Part 20
"Hello?"
"Abhi?" Nikki said. "Tum kahan ho?"
"Sanjeevani ponch raha hoon?" Abhi replied. "Kyun? Kya hua?"
"Bas mein aa rahi hoon!"
"Magar… magar Lonavala?" he asked, confused. But Nikki already ended the call.
Isse kya hua? Abhi wondered as he pulled into the parking lot. Zaroor usse duffer Armaan ne kuch kiya hai!
* * *
"Armaan bas!!"
Armaan looked at Ridhima, who was once again fuming at him.
"Par…"
"No," she said, cutting him off. "Tum meri baat suno. Dr. Abhimanyu Modi, sirf ek insaan hai. Mujhe nahi pata why you have such a hard time understand this concept, but he is HUMAN!! He is not any different from you or Rahul or Atul-"
"Don't you DARE compare me to him!!"
"Armaan!"
"Ridhima!"
Ridhima glared, while Armaan winked back.
"Waise," he said, walking forward and placing his hands around her waist. "Meri basket gusse mein bhi bahut achi lagthi hai!"
"I am serious Armaan,"
"Maine kab mana kiya hai," Armaan said, playing with her hair. He hoped and tried to distract Ridhima, who for the first – and probably the last – time was not distracted. She was tired of fighting with him for the same reason; Abhi and Nikki.
Not being prejudiced like Armaan, she was able to judge Abhi and Nikki's relationship without bias. She found nothing wrong in Abhi and felt he was, in someway, what Nikki wants and deserves.
"Stop it Armaan," she said, pushing his hand away.
"Maine kya kiya?" he said, pulling her closer.
"Listen to me," she replied, holding his face in her hands. "I don't know what is between Dr. Modi and Nikki, magar joh bhi hai, tum usse accept karna hai. Armaan, zindagi mein har cheez hamari marzi se nahi hoti hai. Jahan tak mujhe pata hai, woh dono ek dusre ko pasand karthe hai aur tum Nikki ke best friend hote nate, uss ka saath dena chahiye. Tum samaj re ho na, main kya keh rahi hoon?"
Armaan looked into the eyes he loved so much and tried to see sense in what they were saying. He, however, something other than concern – he saw fear.
"Kya baath hai basket?" he asked.
She hesitated, but decided to answer anyway. "Armaan… its just… its just that, I hate being away from you. Aur main dekh rahi hoon ki Dr. Modi aur Nikki ki baath hamesha hum dono ko door kar deti hai. Kabhi kabhi daar lagtha hai… ki hamari alag opinions hume saath nahi rehne degi!"
"Ridhima aisi koi baat nahin hai," he said, gently. "Hum dono hamesha saath rehenge."
"You really think so Armaan?" Ridhima asked. "If we can't even compromise on small things before marriage, how are we going to manage after?"
"Who said we can't compromise," he answered.
"No one needs to say anything," she countered. "I can see what is happening."
Armaan sighed. "Tum kya chathi ho Ridhima?"
"I am seriously doubting if our relationship is going to work out Armaan," she said, looking at the floor. It was hard enough saying this without looking into his eyes!
Armaan cupped Ridhima's face into his hands. "And how can I prove it to you that I will stick with you come what may?"
"Even I will be with you through everything," she said, still looking at the floor. "But is that possible? Can we two get along without fighting?"
"Of course we can! I can prove it to you right now!"
"Teek hai," Ridhima said, looking up at him. "Can you stop hating Dr. Modi?"
Armaan didn't answer, but she understood his silence all the same.
"Fine," she said, knowing that she was pushing it too far. "Can you atleast stop seeing Dr. Modi in a bad light? Kya agle kuch din ke liye, tum ek open mind se Dr. Modi se baath karoge?"
He looked in to her eyes and saw that she really meant what she asked for. Well, he could give her that much. Can't he? Afterall, she stepped down for him and he would have to do the same…
"Teek hai Ridhima," Armaan said. "Magar, usse Modi mein mujhe EK bhi burai dekhi.."
"Toh phir main maan loongi ki woh Nikki ke liye saahi nahi hai," she finished. She was more than happy that Armaan atleast agreed to stop criticizing Dr. Modi.
* * *
Abhi paced in his cabin, waiting anxiously. Just as he turned to sit down in his chair, Nikki walked into the room and ran straight into his arms.
