Episode 2: Dill Jahaan Dosst Wahaan

The prof has just stepped out for few minutes to get her register when Riddhima enters the class with Rahul and Anjy following her... she is so pissed and is fuming by now.. both Rahul and Anjy give one another a glance and raise eyebrows... Riddhima just sits on the bench placed on the second row which is her favourite place and has been for last 1 year... she just slaps her books along with her bag in front of her...
Ri:" how dare he?....samajhta kya hai apne aap ko" ..she is wriggling her fingers around her scarf and seeing it more and more in such a dirty sweaty look is driving her totally mad..
Rahul sits next to her and holds on to her hand..." rehna do Riddhima.. just forget it..."Riddhima gives him a a look which could freeze hell..." mera matblab hai, tum apna mood kissi arre geyre ke liye kyo kharab kar rahi ho... i mean its not worth it..."
Anjali who is sitting on the table say," Ridzi, Rahul theek keh raha hai... itna overreact kyo kar rahi ho ... and its only a scarf... get it cleaned and it will be as new as ever.. she casually lifts her shoulders making her point...
Ri:" Di, aap yeh kaise keh sakti hai.. aap jaanti hai ki Dad ne mujhe yeh scarf aaj hi diya hai...its very important to me" she looks at Rahul and then to Anjy.. " you both know , mere liye yeh sab cheeze kitni ehmiyat rakhti hai....phir bhi "....trails off..
Rahul looks helpless and thinks of saying something to lift her mood and Anjy looks plain bored.. just then a heavy dusky voice speaks from behind...
Voice:" if u are that pissed why not inject that "someone".. with cynide injection...after all doctor banne ke kuch to faiyde honge.." says a smirky voice...
Both Rahul and Anjy look and stare at the face who said such cheeky retort... but Riddhima is so mad that she replies without giving the guy a glance...
Ri:" really..? agar tumhare paas itni knowledge hai toh i'm sure tum apne saath lekar ghumte hoge...khud ko inject karlo, kam se kam yeh bakwas to sunni nahi padegi..."
Voice:" my my .. some attitude...!! he just leans forward close to her ear and says" pata hai , on second thoughts usko nahi, ( quoting with his fingers) ..you need it.. it will help you loose this high and mighty attitude.."
Before Riddhima can reply back .. Anjy who has been witnessing this crazy war speaks up...
An:" hey guys , just stop it... what are you two doing??
The guy who was having fun just slumps back and relaxes and eyes the girl who spoke...Rahul just give the guy a cold stare and tries to pacify Riddhima...just then the professor enters the class and starts to speak and the whole conversation drops ...the assignments are collected and they are assigned new cases to work up for the next day for discussion ... they are to examine their patients in pairs ... but before the professor can assign the pairs, the bell goes off ... immediately Riddhima gets up to leave when Anjy says
An:" Ridzy, ab toh mood theek karlo... and shaam ka prog is still on.. " Riddhima is no mood to party and about to shake her head when Rahul speaks..
Ra:" prog is on Anjy, dont worry iska mood main theek kar donga... i'l see you later.." he looks at Riddhima.." chale ... prof. shah ke saath kal ka patient discuss karna hai..."
All this while the guy at the back bench is observing the little chit chat going on....Anjy is about to introduce herself to him and asks Ridzy and Rahul to wait up..
Ri:"Di hum late ho rahe hai.. and i'm really not interested in getting to know weird strangers.. waise bhi , (looking at her ruined scarf, which is half in her bag and half hanging out) aaj ke liye do butameez ladke kafi hai... "
The back bench guy gets a slight peek at the scarf she is fiddling with and a frown comes on his face ... he gets a peculiar feeling that he has seen the particular cloth some where,and is trying to recollect but the moment he hears her last remark ...he loses his chain of thought..
Back bench guy:" speaking to the attractive girl " you know i'm really not interested too... i have much better things to do than listen to a cranky girl grumble non-stop ...
Riddhima is about to turn and blast the guy when Rahul just hold her by her arm and pulls her out of the class...
Anjy just looks at the guy and shakes her head and the guy just gives her a very innocent look which says" what did i do"
Pathology lab..
Ri:" uski himmat kaise hui.. why does he have to talk when not spoken to….. i hate him...!"
