Part 5
"No Sere, he didn't mention you," Rushvi rolls her eyes as she cuts out some more pictures of Rob. "Yes—I think he would if you would actually come visit me once. How's he going to have a chance to get to know you if you don't even come see him at work?" Rushvi pauses as Serena argues some more. "Promise?" Rushvi hears some footsteps by her door, "Hey, I think someone's coming I'll call you back!" Rushvi quickly slides her phone shut. "That girl is seriously paranoid about Jai, I can't believe she likes him," Rushvi shakes her head as she proceeds to more snipping in the magazines.
"Knock-knock, can we come in?" Her sister, Roshni asked outside.
"Sure," Rushvi calls out, as both her sisters, Roshni and Reena stepped inside her room.
"Oh my god, are you seriously putting up more pictures of that Rob guy?" Reena groans.
"His names Robert Pattinson, Reena." Rushvi rolls her eyes. "At least get the name right," she mumbles under her breath.
"Whatever," Reena rolls her eyes and sits down on Rushvi's bed, flipping through the magazines.
"Don't you think you'll run out of room soon?" Roshni asks, eyeing her entire wall filled with Rob pictures.
"Ugh, if you guys aren't going to be nice, then go away!" Rushvi groans and sits down on the floor.
"Girls, are you bugging Rushvi again?" Her mom happens to walk by and stops inside.
"Mom, look at them both," Rushvi complains.
"If your father and I didn't say anything during your Shah Rukh Khan phase, there was a reason; it's so you don't keep bugging Rushvi. She's just going through her celebrity crush phase right now." Their mom reasons with them.
Reena and Roshni both give a quick dirty look to Rushvi as they get up and leave her room.
"Thanks mum!" Rushvi gets up and hugs her mom.
Her mum smiles at her and leaves her room.
"Thank god they left!" Rushvi shakes her head. "They're always on my case, it's not like they've never fell in love with a star," Rushvi slowly looks up at her entire wall. "Crap! I've got to call Serena!"
She quickly takes out her phone and calls Serena. "Okay sorry about before. Mum and the sisters came in and they were bugging me about Rob, till mom told them not to!"
"Awesome, anyways—I've been thinking," Serena says.
"About?"
"Jai, Rushvi! What else?" Serena says in a practical tone.
"Blame me for thinking she'd be thinking of something else!" Rushvi tries to stifle her laughter as she talks again. "What were you thinking though?"
"I'm thinking that tomorrow I might come visit you at work," Serena says in a quieter tone.
"YAY!" Rushvi grins. "That's awesome. I'm sure Jai will take notice!"
"He better!" Serena laughs. "But seriously, I don't even know why I like him,"
"Sere, as we've discussed before, no one ever knows why you like someone, it's something that just happens," Rushvi gazes at her wall, trying to make sense of what she just said and if it applies to her situation with Rob Pattinson.
"Rusharthi! Are you there?" Serena says, finally bringing Rushvi out of her dream land. "Did you?"
"Did I what?" Rushvi asks.
"Hear anything about that Twilight contest?" Serena asks.
"Oh, yeah." Rushvi says.
"You don't sound very excited," Serena notices. "Didn't you win?"
"I don't know yet," Rushvi admits. "They're announcing the winners in another two weeks."
"Oh—well then you have nothing to worry about!" Serena reassures her.
"You sound confident," Rushvi comments.
"I am,"
"Any reason why?"
"Because firstly it's you, and second of all you had to write an essay on why you deserve to meet Rob, you've got to win!" Serena laughs.
"Thanks Sere," Rushvi giggles alongside of her.
"You're welcome. Now go, get some sleep. You've got work tomorrow morning," Serena says.
"You're right. See you tomorrow! Good night!" Rushvi slides her phone shut and switches off the lights. She crawls into bed, and takes one more look at a picture of Rob on the wall, before collapsing on the pillow. "I wonder if he could be lying somewhere in bed, thinking the same thing as me. Is there such a thing as destiny? And if there is, why isn't there a way to find it?" With that thought she twists to the other side and falls asleep.
She wakes up the next morning, fresh from Robert dreams, and happily gets ready for work, knowing that today was the day maybe Jai would finally realize what a great girl Serena was. She made her way to work and saw Serena already there.
"Hey, you're really early." She comments.
"I'm nervous. This is a stupid idea!" Serena says quickly.
"Sere, Sere, Serena!" Rushvi puts her hands on Serena's shoulders and stops her. "It's not a stupid idea. It's a great idea! Just chill!"
"Whew...you must be right," Serena says calmly.
"Always am," Rushvi grins as she walks inside the story with Serena.
Everything goes just as planned when Serena runs into Jai. He acknowledges her from the first time they met at Rushvi's birthday and they both sit and chat for a while, while Rushvi fades away to watch them from a distance. After a little while she notices both of them laughing openly with each other and every time Serena was saying something, she saw Jai staring intently at her. "Good, I'm happy they're getting to know each other," Rushvi grins as she picks up a magazine from the checkout desk and starts flipping through it. She stops at a gossip page full of information about Rob's bar hopping in Los Angeles.
"These people are crazy!" Rushvi grumbles under her breath. "They don't even know the real him. It's just his misfortune to always be photographed outside of a bar," Rushvi shuts the magazine and pushes it away. "The poor guy only goes out to dinners with his friends, and never comes out wasted like other celebs. They always have to make up stuff when they can't find anything bad about a person"
She sighs and looks back at Jai and Serena, who were getting to know each other. "When will I find that kind of a relationship?"
