to take a walk. She felt the wind cut through her hair and smiled. She did not realise that she was smiling after a very long time. She could see the sun, the bright orange ball rise from the smog and its golden rays touched her face. She had almost forgotten how beautiful the sunrise was. As a child, she had loved watching the golden ball glow brighter and brighter until she could no longer look at it. She raised her hand as if to reach out and touch it. And then suddenly, she saw him, more clearly than she had ever visualised him. He was there, just within her reach like the bright beautiful sun, illuminating her life. And she had never even bothered to spare a second, pause and think. Think as in real logical sense.

For the first time in her life there were no shadows of the past, the ghosts haunting her, voices questioning her ability and character. All that she could see was the people in her life were so beautiful. Her parents, Nandini, Vishal and Raj. It was so easy to be happy with them. They loved her and accepted her. She loved them a lot too. After all the mess she had gone through she was lucky to meet these people.

And why was she refusing to accept Raj when he was genuinely interested in being with her. She closed her eyes and decided for once to talk to him. To tell him everything herself and give both of them a chance. Perhaps he really was the guy she used to dream of when she was all young and innocent. She suddenly felt like the schoolgirl she used to be before he came along and damaged her.

She suddenly heard a loud bang behind her and turned around. It was Raj, holding the door, panting like he had run all the way up here. She kept staring at him for a few moments utterly confused. Why the hell did he run up here? He was staring at her with his face contorted in anguish. She took a few steps towards him but before she could say anything he screamed ate her.

"Tumhara dimag kharab ho gaya hai kya? Sur- tumhe mujhse shadi nai karni hai mat karo par ye sab karna band kardo for God's sake. Mai thak gaya hu."

And then it struck her. He thought she was here to try another hand at suicide. She begun to laugh suddenly and he stared at her.

"Don't worry mai suicide nahi kar rahi hu. Aur ab kabhi dobara aisi bewakufi nahi karungi. I promise. Ab zara yaha ao."

Raj straightened up, his eyes narrowing in suspicion. He had really never seen her smile or laugh like that. Was that what she wanted? Getting rid of him? He felt a pang of pain in his heart but he nevertheless let go of the door and walked to where she was standing. She was facing the the rising sun which was glowing very brightly now. She shrugged her shawl off her shoulders and said, "Isn't wathcing the sunrise just lovely Raj? Jab mai choti thi na, to roz subah uth ke sunrise dekha karti thi. Mujhe bahut acha lagta tha."

Raj looked at Sur in amazement. She seemed so different now. She caught him staring and said,

"You really want to push me off this building don't you? I understand. Let me just finish. Uske baad tum mujhe mujhe maar sakte ho I won't mind."

"Ye tum kya bol rahi ho..." he looked weared out and weathered. She wondered that at this rate he would start looking 50 in a week or two.

"Raj I have been an idiot all this time. Im sure you agree with that part?"

Raj looked away silently, not replying. She bit her lip and continued.

"We should have had this conversation a long time ago. But I wasn't ready. And honestly speaking I never thought beyond the fear I felt whenever I thought of you."

"Are you scared of me?" Raj asked his eyes widening.

"No. I am scared of loosing you. I am scared what will happen if I end up wrecking our marriage. And most of all, I am scared because I know that you love me. I know how it feels to have your heart broken so ruthlessly Raj. Trust me."

"Do you honestly think I will leave you?"

She bowed her head and said, "I wanted to tell you about my past myself. I missed you a lot in london and I was wondering if I should do it. Nandini did it before I could prepare myself and I panicked. Raj, I have gone through things you cannot imagine. I myself cannot believe that I came out of it alive."

Raj was leaning against the parparet now, keenly listening to everything.

"Usne mujhe kahi ka nahi choda... More than the physical torture, it was the feeling of being so...unloved. Its tough to convince yourself that you are right. Tumhe pata hai Raj, there are many scars on my body... Par aj bhi jo ghav mere dil par lage hai, unhe dekh k mai bahut dar jati hu. Vo mujhe marta tha, he used to rape me aur mene sab bardash ki kyuki mai darti thi. Mere paas sahara nahi tha. Aur fir ek din mujhe pata chala k mai pregnant hu. Mai bahut khush thi Raj, aisa laga ke ab ek maksad mil gaya tha jine ka. Par meri vo khushi bhi zada din nahi rahi. He came home drunk and... I had a miscarriage." She was crying now, her eyes shut tightly, her whole body shaking. Raj held her by her shoulders firmly and she placed her head on his shoulder. They stood there for a while after which she stepped back and he let her go. She wiped her tears and mumbled a small thanks.

"Anyways, that was what brought the real end. After that, it was divorce. I started living in better conditions. I took up studies, worked as I love to work. But you know what Raj, I always knew that the thing was somewhere inside me, waiting to come out. And it did Raj. I am sorry to embarass you and your family like this. Aur agar tumhe lagta hai k ye tumhari wajah se hua hai, to please, ye galatfahmi dil se nikal do. Ye to hona hi tha, abhi nahi to kuch mahino baad. Raj, no matter how hard I try or you try, my past will always be a part of me. I have to live with that. You have to decide if you can live with it or not. I just wish it had not happened like this. Tumhe jab bhi lage ke tum mujhe maaf kar sakte ho, mujhe meri engagement ring wapis kar dena. I will wait for it. Now lets go home sab wait kar rahe honge."

Sur walked back to the terrace door and turned around. Raj was still standing there, looking at her with an unfathomable expression. She kept waiting for him to join her and he slowly walked to her side and said

"I was never upset with you Sur. Mai kabhi tumse naraz ho hi nahi sakta."

He held out his hand and touched her face.

"I waited so long for you to say something... Anything." She saw a glittering tear drop fall down his face. She wiped it off with a long finger and said, "I am sorry. Please don't cry Raj...I can't bear that."

"Ek baat batao Sur...Sach sach...Do you love me?"

She raised her eyes to meet his and for the first time he saw a dim blush creeping up her neck and face. She looked away and said

"Isn't it obvious?"

"Answer me a straight yes or no. Just once."

She took a deep breath and said, "Yes. Happy? Now lets go."

She walked away to the staircase, leaving a disbelievingly happy Raj behind her. Raj kept standing there for one full minute before following her. Things were finally moving on the right track.
