Couple i have taken any longer? Yes, No, who knows actually. My exams finished today and now im officially on holidays until Feburary next year! This could mean more frequent updates, but i am going overseas next Friday but i'll try and fit in an extra long part before i leave. Please do check out what i have written right at the end of the part... enjoy.
Part 16:
"I owe so much to Samrat and Gunjan, they were my pillars of strength, they brought the smile back on my face" she said.
"what do you mean?" he asked,
She looked at him and bit her lip, this bit of information wasn't really needed was it?
"Nupur, what are you hiding now?" he asked curiously, she knew when he was lying and now he knew when she was hiding something.
"Around 2-3 months after I'd moved to Delhi, things weren't going the best, long hours at the office then coming home and finding cooking, cleaning the lot on top of being in a new city which I knew nothing about" she started,
"and I didn't want Mum or Dad to come and help, they had just gotten back from their trip and I wanted them to relax'" she continued, "anyways, things finally started getting back to normal..but amidst all of this, I'd been getting weird text messages from my best-friend Ellie, who lived in Melbourne" she licked her lips and closed her eyes,
"weird things, there were philosophical in a depressing way, I didn't know what to do..if I were to reply to her texts, I'd get another philosophical quote'" she sighed, "it went on like this for nearly 3 weeks, I finally tried to call her, and she sounded'heartbroken.. Torn, this wasn't the Ellie I knew"
"I spoke to her for a good hour or two, I told her to talk to someone..to get her life-back on track, thought it seems she hadn't told me everything. She had lost her job, her boy-friend had gone off the rails, with no job she was getting an eviction notice from her landlord, things weren't going right for her, though I found all this out a bit too-late" tears were forming around the rims of her pearl like eyes, Mayank moved closer as Nupur covered her mouth, "work got busy again, and even though she was in my mind I didn't have the time to call her'you know the saying, no news is good news? Never believe it again!" she shook her head and let a tear drop, "It's not true, when there's no news, assume the worst has happened, and it did happen with Ellie" she broke into tears, sniffling she looked at Mayank, who obviously wanted her to continue, yet didn't want to ask her to.
"I got a call from her mother'" she wiped her tears away, "telling me, Ellie had been involved in an accident" Mayank was shocked,
Ellie committed Suicide?
"No she didn't commit suicide" she answered his unspoken question," but we'll never know what caused her to drink and drive" he honestly, didn't know what to say, what could you say apart from I'm sorry?
"Her depressants didn't mix well with alcohol, and then she took the risk of driving" he wrapped one arm around her, as she snuggled in closer to him and rested her head on his shoulder, "to some extent I think it was my fault, I should have called someone up, I should have made sure she went and talked to someone" tears stained Mayank's t-shirt as Nupur wept.
"The funeral was in Melbourne, few weeks later and I couldn't be there, couldn't be there to say good-bye to my best-friend" she sat back up and looked at Mayank, taking a deep breath she gave a faint smile and laughed,
"imagine me like this for nearly one-month, I don't know what came over me, I missed Ellie; her laughter, and then the stress of work, the yearning of having family with me, Gunjan forced me to go see Dia" she swallowed and sighed, "and I guess' that's how I made friends with Dia, and what my 9 months in Delhi so far, has consisted of" she said, still in the same position as before, the distance between them was minimal.
Silence filled the air, Mayank didn't know what to say, or what to do. He just wanted to kiss Nupur's tears away, kiss her strawberry lips, to hold her in his arms, and he'll be content for this Christmas.
"Ellie, is your guiding star now Nupur, she led you to meet Dia, she'll lead you to many new and better things now" Nupur looked at Mayank and again gave a faint smile,
"Dia ne bhi yehi kiya.." Nupur said, she licked her lips and looked at Mayank who shifted closer to her only leaving a couple of inches space between the two. Nothing was said, nothing was heard apart from Nupur's heavy breathing, they looked at each other and Mayank knew this was time, he moved closer only inches away from her. She looked into his eyes; which showed nothing but love. Without any thought, she moved closer to touch his lips on hers, kissing him finally. Reciprocating her kiss, he moved in closer while her hands went around his neck and into his hair, his hand roamed her back as both finally acknowledged what they had been feeling in the last couple of months.
Pulling apart they looked at each other, Nupur bit her lip and thought:
Nupur, Nupur, Nupur, did you actually do that? Did he actually kiss you back? Don't talk to me, talk to him, go'talk!
"Mayank.." she started, he looked at her, kinda embarrassed,
"No Nupur, I'm sorry, I.." he started cutting her off, but she wouldn't let him continue,
"No, Mayank, I think we both know we have something' but'" she didn't know what to say, what if this assumption she had made was wrong?