Two weeks later, Maya and Harshad found themselves completely accustomed to their routine, and were always together, be it at breaks or during shootings. Harshad had finally opened up to Maya about his life, and she was surprised to learn about his girlfriend, Sanjana, who was the main cause of his new problems. Maya on the other hand had finally seen the other more sensitive and still mischievous side of him.
"Okay so explain again what it is about Sanjana that you don't like?" Maya says putting her elbows on her knees as she leans over, during one of his breaks.
"Well—she's just, I don't know. I feel more distant around her now." Harshad admits.
"Any specific reason?" Maya asks.
"I hate to say it, but it could be because of my extensive working hours," Harshad says sadly.
"Do you want me to cut down your hours? It would mean less screen time though," Maya adds.
Harshad snaps up and looks at her. "No, I would hate that. Spending time in front of the camera....is just this feeling you'd know if you experienced it."
"Okay then," Maya laughs and goes back to her clipboard where she was writing more notes for the story.
"Have you ever met someone who you think likes you for your fame?" Harshad says after a few minutes.
"What?" Maya looks up and asks.
"She always wants to go to these parties, and I mean she's changed a lot as a person. She never wants to be only with me, there has to be like 15 other people around." Harshad says, looking down at his feet.
"Harshad," Maya puts her hand on his shoulder.
"She's become totally materialistic and superficial. She wasn't like that before," Harshad sighs.
"Things change," Maya tells him.
"Sanju never was the type though Maya," Harshad looks up at her. "I feel that the fame should have changed me, but instead it changed my girlfriend."
"Harshad I really don't know what to say," Maya says slowly.
"You don't have to say anything," Harshad replies in a whisper.
Maya sighs. "I still don't like to see one of my friends sad,"
"Thanks." Harshad smiles at her, while she smiles back.
Right then they hear the click clack of heels coming closer to them and so they turn and Maya sees a girl her height standing in front of them in a short white skirt with a blue tank top, staring down at them.
"Praku? Let's go na!" She says, putting her hands on her hips.
"Sanjana" Harshad stands and walks closer to her. "I've asked you not to call me that in front of people remember?" Harshad turns to Maya. "Sorry Maya but I've got to go."
"No problems," Maya smiles slowly and walks away. "WOW! She's Harshad's girlfriend? She's soo gorgeous, but Praku? What kind of a nickname is that?" Maya takes out her cell phone and starts walking to the small office Nivi had given her.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"Praku? Praku?" Harshad shakes his head.
"What? It's a cute name," Sanjana smiles. "Oh hey wait a second; I've got to freshen up."
Harshad nods towards his vanity room. "I'll be here waiting for you,"
"Thank-you," Sanjana gets on her tippy toes and pecks his cheek while he smiles. "I won't be long."
Harshad shakes his head as he realized what an impression Maya must've got of Sanjana, he decides to quickly SMS her, but before that, he gets a message from her.
"So Praku?😉"
Harshad groans reading that. "It's my middle name, so she turned it into my nickname,"
"😆😆😆 I do feel a bit sorry for you,"
"Thanks,😛 And sorry for rushing off, and not giving you a ride home."
"Don't worry about either of the things, see you tomorrow!"
"What's going on?" Sanjana exits the room with her right hand on her hip.
"I'm just smsing a friend," Harshad replies.
"I'm sure," Sanjana rolls her eyes as they both walk away towards the car park, hand in hand.
Later that night
"Crap! It's Arushi's birthday and I haven't called her yet!" Maya bites her lip as she makes her way into her apartment. "It was weird coming home on my own after so long," She quickly looks around for her cell phone and then digs it out of her back and dials her other best friend's number.
"Hello?" Arushi answers.
"Hey it's me! Happy Birthday!"
"Humph," Arushi replies.
"What's wrong?" Maya asks confused.
"You should have called earlier," Arushi says in a matter of fact tone. "I mean you've been there for what three weeks, and you called me a total of 2 times!"
"You could've called you know!" Maya retorts. "Anyways I don't want to argue on your birthday!" She laughs. "What're the plans?"
"Well, I've got a huge ass exam tomorrow, so I'm going to spend the entire day and night studying." Arushi sighs.
"Wow—that's just like really sad," Maya laughs as she goes into her kitchen.
"Meh—it's not really a big deal."
"Yes it is!" Maya argues. "It's your 20th birthday!"
"Maya," Arushi starts.
"Okay never mind. We'll just celebrate your birthday when you come here!" Maya says excitedly.
"About that—"
"Oh no you don't! You can not cancel on me! I will freak out." Maya warns.
"Will you let me talk?" Arushi laughs. "I was about to ask—about the weather genius! What should I bring?"
"Oh," Maya realizes. "Oh! Heehee, I'm going crazy, anyways you should bring normal summer clothes,"
"I already knew about the crazy part," Arushi laughs.
"Thanks,"
"You're very welcome, as always!"
"When are you coming anyways?" Maya asks, going through the pantry.
"On the 12th next month," Arushi tells her.
"Okay," Maya smiles as she finds a spare packet of Maggi Noodles. "Anyways, I need to eat. Can we talk later?"
"Sure I need to get ready for classes anyways," Arushi says. "Oh and by the way, lately you've been saying 'anyways' a lot,"
"So?"
"Just think you should cut back, it gets kinda annoying! Anyways! Bye!" Arushi laughs as she hangs up.
Maya just slides her phone shut and stares at it. "You just wait till you get here!" she smiles thinking about how much she misses all her friends.
That's it for this part, and yes it got kinda too long! 😛 Please do let me know if you like it or not! 😃
Love you all,
Meera and Rushvi😳
