Chapter 3: The letter

She blushed as she imagined him choosing one of these. As she touched the set, her eyes fell on the message beside it. She took it a began reading it.

Rajkumari Ridhima,

I know I should start saying Hello and How are you, but I won't do this because I know how you must be. Maa spoke to me the other day about you, about me and about us.
I don't know what made me send you a gift when my brothers were bullying me about it, yet, I wanted to send the set and this letter.
Sometimes, I feel there's someone there who cares about me, who knows me. I don't know why it took me so much time to realize it was you. This feeling is new to me, but still I promise to be with you, forever.

She turned, smiling and blushing at the same time, towards the window. She was getting goosebumps in her stomach, but she couldn't stop feeling shy about it. She read the letter again and again until she knew it by heart. Before she could react, two pairs of daasis entered to announce the arrival of her sisters.
Quickly, she took the second thaali and kept it in her cupboard with the letter safely beside it.
Anjali: Ridhima, Let me see what Maharani Juhi sent you.
Muskaan: Yes, please.
Ridhima: Here.

She handed them the thaali and saw their surprised faces.
Anjali: I knew yours would be the best, Maharani Juhi loves you the most.
Ridhima: Then you keep it.
Muskaan: No, no, if it slips that we took it, Maharani Juhi will shout us and Maa's shoting I'm still not counting.
Ridhima: But Didi, Ma has sent you your favourite colour.
Anjali: Yes, but from when have you started calling Maharani Juhi Maa?
Ridhima: She told me to, I couldn't disobey her.
Muskaan: Let's go Anjali, We know that Maharani Juhi likes Rajkumari Ridhima the most.
Anjali: Ya.

With that, the Princesses departed from the Quarter of Ridhima, leaving Ridhima a bit angry which vanished when she remembered Armaan's gift.

Amargadh: Rajkumar Armaan's Quarters.
Armaan paced back and forth, slightly nervous for the letter he had sent. She must have understood that she has to reply but what if... He hit his head and proceeded to the person who will be able to tell him the solution to his internal problem.

Amargadh: Maharaj Ranveer's Chamber.
Ranveer was tired after the whole day, managing a kingdom was not easy, but he waited for the day when his 3 sons would take their responsibility. Just then, 2 guards announced the arrival of Rajkumar Armaan.
Ranveer: What happened Armaan? At this hour?
Armaan: Hmm...Dad..I had sent a letter...to Rajkumari...Rid...Ridhima.
Ranveer: What did you write?
Armaan: About....us.
Ranveer: Us? You and me? Armaan!
Armaan: No! About Me..and..She.
Ranveer: Ooh! Finally, 1 son is better than the others. You other brothers are so embarassed that they can't even send a letter to ther would-be-wife. You did it? I'm proud of you.
Armaan: But what if she doesn't reply?
Ranveer: Then write back or... let me help you...My 3 sons will go to Ajavgadh.
Armaan: Really?
Ranveer: You want to meet her no?
Armaan: Yes, but what if she doesn't like me.
Ranveer: You really think that can happen, Juhi told me that she starts blushing whenever Juhi talks about you.
Armaan: Blushing..Really?
Ranveer: Yes, My son. Now go and prepare, I'm sending a message now that you 3 will be proceeding to Ajavgadh tommorow morning.
Armaan: Thank you very much Dad.
Ranveer: You're welcome, and there's no Us Ok?
Armaan: Ya!

Amargadh: Maharani Juhi's Chamber.
Juhi came to know about her sons going to Ajavgadh and there was barely any time left. They were going tommorow. But first, she needed to talk to Armaan.
The guards entered announcing the arrival of her son.
Armaan: You called?
Juhi: What's the matter?
Armaan: Nothing.
Juhi: Are you sure? Who went to Maharaj to seek advice?
Armaan: How come you know?
Juhi: I've got spies everywhere. Now tell me.
Armaan: Nothing, I went and spoke about Rajkumari Ridhima, that I've written a letter and I was worried if she would reply or not, but Dad is making us 3 go there.
Juhi: You happy?
Armaan: I don't know Maa, confused.
Juhi: She also will be when you go there.
Armaan: Tell me about her Maa.
Juhi: Armaan. She's beautiful and very intellegent. In all, she's perfect for you and madly in love with you.
Armaan: How can you be so sure?
Juhi: Armaan, I'm a woman. I saw how she behaved when I said her name.
Armaan: But Maa, What should I talk to her about?
Juhi: Do what your heart tells you to do Armaan, The period between the Acceptance of Proposal till the Marriage should be unforgetable because you make it so. Go Armaan, Make her yours.
Armaan: Thanks Maa!

He couldn't believe his luck, destiny was on his side and tommorow he'll leave to see Ridhima, excitement was untolerable and he just wanted to shout. He was going tommorow