"Nikki," Abhi said, startled. "Kya hua? Lonavala mein kuch hua kya? Tum achanak yahan kyun chali ayi? Are you okay? Are you sick? Apna check up karvaya? Rukh ho, main Dr. Keerti ko bulatha hoon."
He paused to catch his breath and for the first time noticed that Nikki didn't reply to any of his questions. He wrapped his arms around her still figure.
"Kya hua?" he asked in a gentle voice, stroking her hair.
Nikki, who had buried her head in his chest, hugged him closer and said in a muffled voice "hum yahan se chale jaate hain Abhi."
"Kyun?" he said. "Tumhe Mumbai bahut pasand hai na?"
"Not anymore," she said, turning her head so that her voice was more clear. "Yahan saab kuch badal gaya hai. Aab, yahan mera kuch nahin hai. Hum wapas Delhi chalte hai."
"Acha teek hai," Abhi said soothingly. "Hum Delhi wapas chalte hai, magar pehle yeh to batao, kya hua hai?"
At this, Nikki kept quiet.
"Armaan kaha hai?" Abhi asked, hoping it would change her mood. But to his surprise, that name triggered a very different reaction.
"Naam mat lo uska!"
Abhi was surprised. "Par kyun?"
And Nikki proceeded to explain what happened in Lonavala.
"Bas?" Abhi said. "Itni si baat ke liye tum chali ayi?"
Nikki looked up. "Itni si baat? He was downright insulting you Abhi!"
"Toh kya hua?" he countered. "He was insulting ME!"
"For god's sake, you are my HUSBAND!" Nikki said, fuming. "How dare he insult YOU?"
"But he doesn't know that Nikki," he replied, calmly. He knew Nikki was's anger was just momentary. "He doesn't know you are married to me!"
"So what?" she said. "You are his senior and the head of this hospital. He can't talk the way he likes about you!"
"Nikki," Abhi said. "Armaan ne kuch nahi kaha. You are just overeating!"
"Iss baar hi nahi Abhi," she answered. "Jab bhi mukha milta hai, Armaan tumhe insult karta hai. And it hurts to listen to his comments. You are a part of me and I want my best friend to accept it!"
"But he doesn't know Nikki," he said, very gently. "Once he does, he will understand."
"Magar aab kyun nahi?" she asked. "Its not like you are bad. Everyone in this hospital respects you. Phir Armaan ko kya problem hai?"
"Be logical Nikki," Abhi said. "To Armaan, I am the person who took the position of his to be father in law. Obviously this change has put Ridhima through a lot and naturally, he is affected by it as well."
"But its not like you meant it on purpose," she said. "Its your JOB!!"
"People don't know that sweetheart."
Nikki had no answer. She knew Abhi had a point, but she didn't want to give up either.
"Tum usko kyun support kar rahe ho?"
"I just don't want you to unnnecessarliy become mad at such an important person in your life!"
But deep inside, Abhi was furious at Armaan for behaving like that. Of course, Abhi didn't care about what Armaan thought of him. But what irritated him was the effect it had on Nikki. Clearly, she was disturbed – torn between her husband and best friend. No matter how much Abhi disliked Armaan, he trusted him never to hurt Nikki, which is why he gave him permission to go to Lonavala without asking for a reason. But after today, he is obviously not to be trusted.
"And you know how rude he was with me?" Nikki said. "The whole time I was there, he was spying on me. Everytime checking who I was on the phone with. What is his problem? Don't I have a life? Do I bug him so much when he talks to Ridhima?"
"Its only because he doesn't know," Abhi repeated. "Now cool down. You are going to set this office on fire."
"Very funny Abhi," Nikki replied.
"Not that you didn't do that already with your looks!"
Nikki rolled her eyes and turned around to leave. She expected some support from her hubby, but obviously he didn't share her views. Abhi, however, caught her arm and pulled her towards him.
"Nikki," he said, hugging her. "Don't be mad. Its not that I like Armaan. Its just that you are not able to think properly, so I am providing that service."
"Well I don't want that service."
"I understand what you are going through," Abhi said. "I seriously do. But at the same time you have to understand what Armaan and even Rahul for that matter are going through as well. I am sure once you explain to them what is the truth, they will stop hurting you."
"You think so?" Nikki said, looking hopefully into his eyes.
"Yes," he replied, with a smile. "They are your friends afterall."
"Pata nahi Abhi," she said, laying her head on his chest. "I really don't think they can ever understand. Its like they permenantely hate you!"
