Part 23

The propasal

Sleep was something both Veer and Ananya were finding difficult to find as both were anxious about each other. Veer kept imagining Ananya everywhere and similar was with Ananya. At first she was surprised to find him near her bed but when he disappeared she laughed at her own craziness.

Veer kept tossing and turning in his bed but couldn't get any rest

Ananya also couldn't sleep so she sat in her bed hugging the pillow close to her and just wandering of into her dream land

He looked near the window and he saw her reflection so quickly went to catch it but she disappeared soon and he laughed.

She imagined Veer had come near her and she rested her head on his chest

Apne dilbar ke, apne mehboob ke

Aakho ne dekha, aakho me dhoob ke

She stared into his eyes

He took her hand in his and slightly kissed them

She hugged him tight but then he disappeared. She felt a bit distraught and searched around for him.

On the other hand Veer went and sat by the window waiting for the sun to rise

She also went to the window and looked out at the starry night

He missed her a lot and couldn't wait

She also sat there and soon saw dawn approaching.

Both of them stared at the rising sun knowing that the rising was the sign of a new beginning.

Morning

The sun had risen and the whole of Sumaina had woken up. Everyone in the mahal was awake too and was getting ready as usual.

An over excited Nivriti was running around in the mahal, going towards Ananya's room.

Ananya's room

Nivi: Ananya! Ananya! Jaldi karo, jaldi karo wo aarahe hai wo aarahe hai

Ananya: (perplexed) koun aarahe hai? Aap kya kehrahee hai?

Nivriti: are Rajkumar Veer aarahe hai. Abhi abhi hame khabar milee hai, (looks at her in shock) are tum to abhi taiyaar bhi nahi huwi, jaldi karo (turns to leave in haste) Sunanda! Are Sunanda!

She hurries out of the room calling Sunanda desperately. Ananya was left with a racing heart as she didn't know what to expect. He was coming but why? Her heart was telling her something and her brain was telling her something else.

Meanwhile Nivriti was making a rukus in the mahal calling all the daasis.

Nivi: Sunanda! Sunanda! Are kaha hai Sunanda (she walks into Sia's room and finds her there) are Sunanda tum yaha ho, jaldi chalo jaldi chalo hamare saath

Sunanda: per maharani me wo…

Nivi: is waqt tumhe Ananya kee madad ke liye jaana hai jaldi chalo or Sia ko rehne do ose baad me karlena. Chalo jaldi…

She drags Sunanda out and is running around in the mahal with all the other daasis also following her orders.

Sawri: (to a daasi) tum ne hamara gale ka haar dekha hai, wo khogaya hai

Daasi: ji rajkumari maine wo…

Nivi: abhi oska haar rehne do, tum jao jaldi jao jaldi or Ananya ko madad karo (Ananya comes running out to calm her mother down) Ananya tum aise kyu aagayee bahaar. Jaldi jao jaldi jao wo aachuke honge wo aachuke honge

Ananya: maa ham or Sia tayaar hoke pohoch jaaenge per yeh Sawri or Avantika to tayaar hochuke hai to inhe behej de onke paas

Nivi: (frustrated) aag lagao Sawri ko, oska in sabse kya lena dena hai. Tum jao or jaldi tayaar hojao. Chalo (she drags Ananya with her to her room whilst the others just keep running around.)

Veer had left Devghar early morning as now he had ran out of patience. He was nearing Sunaina and his heart was also racing now. His destination was near and finally it would be completed. Fianally the day had arrived when his life was going to be completed.

Sunaina's hall

He soon arrived and was graciously recived by Nivriti and now all of them sat in the hall. All but the maharaj, who had some business to attend to. Veer kept staring at everyone wondering how he would speak to Ananya amongst them all and Nivriti also kept staring wondering how to solve this position. There was this awkwardness amongst them all and none of them knew what to do and how to break the silence. Then Nivriti thought of something.

Nivi: to Maharaj Dharam nahi aaye aapke saath?

Veer: (surprised by her question) ha…ji wo…onhe koi zaroori kaam tha isliye wo nahi aasakhe

She just nodded and then they were back again in the awkward silence. Nivriti kept staring at her daughters and then she winked at them signaling them something. Sia understood but she ignored her and looked elsewhere. Avantika could care less and Sawri also didn't understand. Nivriti shook her head with annoyance and then she winked again towards them making it a bit obvious but only that they can see.

Sawri: kya huwa maa? (innocently) aap baar baar hame aankh kyu maar rahee hai? Kya aap hamse kuch karne ko kehrahee hai?