Ra:" chodo na Riddhima.. aaj tumhare birthday hai.. kyo apna mood in stupid logo ke liye kharab kar rahi ho.. Its your day.. " he holds her shoulders and makes her look up to him...he pulls out a small candy giving it to her… she smiles… then he says…
Rah: now keep that smile and promise you will not think about all this and will be happy....i want a smile.. remember smile… " she just looks down and gives him a fake , will this do smile...he knows what she is doing and says again.." Riddhima.. mujhe woh special khulke smile chahiye"
Riddhima cant stay angry very long when Rahul is around... she smiles which lights up her face.. he hugs her and says "that's my girl .."
Ri:" tum yeh kaise kar lete ho Rahul.. tumhare saath jab bhi hoti hoon, meri har problem ekdum stupid lagti hai..." thank you..."you are a true friend"
Ra" bas bas bohot maska baazi hogayi.. now treat me to my coffee you promised... "
Rid: aur professor Shah?
Ra: wo toh aaj leave pe hai…
Rid: toh fir…. Woh experiment…patient
Ra: main toh bas tumhaara mood theek karna chahta tha…. job done !...
She smiles as he hugs her sideways…. And they proceed to have a cup of coffee from their coffee machine where its Riddhima's turn to shell out her five rupee coin to treat him with coffee….
Same time in the lecture hall..
Anjy and Armaan are getting along famously...they seem to hit it off instantly..
An:" no way….. the shivaliks… what you saying... seriously !! You have actually been there.. oh how would i love to go... "
Armaan:" you seriously have to go woman.. and when they do these mid night treks… that's some adventure… I almost fell off a cliff the last time, but I am here, so you know what happened to me? Or should I say what didn't happen to me…
Anjy is very amused by the way the guy talks and she is totally impressed as well… " chooo cuutee" is running all over her mind all this while….
Arm: so …. its a deal…. you be my trek partner.. i promise you , you would wanna go there again and again....
An:" cool ! so tum transfer student ho.. not bad huh !.. you will like it here..but if you dont mind my asking, why did you leave delhi..."?
St:"well I packed my parents off to US so that I could come here… my friends say, your never disappointed when your in Bombay… I already know what they mean… ( he eyes her as she blushes, enjoying the attention)
An:"good !.. hey.. by the way aaj Riddhima ka, birthday hai…..( he gives her a blank stare) Riddhima…. the girl you were ferociously having an argumant with......
St:" Oh woh…..
An:"yeah... so i was wondering if you wanna come.. its just a small party i'm having...."
St:"thanks but no thanks….she;'s rather whiny and weird… id rather do my laundry than hang around with her"….
Anjy: excuse me! She's my sister…..
Ar: big deal! Doesn't change the fact that she is whiny and weird…. What's the deal with her anyway?
An:" well thats a long story.. baad mein batati hoon.. abhi coffee ke liye chalte hai...raste mein baat karte hai.. …
Canteen
They both leave for the canteen ....on reaching there they spot Ridzy and Rahul sipping there coffee and going over some notes...Armaan hesitates as the early argument with Riddhima is surely very fresh in her mind and today being her birthday , he wonders if he should wish he… he thinks for a second and wonders…he really had screwed it up…. but he didnt really know or care either , so logically he is not to be blamed.. and thats the understanding he gives himself when he walks in and sees them…
An:" hey guys.. both Rahul and Riddhima look back.. " guys this is Armaan .. a new transfer student" ... he shakes Rahul's hand saying "hi " and then shifts his focus to a very angry Riddhima...his familiar voice triggers the bitter classroom memory ..
Ri:" tum!!!!!
Armaan looks at Riddhima and offers his hand and wishes her " happy birthday" in a very matter a fact way…
Ri:" she looks at his out stretched hand without looking at him and ignoring his gestures says a very cold" thank you"
Both Armaan and Riddhima ignore each other , where Anjy keeps looking at Armaan.. and Rahul looks at all 3 and takes a heaves a deep sigh.. " great , what a start !" muttering under his breadth……..
Armaan gets a phone call " yes ma…….. yes ma……. No ma…… please ma….. as he speaks his face turns all weird and funny and then suddenly worried… ma… listen to me…. He says… he gets up from there leaving the table not bothering about the chair he has pushed behind by a couple of meters in a hurry….
Anjy looks at the guy dreamily as he walks away and says it out aloud this time…. " he's so hot!!!!
Riddhima and Rahul exchange glances….
Anjy : (Still dreamy) I think I will wear that white low cut dress tonight…. he will like that …….( she blushes)
Rid: who will like what ???
Anjy: oh! I've invited him to the party tonight…. obviously you'll don't mind right???
There is silence.