"As if I care," Abhi muttered.
"But I do," Nikki said, hearing his retort.
"You know what," he said. "Try talking to them about this. And by graduation if you think they are not going to understand, then we'll just go back to Dehli. Okay?"
Nikki nodded. Just then her pager rang. "I have to go see Dr. Keerti," she said, standing up. "I don't even know what I should tell her."
"Tell her what?"
"Tell her the reason why I left the camp half way through!"
"Tell her I called you back," Abhi said. "because I picked you to work with me on the new Sanjeevani project."
Nikki smiled, feeling much better. She walked to the door in a better mood, but just before closing the door behind her, she said "I love you Abhi."
Abhi smiled as he heard her quiet voice. "I love you too," he said, to the door. "I promise we'll leave since no one here understands. But before that, Dr. Mallik has some explaining to do!"
* * *
"Aur pata hai Anjali," Atul said. "Rosy aaj kitni sundar lag rahi hai. Panch gulab te uske paas. Main tumhare liye ek laa raha hai, magar woh rone laagi. Issi liye aaj tumhare liye ek flower nahi laa paya!"
Anjali smiled. They were walking towards the general ward for their duty and as usual Atul was making sweet comments about her. "Thank your Atul. Magar mujhe har din flowers nahi chahiye."
"Magar mujhe kuch to dena padega na," he replied.
"Agar kuch dena hai," she said, slowly. "Toh har din aise hi rehna."
"Matlab?"
"You know what," Anjali continued, oblivious to Atul's confusion. "Tum bahut ache ho. Kabhi lagtha hai ki yeh saab ek mazak ho ga. Tum jaisa ladka mujhe kaise pasand karta hai? Aur Atul…"
She stopped, noticing for the first time that Atul wasn't beside her. She turned around and found him standing still at the end of hallway.
"Kya hua?" she said. "Wahan kyun khade ho?"
"Kuch nahi," Atul said, seriously for the first time in his life. "Tum bhi bahut achi ho Anjali."
"Kya main ek sawal poochun?"
"Of course Anjali. Tum mujhe kuch bhi pooch sakthi ho!"
"Mujhe kyun itna pasand karte ho tum?"
Both of them now stood infront of the General Ward. Atul was caught off guard by her question.
"I mean," Anjali clarified. "Main Ridhima ki tarah ek achi doctor nahi ho, Muskaan ki tarah ek achi ladki nahi aur Nikki ki tarah sundar bhi nahi. Hamesha kissi na kissi ko hurt karthi rehthi ho. Tumhe bhi bahut dukh poonchaya. Phir… kyun?"
"Kaun kehtha hai tum buri ho Anjali," Atul said. "Mere liye tum saab se best ho aur bahut sundar. Aur rahi baat meri, hum sirf unhe hurt karthe hai, jisse hum apna samjathe hai."
Anjali stood awe-struck in front of him. How is he such a sweet guy? And how did I miss noticing him in these past two years? She thought.
"Anjali? Anjali?" Atul said, waving his hands infront of her. "Kya hua? Tum teek toh ho na? Pani chahiye?"
Anjali cleared her throat. "Haan… haan, main teek ho. Chalo, duty pe chalte hai."
"ANJIE," Armaan called as he rushed into the hospital with a flustered Ridhima.
"Hey Armaan," Anjali called. "How come you guys are back so soon?"
"Tumne Nikki ko dekha?" he asked.
"Haan," Atul answered. "She was at the nursing station, talking to Dr. Keerti."
Armaan nodded and left.
"Kya hua Ridzi," Anjali asked, watching Armaan's retreating back.
"Kuch nahi di," she replied. "Nikki achank wapas aa gayi hai aur Armaan is really worried about her."
"Woh bata kar nahi aayi?"
"Nahi," Ridhima said slowly. "Uska aur Armaan ka jagada ho gaya tha…"
* * *
"Thank god tum yahan ho Nikki," Armaan said walking to her petite figure. She, however, ignored him and continued to read a file.
"Stupid!" he scolded. "You know how worried I was? How can you just leave like that?"
"Main baachi nahi hoon," she said in a cold voice.
"Mere liye hamesha rahogi!"
By this time, Ridhima, Anjali and Atul arrived there along with Rahul and Muskaan for their afternoon briefing.
"Hey Nikki," Rahul said, oblivious to the tension between his two best friends. "How come you guys are back so early?"
