Walking through the halls, Armaan had a silly smile on his face. It was a feeling of having accomplished something that no one else had. He had managed to get Ridhima to trust him, and had managed to form a stronger friendship with her. Whistling as he made his way through the halls, he couldn't wipe the smug expression off his face.
Coming into the General Ward to check up on his patients he saw Ridhima checking one of her patients. He passed her a grin and winked at her. His smile widened when he saw Ridhima roll her eyes at his flirtatious behavior, however a small smile was still resting on her lips.
Coming to one of his patients, he started checking their blood pressure; however his eyes would often wander to where Ridhima was standing with her back facing him.
While the patient had his thermometer in his mouth, Armaan took that time to analyze Ridhima. She had about waist-length hair'it seemed like the layers in her hair had grown out.
It was dead straight, and held back by a clip. It often slid past her shoulders when she bent down, but other than that it often stayed behind her shoulders. Her blue and green suit seemed to look exceptionally good on her today, highlighting her curves and her figure.
Armaan didn't even know that he had been staring for long, it was only when the patient started making annoyed sighs did he realize that he had lost himself in his thoughts once more.
Apologizing, Armaan slipped the thermometer out and checked the temperature. Noting it in the chart, he filled out the new medicines and the new dosages for each.
Slipping the chart into its slot, he looked down when he got a page.
FIREPLACE NOW!
Frowning at who might have sent the message, Armaan shrugged and ignored it. He went on with his work when a few minutes later he got another page.
AB Mallik'come to the fireplace next to the canteen NOW! ~N
Armaan chuckled. He should have known it was her'she hadn't even been here for more than 7 hours and she was sending out pagers to meet up with people. Shaking his head at her behavior, he quickly finished up his last patient and hurried towards the fireplace which Nikki had specified.
Peeking through the glass doors, he saw her sitting on the steps, her back facing him, her head in her hands.
He opened the door and sneaked in without making a single noise. Walking behind her, he bent down'positioned his hands behind her, and prepared himself.
He quickly put his hands on her shoulders while he said "BOO" close to her ear. Knowing her, she would have jumped up screaming, but when she did nothing except flinch slightly at the surprise, he sat next to her concerned.
"Nikki?" He asked, looking at her. She refused to look at him, instead she kept shuffling with her phone. Raising an eyebrow, Armaan wanted to ask her what had happened, but he knew that Nikki was just finding the right words to start off.
"Mumma ka phone aya tha" Nikki finally said, looking straight ahead. Armaan's eyebrows rose questioningly.
"Shaadi ke liye" She said finally. Armaan's mouth dropped open, and he had to stop himself from laughing out loud'Nikki would definitely kill him if he laughed right now.
"Sh-shaadi?" Armaan finally managed to stutter. Nikki nodded and finally looked at him, tears brimming in her eyes.
Armaan's eyes softened and he pulled her in a hug, soothing her. She started sniffling into his chest as she told him what her mum told her.
"She said, that rishtey aa rahein hain unke paas, and they really like a guy'his name is Deepak" He felt Nikki make a face as she said his name.
Armaan just kept running his hand up and down Nikki's back, soothing her, while she talked about the guy.
"Deepak'I mean seriously, I hate that name Armaan, I hate it!...there are sooo many better names than that-"
"Like Abhi?" Armaan cut her off and laughed when Nikki slapped him on the arm.
"Shut up, I told you he is just a friend!!...seriously!" Nikki said when Armaan continued laughing.
Nikki pouted and broke away from the hug, and crossed her arms in front of her chest.
Armaan chuckled and attempted putting his arms around her again, but she pushed him away.
"accha baba, I am sorry, I promise ki aaj se mein Abhi ke bare mein kuch nahin kahoonga'..I'll also overlook the fact that I did not say anything about him being more than your friend and that you kept on insisting that he is just your friend'." Armaan trailed off, a smirk on his face as he looked at Nikki turning red.
"Shut up Armaan'.seriously'I shouldn't have even called you here, instead of providing me with your support and promising that you will break Deepak's teeth if he comes near me'you are making fun of me? Go To Hell!" Nikki narrowed her eyes while her nose turned slightly up, and she crossed her arms.
Armaan took one look at her and could not stop bursting into laughter. Nikkis face was priceless, her mouth had dropped open, and she had her hands on her hips.
"Ohh toh ab janaab ko hasee aa rahi hain'YOU!!!" Nikki exclaimed while she tackled him. Climbing on his back, she put her arms around his neck and tried tackling him. However Armaan just laughed harder at her vain attempts to harm him, and he was holding his stomach as stitches had started forming.
