@robin.. thanks a bunch for a comment as wonderful as always! ... you asked about mech-III and i realized i should have gone into the detail... basically, mech as a branch of engineering is the most boy dominated, a majority of colleges at least in india see mech as an all boys branch, at max, almost that... then being an IIT further has, as per stats always been fairly low on the girls:boys ratio... it is hence this joke cum accepted retort kinda thing in girls from other schools, specifically the big delhi univ colleges LSR being one of them, that boys from IIT and that mech are the desperate to impress and be with girls kind of lot... mostly a teaser, but as a female engineer i can tell you, not all is smoke without a flame :D also, just in case you wondered, the word 'mess' refers to dorm cafeteria for meals... hostel for dorm and mess for cafe are the indian parallels of those american terms ...
