"I don't understand why girls think that spending a whole 2 days doing "nothing" is RELAXING" complained Samrat as the girls including Shilpa stood in the lounge room with overnight bags in hand,

"It's relaxing because your not there." said Gunjan back at him, with a yeah-that's-right smile on her face,

"Whatever, does Mayank and dad know about this?" asked Samrat getting of the couch and walking towards Shilpa,

"where is Mayank by the way?" asked Nupur, everyone looked at her thinking that she knew where he had disappeared to, in fact she hadn't seen him since Christmas dinner the night before.

"We thought you would know?" replied Shilpa, Nupur shook her head in reply.

The phone rang as Nupur was about to open her mouth once again, Gunjan walked over to answer the phone and heard Mayank's voice.

"Mayank…where are you?..ohh…does Nupur know?," hearing her name, Nupur looked at Gunjan confused, "well we were going to the day spa…yeah I'll let her know…well then we'll see you later..bye.." she put down the receiver and turned around to the rest of the family who waited there.

"Stupid work" he thought, "normally I wouldn't mind, but Nupur and I just got together…we had plans, I had plans" he placed his mobile back in his pocket and turned the car back towards the house.

"Work called, and said they need him to overlook the new project that needs to be out by NYE. He needs to go back now." Gunjan bit her lip and looked at Nupur, whose smile had vanished from her face.

"He said, he's coming back to get his stuff and his bags under the bed if you could keep it ready Ma." Shilpa nodded, and placed her overnight bag back down near the stairs and went up to get Mayank's belongings ready.

"I think I'll wait for Mayank to come back, I'll go and drop him to the airport," said Nupur, "I'll have to call Dia and CJ too…you guys can leave without me" she said aiming at Gunjan.

"But, we can't go without you."

"Yes you can, start of without me in Dia's car and then I'll follow later today." Nupur said looking at Gunjan, the door opened and in came Dia and CJ all ready to leave.

As Nupur filled them in on the slight change they were hesitant yet they agreed and thought, instead of losing the reservation it was a better idea." Gunjan finally agreed and they too convinced Shilpa aunty, saying their good byes, they left and as their car pulled out of the drive way Mayank's car pulled in, he mouthed a sorry from the window and continued up to the house.

Nupur sat on the couch flicking through a magazine half irritated for mayank leaving suddenly, and half sad too. Mayank entered the house and dropped the keys in the bowl at the front door to see Nupur stand up. Shekhar and Samrat were in the kitchen making drinks and left the two with privacy.

Nupur ran up to him and hugged him, "You can't leave now, not so soon." she said.

"I don't want to leave, I have to leave, if I had a choice you know I'd spend it with you Nupur." she let go of the hug and faced him,

"We haven't even decided how this long-distance relationships going to work, there's so many things we need to talk about." he agreed and sat down with her on the couch. Silence filled the room apart from the mummers coming from Shekhar and Samrat, yet nothing was said between the two of them.

A spark hit Mayank's eyes and he looked at Nupur with a smile, "Come with me to Mumbai!"

"What?" she replied, taken back by his gesture, "What about work? My house?"

He looked into her eyes and pursed his lips together, "Yeah you're right…don't worry about it" he also looked a bit disheartened,

"Mayank it's not that I don't want to," she said coming closer to him, and cupping his face, "But it's too early, I don't want to ruin what we have, let's try out me staying in Delhi and Mumbai for a bit and then we'll see where it goes from there….I know for a fact, that one of our clients has a big project in Mumbai coming up and maybe I can be a part of the project"

She did put up a convincing argument, maybe it wasn't a good idea to ruin something that was becoming perfect. Maybe time apart did show them what they meant to each other and whether or not it was infatuation of just being around one another.

"Okay if you say so" he said agreeingly, she smiled and kissed him on the cheek,

"Now, your flights at 12:40….i think we should leave" he nodded, walking towards his mum and dad and saying bye to them, he had already said bye to Samrat and Gunjan and the other 2 girls on the phone because they left before he had arrived.

Nupur decided they would both go to the airport together and with her handy nav-man she would find her way back to the other ladies.

As they sat in the car, with Mayank in the passenger seat, she felt content. Now her dreams of him being there wouldn't be a figment of her subconscious mind, it would be reality. As she turned the corner, she caught him starring at her,

"What?" she asked, "Nothing, you look so cute when you're concentrating" he said as she rolled her eyes,

"Surprising, you never said that when we worked together"

"Yeah, well I never used to get kisses when we worked together" he replied back,

"it's 'cause you were known as Hitler's right hand man" she joked back at him,

"Am I one now?" he asked sheepishly, she shook her head and laughed,

"not at all…you're kind, funny; with a lame sens eof humour I love, you're dedicated, and most of all your forgiving" she said putting a big smile on her face.

He looked at her and intertwined her fingers with his, maybe this was the answer to her question all those months back, this is what love was. He won't agree he was completely in love with her, but he had an urge to be around her all the time, to know her, not like friends but more and maybe one day it will turn into the love he saw in Samrat and Gunjan's eyes for one another.

For now, this like/love/whatever you call it, was perfect for them both.
