Suriji: Vidya yeh...
Vidya: Mamaji pata hai. Yeh aapke favorite Capt.Randhawa aur Capt.Abhimanyu hain. Meine TV par dekhatha unko .Hi. Aap se milke bahut khushi hui (She shook hands with Abhi and Gunny) Jaise maine pehle bhi bola tha mera naam Vidya hai. Vidya Suriji ki bhatiji hai, Sangrampura se hai. Kuch din yahan KMA mein rehne wali hai...
Suriji: (Hitting his forehead)Bas kar puttar. Puri Ramayan aur Mahabharat yahin sunane wali ho kya? Thak gaye hogi. Chal mein tujhe tera kamra dikhata hoon.
Vidya: Theek hai. (She wished the Captains goodnight and followed Suriji)
Abhi: Bahut hi interesting hai Suriji ki bhatiji. Don't you think so Captain..
Gunny: Interesting nahin Captain sar dard boliye. Bina kisi full stop ya comma ke bol rahi thi. Batuni kachuaa hai.
Abhi: Well Captain aap to ladkiyon mein bahut hi famous hain. TV par hame bhi dikhaya gaya tha. Lekin hamara ek bhi fan nahin hai. Ek taraf jo bhi problem ho Cadet Sameera ko woh aapke pass bhagke aati hain aur doosri taraf Vidya jisne aapko TV par dekha aur aapse milne chali aayee hain. Raaz kya hai?
Gunny gave him his standard smile.
Gunny: Cadet Shroff ka mein bodyguard tha , unke yahan join karne se pehle ,isiliye woh mere saath comfortable feel karti hain aur rahi baat Vidya ki woh young hain, is umar mein hero worship karna common hai kyonki unko reality pata nahin hota.
Abhi: Aap bahut hi pathar dil hain. Do khoobsurat ladkiyan aap pe jaan nichawar karti hain aur aap hain ki...
Gunny: Aap ko pata hain ki mein pyaar mein vishwaas nahin karta. Ladkiyan ek distraction ban jaati hain. For example Cadet Gaur . Woh apna time Cadet Bisht aur Cadet Shroff ko impress karne me barbad karta hai. Training aur classes ke waqt unka dhyan un dono par hota hai. Woh ek acha army officer kaise ban sakta hai?
Abhi: Aap kham ma kham pareshan ho rahe hain. Cadet Gaur waqt aane par apne aap ko sabit karega. Ab Chalen kal ke drill ke liye tayari karni hai.
Suriji and Vidya were in her room. There was an extra room in the girl's hostel which Vidya would be staying in.
Vidya: Mamaji kya mein yahan kisi college mein...
Suriji: Pata hai tujhe padne ka shok hai. Lekin kuch mahine tujhe yehi rahna padega. Yaha se bahar kisi bhi cheez ke liye jaana terliye risky hoga. Poore India mein Iqbal ka network bahut hi strong hai. Use pata chal jaayega ki tu yahan hai'
Vidya nodded her head. At the moment the most important thing for her was her freedom everything else was secondary.
Vidya skipped dinner that night. She wanted to have a nice warm bath and sleep. The past three months she had not slept well. At the place where Iqbal had held her she was the only girl. She was not so sure if the men would behave themselves. She had slept very little and stayed awake most of the time.
The next day at 5 a.m. Gunny was out jogging when he saw a girl standing near the banyan tree in the courtyard. On closer look he realized it was Vidya. She was looking at the banyan tree intently.
Vidya had not been able to sleep peacefully that night. She had nightmares of the day when Maa and Babuji were killed and Iqbal telling her that she had no option other than getting married to him. Once she woke up from her nightmares she had not been able to get back to sleep. The images were stuck in her head. Early in the morning she decided to step out of her room for a walk. The banyan tree had captivated her...the fact that it has been there for years fighting all odds intrigued her..she felt she had a lot to learn from the tree. There were times when in captive she thought of killing herself...but never found the guts to do so...that would be her giving up without a fight...her Maa and Babuji had given up their life protecting her...their efforts would have gone waste...
She could feel Gunny standing behind her.
Vidya: Captain yeh ped kayee saalon se yahan hain na.
Gunny: Haan...
Vidya: Is ped ne itne saalon mein bahut se utar chadav dekhe honge. Kayee tarah ke mausam. Lekin har utar chadav ka datke samna kiya hai. Abhi bhi seena tan ke khada hai har mushkil ka samna karne'
Vidya suddenly turned around, excused herself and went running towards the girls hostel.
Gunny was surprised to hear all this from Vidya. Yesterday when he had met her he had thought her to be a happy go lucky girl with no responsibilities in life. Today she sounded older and matured like someone who had seen her share of pains in life.
While running back to her room Vidya crashed into two girls...