"Mujhe kaam tha," She said in the same cold voice. Rahul was taken back. He looked at Armaan, who signaled him to be quiet.
"Dekho Nikki," Armaan said in a gentle voice. "I am really sorry for what happened. I didn't realize what I was doing. I was being…"
"an idiot," Nikki said. "Pata hai. There's nothing new in that!"
Everyone stifled a laugh. Armaan shot them a glare.
"I am really sorry though," he said. "Please mujhe maaf kardo?"
Nikki just continued reading.
"Please Nikki?" he said.
No answer.
Seeing there was not other away, Armaan went on his knees holding his ears. Nikki could never refuse him. "Won't my best friend forgive me?" he said.
Nikki looked down to see a very sorry Armaan. But she didn't forgive him.
"Maaf kardo na Nikki," Rahul said. "Please? Mere liye?"
Nikki heaved a sigh and just nodded. There was no point fighting when she was going to leave after graduation. Her days with her two best friends were numbered. Armaan wooped in joy and stood up to hug her, when Dr. Keerti walked in.
"Dr. Armaan," she said in a stern voice. "This is a hospital! If I ever catch you shouting again, you will find yourself doing rectal exams."
Armaan uttered a quick apology and stood beside Nikki in their usual line formation for briefing .
"Kya main jaan sakthi ho aap aur Dr. Ridhima yahan kya kar rahe hain?" she asked.
"Ma'am," Armaan said. "Woh actually hume kuch personal kaam tha-"
"Dr. Armaan," Keerti said, cutting him off. "Maine aapse pehle bhi kaha ek doctor ka kaam sirf logon ka ilaaj karna. Agar aapko apna personal aur work life balance karna nahi aata, toh Sanjeevani ka darwaaz wahan hai. Aur yeh aap saab yaad rakhna!"
Everyone nodded.
"Good," Keerti said. "And because both you and Dr. Ridhima failed to follow your duties, aap dono ek hafte ke liye double shift karenge. Understood?"
Armaan's mouth fell open as he heard his punishment. "But… but…I," he spluttered. And after a few seconds, when he noticed that Nikki was not included, he said "Magar Nikki bhi wapas aa gayi hai. How come she doesn't have to do anything?"
"Dr. Armaan," Keerti said. "It shouldn't concern you with what your peers do. But for your kind information, Dr. Nikita iss liye wapas aayi hai kyunki woh ek naayi project kar rahi hai. Maine khud usse wapas bhulaya hai. Teek hai?"
Armaan narrowed his eyes as he saw Nikki smile from the corner of his eyes. She owed Abhi so much!
"Now go back to your duties everyone," Keerti said, dismissing them. Everyone left, except for Armaan and Ridhima.
"How is that possible?" Armaan said, outraged. "uski wajahe se hume double shift kar rahe hai, aur usse koi kuch nahi kehta?"
Ridhima smiled. "Koi baath nahi Armaann," she consoled. "Hum bekar mein chita kar rahe the!"
"I guess so," he replied. "Magar there is atleast one good thing in this whole mess."
"Kya?" she asked.
"I get to be with you… for ONE whole week…"
Ridhima blushed as she realized that she would be spending the whole night with him, when a wardboy walked in.
"Yeh aap ke liye," he said, giving a letter to Armaan.
"Kya hua?" Ridhima asked anxiously, as Armaan opened the letter and paled as he read what it said. "What does it say?"
When he didn't reply, she took the letter from his still hands. It was suspension orders.
* * *
"Hey Nikki," Ridhima greeted in the Path Lab.
"Hi Ridhima," Nikki replied.
"Thank god ki tum teek ho," Ridhima said. "I was so worried. Aur yeh saab Armaan ki gaalthi hai. He never stops and thinks about what he is doing."
Nikki smiled. "I am used to it by now."
"I know," Ridhima said. "But uski taraf se main maafi maang thi hoon. He doesn't understand what a girl goes through when she likes-" Ridhima stopped, not knowing if she should continue.
Nikki continued to work, pretending not to have heard. But infact, she was scared. How much did Ridhima know? She had a sudden urge to tell her the truth. Unlike Armaan, she was confident Ridhima would understand. But that would be betraying her two best friends. Come what may, Nikki thought to herself. Armaan and Rahul will be the first ones to know.
"Waise," Nikki said, diverting the topic. "Are you still mad at him or did he convince you?"