"we're to afraid to admit it" he added, and she nodded,
"What does this mean though?" she asked looking at him,
"If you're happy with it, let's see where this can take us, you know better than me' when you see something you want, grab it, because before you know it, it will disappear" Mayank said,
She looked at him and felt unconditionally loved, he knew her deepest secrets, her aspirations, her dreams and he didn't judge her, what more could a girl ask from someone she liked, possibly even loved?
He knew she was thinking yes, a smile came upon his face as he ran his hand through his hair. This little act of his always seemed to happen at 2 times, when he was a) frustrated, or b) overly happy. B) was the answer today.
"Mayank, for once in my life, when things are getting on track, something bad happens' maybe jumping in too quickly isn't good" she said,
He sighed and looked at her, "Nupur, since when are we jumping in to this? It's not like we're getting married or even moving in together, we're seeing where these feelings we have will lead us, trust me this time' I'll be sure not to let you down, nor will I make you lose your trust in these feelings" he said grabbing her hands and intertwining his fingers with hers,
"please? This once, just for me?" he said in a faint whisper again only centimetres away from her face, she gulped knowing deep down she wanted this badly, the dreams from the last few months were coming alive, and like her motto of life had always been, never let good things slip out of your hands.
She nodded, she wanted this as much as he did, a smile came on her lips as she tightened the grip with Mayank's hands,

"Okay, the three most embarrassing things that has ever happened to you," Mayank asked, looking at Nupur, who raised her eyebrows,
"I don't think you want to know," she replied, "you'll never look at me the same way" he chucked at her reply,
"try me..go on"
She shook her head and laughed, "I warned you, and you better not laugh okay?" she said, he stopped chuckling and promised,
"well number one, when I was in high-school we had to do this city experience thing for a week, catching the train back and forth, so from home to the city and back again, we were running late for our train so me and my friend saw which platform we were on and then ran, while running down the escalators as the train stood at the bottom, we ran down the stairs and my friend had already got to the bottom and I as I was about to step of the escalator I slipped'" a smile came upon Mayank's face, "and slipped all the way from the bottom of the escalator to the middle of the platform'" her cheeks turned a bright red,
"..and half my year level was there, alongside the rest of the Melbourne crowd" Mayank couldn't help himself, he let out a laugh and Nupur slapped him playfully on the leg,
"you promised you wouldn't laugh" she said, hitting him again as he put his hands up in defense trying to control his laughter,
"I didn't think you were that clumsy'" he contained himself," go, which are your other 2?" she rolled her eyes and continued,
"second.. Er, I think it was when I was in year 7 or something, but every year the middle school and senior school had an awards night, in recognition of students who had gotten the highest mark in their subjects, my name got called up and as I went up on the stage, I tripped, and face-planted into the carpet'"
"Why do all these stories have you falling over and making a fool of yourself? Because it doesn't add to your case" Mayank said smartly,
"Yeah, well shut up and listen" she replied playfully throwing a pillow at him, "so I face planted, stood up and regained myself, but of course my cheeks had gone a dark shade of red, to make matters worst, once I got the award because I was shaking of embarrassment, I dropped it and it broke." now his eyes popped open,
"I don't think I've ever met anyone more accident prone then you, and you're the one who says I have no hand eye-coordination, I'm pretty sure you're the one who has the lack." he replied back giving her a teasing smile, as she squinted, causing cute little wrinkles on her forehead.
"One more, go for it." he said,
"Honestly, I can't think of any more.. How about you now?" she said crossing her legs and folding her hands in her lap, "I've had enough of making a fool of myself."
"Well, if we want to be a couple, we have to be able to talk about anything and everything, it's trust." Mayank said.
Nupur was about to continue before she heard the door unlocking, voices were heard and Mayank and Nupur looked at each other. Shilpa and Shekhar were home,
"Do we tell them now?" asked an unsure Nupur, and Mayank nodded,
"We said, no lies." she agreed, standing up she intertwined her fingers in his as Shilpa and Shekhar came through to the living room,
"Nupur!" spoke Shilpa, a smile came upon her face as she saw Nupur standing next to Mayank. A glow was evident on Nupur's face and it reflected in Mayank's eyes, "I'm so happy to see you." Nupur let go of Mayank's hand and walked over to Shilpa to give her a hug,
"Same here Aunty, It's great to be back with everyone." she looked at Mayank warmly, who smiled in return as his dad came over and stood beside him.

Now i have a little game, Nupur gave 2 embarrassing stories, guess which one ACTUALLY happened to me...