Nivi: (outraged) kya? Ham aankh maar rahe hai? Kya behuda fuzool kee baate karahee ho tum, ham bhala kyu apni beti ko aankh maarenge (thinks about what to do next) wese ab jab tumne hame poocha hee hai to ek kaam hame yaad aaya jiske liye hame tumhaaree zaroorat hai. (she stands up) chalo Sawri hamare saath, or tum bhi Avantika…chalo chalo…(she gestures them both to stand up and come with her right now)

They follow her and Veer politely bids them goodbye and then he sits down again. Now there is only him, Ananya and Sia in the hall. The awkward silence is still present as still there is one more person left between them and Veer didn't want to be rude to Sia and tell her to leave.

After five ten minutes of still sitting idol, a daasi came inside and told Sia that she was being called by Nivriti for something important. She knew what she was up to and didn't want to leave Ananya alone but she had no choice so she smiled at Veer and left the hall. Now finally there was only him and Ananya, but this was harder than before.

Ananya's heart was racing as she had no idea what Veer was going to do or what to expect from him. She stood up and went towards the window and stood there trying to calm her senses.

Soon she felt this warm presence near her and it created butterflies in her stomach and she didn't know how to react.

Veer: aaj aap kaafi khoobsurat lagrahee hai, bilkul in khile huwe ghulaabo kee tarha (she doesn't say anything and gives a shy smile) aap jaanti hai kal raat me beith kar aapki isee khoobsurti pe kavita bana raha tha lekin mujhe kuch sujha hee nahi. Bohat koshish kee per na kamyaab raha. Aap jaanti hai kyu? Kyu ke aapkee yeh khoobsurati lajawaab hai jise lafz me yah kisee kaagaz ke tukre pe darj nahi kiya jaasakta. (he went forward to touch her hand. At first he was hesitant but then he did put his hand over hers.)

She gasped as she felt his warm palm touch her cold hand and it felt as if a thousand volts had gone through her. It was the first time he had actually touched her like this and she didn't know how she would be able to stay calm after this. She didn't have the courage to look at him as she felt too embarrassed.

Veer: aap soch rahee hongi ke me yaha kyu aaya hu? Sach batao to me bhi puri tarhase nahi jaanta, ke kyu lekin jaanta hu to sirf yehi ke mujhe ek khaas cheese yaha keech ke laayee hai.

Ananya: or wo kya hai? (still with her head bowed)

Veer: (turns her towards him and puts her head up so she is facing him) ek aisa haseen chehra jise ek baar dekhle to baar baar dekhne ko mann kare. Aisee saagar jaisee aankhe jise dekhke onme dhoob jaane ko mann kare. Ek aisee haseen muskurahat jiske khilne se puri dunya ke bhaag khil jaaye. Ek aisa haseen roop jiska duja is dunya me koi nahi. Ab aap hee bataye itna sab kuch khaas ho to phir me osse dhoore kese rehsakta hu

She kept staring at him with love and her eyes had become moist. This guy was so wonderful and he held so much love for her in his heart that she almost felt she didn't deserve it.

Veer: (saw her tears and began wiping them off) in aankho me se in keemti moti ko mat giraaye rajkumari. Kya aapko meri koi bhi baat ka bura laga?

Ananya: nahi…yeh baat nahi hai. Ham to bus yeh soch rahe the ke koi kisee ke baare me itnee gehrayi se kese soch sakta hai. Or aap ne jesa abhi kaha osse hamare aankh bhar aayi ke aap kitne acche hai or itnee saari taareefe hamare liye theek nahi

Veer: kisne kaha aapse? Maine abhi abhi jo kaha wo to bohat kam hai. Aapke liye yeh lafz bhi kam mole hai. Mera bas chale to me puri dunya ko aapke pairo ke neeche rakhdu

Ananya: bus kijye…warna hamse or bardaasht nahi hoga (her heart was on a high now as she could expect what was to come next)

Veer: aaj me jo yaha kehne aaya hu, wo me kahe bina nahi jaane waala. (takes both her hands in his) me aaj aapse yeh kehne aaya hu ke maine apni zindagi sirf ek hee larki se pyaar kiya hai or wo aap hai. Ha Ananya maine hamesha se sirf aapse hee pyaar kiya hai. Aap hee hamesha se meree prerna rahee ho or meree jine kee waje. Or ab me apni zindagi ko pura karna chahta hu. Me apni zindagi ko or bhi haseen bana na chahta hu or yeh tabhi hoga jab aap meri zindagi me hamesha ke liye aajaaengee

She was elated to hear all this and tears of joy came out of her eyes.

Veer: kya aap mujhse shaadi karengee?

That question was expected but she didn't know it would come so quick like this and she kept staring at him. Her eyes were full of tears now and at an impulse she hugged him tight

Ananya: aap nahi jaante yeh sunne ke liye me kabse beichaan thi.

Both of them were really happy that finally they were united once and for all.

Back in Nivriti's room all of them were sat but Sis was really anxious and kept fidgeting and pacing up and down.