Ridhima laughed. "Yeh toh roz ka natak hai. Main gussa ho jati hoon aur phir maaf bhi kar deti hoon!"
"He does love you… a lot."
Ridhima blushed. "Haan… magar aisa hi chalta rahega, toh papa kabhi nahi maanenge!"
"Don't worry," Nikki said. "If you guys really love each other, phir kuch nahi hoga!"
"True," Ridhima answered. "But it's a long way before we get married!"
"Kyun?"
"Pehli di has to get married and then we can think about ours."
Nikki nodded. "Waise bhi Armaan ko koi jaaldi nahi hai…"
"That's cause he is scared," Ridhima said. "He thinks shaadi will ruin both of our lives and at the same time he doesn't understand that I can't be his girlfriend for the rest of his life!"
"That's Armaan," Nikki said with a laugh. "But he will come around."
"Hopefully!"
"Waise," Nikki said, looking around. "Woh kahan hai? I thought you two had duty together for the rest of the week?"
At this Ridhima's face fell as she remembered what happened.
"Kya hua?" Nikki asked, watching her smile disappear.
"Kuch nahi," Ridhima answered. "Armaan… Armaan ko… suspension orders mila hai!"
"WHAT???"
"Haan," Ridhima continued. "Magar usne toh kuch gaalth nahi kiya hai. So, I think it was mistake. The letter didn't have a name on it, but the wardboy gave it to him."
"where is he right now?"
"He went to see Dr. Modi," Ridhima said, in a worried tone. "But I am confident it's a mistake. Dr. Modi will never punish him for something he didn't do. Hain na Nikki? I mean I know they both don't get along, but Dr. Modi has always played fair and… Nikki?"
Nikki was standing still, as she pieced together everything. Of course Armaan would get suspension orders, Nikki thought as she quickly set down the test tubes and removed her gloves. He hurt me! Oh no, she thought, hurrying out of the lab as Ridhima continued to look on in confusion. Why didn't I see that coming? Abhi had never compromised with anything regarding me. How could I think that he would let Armaan go, especially when I was so mad today? Main bhi na, kitni bhuddu hoon. Jaake, saab kuch Abhi ko baata diya!! Aab kya karoon?
* * *
"What the hell is this?" Armaan said, barging into Abhi's office.
Abhi didn't respond and merely said, "Its minimum manners to knock before you come in. But, since when did you understand manners."
Armaan growled as Abhi stood up, and folded his arms across his chest.
"Tumhari problem kya hai?" Armaan asked.
"Mere paas faalto cheezon ke liye waqt nahi hai."
"Good," Armaan said in a cold voice. "Mere paas bhi faalto logon ke liye waqt nahi hai."
"Perfect," Abhi replied. "Darwaaz wahan hai. This discussion is over."
Crap! "Pehle," Armaan said. "Tell me why I am being suspended from Sanjeevani."
"I don't think I owe you a reason Dr. Mallik."
"I think you do," Armaan alleged. "You have no right to kick me out without telling me the reason."
"Be thankful I am not kicking you out forever," Abhi said. "I am suspsending you for a week."
"Phir bhi. I want to know the reason."
"Okay fine," Abhi said. "Agar itna hi shauk aapne apko jaane ki, then I have no problem. First and foremost, tumhe manners nahi hai. Logon, espically aapki colleagues se kaise baat karthe, aap nahi jaante."
"And how do you know this?" Armaan asked. "You obviously didn't get any complaints."
"I don't need some pathetic complaints to be able to tell the difference between a good doctor and bad one."
"Oh," Armaan said sarcastically. "This is on your observation power now. Jo insaan hamesha iss cabin ho, usse kya pata "peers" ke saath kaise baath karthe."
"Jaise bhi baath karthe hain," Abhi said. "Tumhari taarah toh bilkul nahi."
"Acha," Armaan said. "So I am being suspended just because I don't talk properly to my friends? As far as I know Modi, main apne doston ke saath jaise bhi baath kartha hoon, woh meri personal life. And since it has nothing to do with my professional life, you can't comment on it."
"its Dr. Modi for you," Abhi clarified. "Apne seniors ko respect dena sikhlo. Aur rahi baath tumhari personal aur professional life ki, toh yeh achi tarah samaj lena ki joh insaan apne doston ko respect nahi kartha, woh apna kaam ko bhi respect nahi kartha."
At this point, Nikki arrived infront of Abhi's cabin and tried anxiously to get his attention from the glass door.