Getting his arm around he tried pushing her away, but Nikki latched on, kicking him and punching him with all her might, but Armaan would not budge.
Finally she found his weak spot, and tickled him there. Armaan doubled over in laughter, and soon was on his back with Nikki straddling him and punching his chest and arms.
"God Armaan'I hate you so much!!...stop laughing!!" Nikki exclaimed. Armaan tried protecting his face while Nikki punched him, and continued to laugh.
Nikki finally gave up, and slumped slightly. Getting off him, she sat on the stairs once more.
Armaan was still on his back, laughing slightly'he had missed her'missed her fights, missed her jokes'missed all their times together. A rush of
protectiveness and affection came over him as he went and sat next to her.
Slinging an arm around her shoulder, he brought her to him and hugged her sideways.
"I missed all that" Armaan said as a small smile was still resting on his face.
He had a few tears in his eyes, but it wasn't from laughing so hard'it was from getting his best friend back and reliving all the times together'it was getting overwhelming for him.
He blinked his eyes to get rid of the tears, and this action did not go unnoticed by Nikki. She wrapped her arms around his waist and gave him a tight hug.
"I am sorry for disappearing on you like that" Nikki said softly. Armaan nodded, not trusting himself to speak.
Nikki looked up and gave him a huge smile. Breaking the hug she turned her body so she was facing him.
"We have to come up with a plan, yaar" Nikki said as her frown lines came back and she looked at him worried.
Armaan nodded and looked at her thoughtfully'
"Yeah'do you have to go an meet him?...or is he coming here?" Armaan asked.
"He and his brother are coming here'um I think his brother's name is Raj'he is coming here to find someone as well" Nikki added rolling her eyes slightly.
Armaan gave a deep sigh and gave her a helpless look.
"We'll ask the gang later'we should go and do some work before Hitler comes and kills both of us'let's go" Armaan said as he pulled her with him.
Nikki groaned at the mention of work but followed him nonetheless.
Both of them bid each other goodbye and went off for their respective duties.
Armaan turned around the corner and bumped into Ridhima.
"oof!" Ridhima said as she lost her balance slightly and reached out to hold onto something.
Armaan's hand shot out to stop her fro falling'his original plan was to hold onto her arm steady her'but when her arms went up, it was too late for him to grab onto them, so he immediately slipped them around her waist and bent his knees slightly to stop himself from falling with her.
His hand tightened around her waist as he looked at her'.her lips had parted slightly and her eyes were searching his face. For him everything seemed to stop as he looked at her.
The wardboys, the nurses, the patients, the family members'everyone seemed to be rooted to their spot, and the only thing alive to Armaan then was Ridhima, who had her arms around his neck to balance herself. He felt her hands slowly dropping from his neck to his shoulders, and his breathing quickened as his hand around her waist subconsciously tightened. A sudden loud crash from nearby brought them out of their moment and they quickly looked sideways to see that one of the wardboys had dropped some medicines.
The quickly straightened when they realized where they were, and didn't look at each other. Armaan chanced a look at her and saw her adjusting her dupatta, her head bent slightly while she avoided his eye.
His heart skipped a beat and he was overcome with the feeling of wrapping his arms around her and holding her close. His eyes widened slightly at that thought, and he tried taking a deep breath to calm his heart and his feelings.
Running his hand through his hair, he took another look at Ridhima and saw her eyes following his hand which was running through his hair. He smiled slightly and his eyes automatically dropped to her lips, which were still slightly parted.
Quickly averting his eyes he cleared his throat and looked around the hallway.
"Well..um'I guess I will see you later basket" Armaan finally said and walked away from there, giving her a brief smile.
Just as he turned the corner he put his head against the wall and took a few deep breaths to calm down his heart rate, and to get rid of the 'butterflies' that had suddenly formed in his stomach.
What he didn't know was that all this had been seen by a very watchful eye from afar
soo...here is the part!...please comment guys, you have no idea how much they mean to me...even if it as small as "good" or even constructive criticism is accepted!
And, one thing, I am concentrating a bit on Armaan Nikki, because I felt that DMG did not do justice to their close friendship..I just want to make it clear how close these two are...and how this affects everything around them. Don't worry, Nikki is not going to be a negative character...she is like his sister.
PS: I have nothing against the name Deepak...It's just that I couldn't think of another name!😳