Sia: maa, bhagwaan ke liye hame jaane dijye waapis. (worried) hamne Ananya se waada kiya tha ke ham oske saath rahenge

Nivi: (disappointed) koi zaroorat nahi onke beech jaane ki. Thori or dair bus or sab kuch hojaaehga. (she smiled gladly)

Sia didn't want to agree and left anyways. She took cautious steps towards the hall as she didn't know what to expect either and she didn't really want to disturb them but she also wanted to make sure Ananya was alright so she braced herself and entered the hall.

As soon as she did she froze and decided to turn away again as she found both Veer and Ananya hugging. She felt embarrassed and apologised but Ananya stopped her and both seperated. Then Veer said something in her ear and then he left bidding both of them goodbye.

Then Sia stared at Ananya clearly seeing her happiness in the sparkle of her eyes.

Sia: (knowing smile) to…to kya kaha Rajkumar Veer ne?

Ananya: (comes rushing towards Sia with joy and hugs her tight) Sia, Sia, Sia ham kya bataye. Aaj ham itne khush hai itne khush ke ham bata nahi paaenge

Sia: (very joyful for her) ham tumhe dekh ke kee jaan chuke the

Ananya: (pulls out) Wo hamse bohat pyaar karte hai Sia

Sia: ham hamesha se jaante the

Ananya: wo hamesha se hamse mohabbat karte the, kabhi bhi onhone hame tukraaya nahi (tears of joy in her eyes) Sia ham bohat khush hai aaj

Sia: (holds Ananya's hand) or ham tumhaaree khushi me bohat khush hai

Ananya: kya kabhi bhi tumhe yeh andaaza tha Sia ke sab kuch ant me bhala hee hoga. Istarha se kismat more legi

Sia: ha hame yakeen tha or hamesha rahega

Both the sisters hug again with joy and are really really happy.

The maharaj has arrived and is surprised to find Veer there. After he finds out about the proposal he also is very elated that finally this relation took place. Nivriti was on top of the moon and the whole family was over joyed. Veer soon left saying that he shall soon send a message to them about all the other formalities and the maharaj invited him to come over to Sumaina again soon before it all. He agreed and then left.

Inside the hall

All of the family had returned and were sitting together

S.M: ham aaj bohat khush hai, (hugs Ananya) aakhir khaar me tumhe apna rajkumar mil hee gaya. Hame pura yakeen hai ke ab tumharee zindagee sirf khushiyo se bharee hogi. Tumhaare saare sapne sach honge or tumharee kismat bhi savaar jaaehgee.

Nivi: yeh bhi koi sochne kee baat hai. Are bhool gaye aap ke wo Aryanagar ke rajkumar hai yaani pure rajyo me se sabse bara rajya. (really hyper and comes and hugs Ananya) ham jaante the Ananya to tumhaare saath yehi hoga. Aakhir khaar tumhaare yeh husn ne kamaal dikha hee diya. (kisses her forehead) aaj tumne hame zindagee kee sabse bari khushi dee hai, sabse bari.

Soon all of them left to their respective rooms and Sia and Ananya were in her room.

Sia's room

Ananya: kaash ke Sia ham tumhe bhi itna khush dekh paate…kaash ke tumhaare liye bhi koi aisa rajkumar hota to ham bhi tumhaare liye khush ho paate

Sia: agar tum hame aise 50 rajkumar bhi de do na tab bhi ham tumhaare jitna khush nahi ho paaenge Ananya. Hamare paas sirf tumhaaree acchayee rehsakti lekin tumhaaree khushiya nahi.

Both just sit and think about something in silence and then Sia looks towards Ananya

Sia: ha ham yeh kehsakte hai ke agar hamaree kismat acchi niklee ittefaq se to shayad hame koi dusra Rajkumar Harsh zaroor milsakta hai

Ananya stares at her stunned and then both burst out laughing at the joke. That day had certainly changed all of their lives and they could only see happiness aroudn them and nothing else.

Devghar

Antara: yeh achanak aapko kya hogaya hai Dharam?

Dharam: ham wahi kehrahe hai jo hame theek lagraha hai. (stood with arms folded across his chest) ham hum aapko gumrah nahi karna chahte Antara. Ham maante hai ke hamara rishta pitaji ne te kiya tha or tab hamne pitaji ke khaatir yeh sweekar bhi karliya tha. Magar ab haalat badal chuke hai or yeh aap bhi acchi tarhase jaanti hai ke hum dono kabhi ek saath khush nahi reh paaenge

Antara: lekin Dharam hamne to hamesha se aapko…

Dharam: (raises his hand to shun her) bus ab ham or kuch nahi sunna chahte. Hamne aapko hamara faisla suna diya hai, ab aage aap ki marzi. Hame yakeen hai ke aap apni zindagee yu barbaad nahi karna chahegee.

He left and Antara was left in tears. For the first time she had genuine tears as she had always liked Dharam and held affections for him and they were not false. Then she was distraught and retired to her room bursting into violent tears.