"When did I not give respect to my friends?"
"When did you give respect Dr. Mallik?" Abhi asked. "I am not going tolerate people like you working in my hospital."
"This is not your hospital," Armaan interefered.
"For now it is," Abhi reminded. "I put up with everything thing you did, just because I know how hard it is for all you to face the prospects of having to leave this hospital forever. That however, does not give you the right to behave as you wish with people."
"You keep saying friends and people," Armaan said. "Don't these people have a name?"
"Yes they do," Abhi said. "But that again is none of your business. Jaise main keh raha tha-" He stopped, noticing Nikki standing outside with a worried look. Taking advantage of the split second they had, Nikki shook her head and mouthed a big "NO"!
"Yea?" Armaan said, not understanding the sudden pause.
"I think Dr. Malhotra has something to say," Abhi said quietly, beckoning her in with a wave of his hand.
Nikki walked in nervously, having no idea how to explain to Abhi that Armaan was forgiven.
"Umm… woh Dr. Modi," Nikki said formally. "Mujhe aap se naayi Sanjeevani project ke baare mein baath karna hai."
"Have a seat," Abhi said. "Waise bhi Dr. Mallik was going to leave."
"Dr. Modi," Armaan said, trying to keep anger out of his voice. "I still didn't get a reason."
"As I have told you," Abhi said. "The reason is your manners. I hope that this one week you are gone, you will understand the value of your friends."
"And even I told you, my personal life has nothing to do with this," Armaan snapped back.
"Gentlemen," Nikki intervened. "Kya main jaan sakthi hoon what is happeneing?"
"Dr. Mallik is having a hard time accepting the fact that he is suspended," Abhi said, coolly.
Armaan closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He tried to remember Ridhima and his promise to her that very morning. I will keep my word Basket, he said to himself.
"Okay Dr. Modi," Armaan said slowly. "I guess I am sorry for my conduct. I am ready to accept my suspension orders."
"No!" Nikki exclaimed. "No, I am sure there is a misunderstanding. Hain na Dr. Modi?" she said, glaring at Abhi. "I am sure you are just mistaken about Armaan. I mean none of the doctors have any complains against him and he is a responsible guy… right?"
Abhi looked into Nikki's eyes and understood that Armaan was forgiven for his behaviour. Though he still wanted to punish Armaan, he had no other choice but to nod and say, "Yes, I think there is a misunderstanding somewhere."
He pretended to look into a file. "Haan," he said, slowly. "These orders are for someone else. I… I think, the wardboy delievered them to the wrong person. I am… I am sorry for that Dr. Mallik! I should have checked who was being suspended rather than just assume it was you…"
"Dekha," Nikki said, thanking her stars. "Anyway, I should leave now. Main aap se baad mein baath karthi hoon." And just before she closed the door, she threw a flying kiss to Abhi, who couldn't help but smile.
An awkward silence filled the room as both the guys stood still, not knowing what to say.
"You know," Armaan said quietly, trying to make a conversation and keep his word to Ridhima. "I don't think you are a bad person afterall."
Abhi raised his eyebrows.
"I mean," Armaan continued. "you are cool too! Other than the fact that you run this hospital… " he added as an afterthought.
"I have no idea what you are saying Dr. Mallik," Abhi said, sitting down.
"Please," Armaan said, walking forward and holding out his hand. "Call me Armaan."
Abhi was stumped. The last person he expected to befriend in Sanjeevani, voluntarily asked for a handshake? It had to be the eighth wonder of the world - Two arch enemies, turning into friends.
"Abhimanyu," Abhi introduced himself, as if this was their first meeting and nothing in the past three months took place. "And I don't think you are a bad doctor. It was just my prejudice. Nothing else."
"This is so weird," Armaan commented. "And you know what is weird-er?"
"What?"
"This very morning I had a big fight with my best friend," Armaan said. "I was pretty rude with her. And you gave me suspension orders for not repecting my peers. It was as if I was getting punished for that fight. That's so strange, isn't it?"
Abhi nodded and let out a nervous laugh. "It was just a concidence."
"A very strange one too!"
"Yea…" Abhi agreed.
Great, Abhi thought to himself as the door closed and Armaan left to resume his duties. It was hard enough hiding the fact that we were married when only Nikki was his friend. Now that even I am 'promoted' to their group… its going to be so much harder keeping our secret!
