Chapter 2:
In the back of the cafeteria, sat a lonely Kripa eating nothing for fear of finding herself in another 'attack' Quickly she glanced around the cafeteria staring at it for perhaps the last time in her life, she had managed to switch schools instantly and this would be her sixth school for the year where someone had forced her to switch out. In another calm movement, Kripa pulled out her book and began reading 'The Notebook' a story she loved deeply, something that had a certain magic to it, she sighed dreaming about a similar love story in her life but in reality everyone shied away from her as if she were a monster ready to attack. She groaned silently and continued on reading. Meanwhile Angad, Josh and Prithivi entered the room sniggering and passing remarks about the hot girls or of the new 'moti' in town aka 'Kripa Sharma'
"hey excuse us, make way please, uff moti move out of the way!" Prithivi screamed, trying to find room to get around her. She looked away he was ten feet away from her and had managed to pass of something so cheap and disgusting. Josh and Angad burst out laughing and watched as Kripa repeatedly rolled her eyes daring up the courage to sit still and read. "Moti aren't you hungry today? Won't you eat anything - oh I see you are saving all the food so everyone can eat and not only you! How sweet of you but if you intend to do that do NOT eat the book!" he snickered and tossed a high five towards Angad. Kripa glanced at him with pain in her eyes, he stared back slightly confused and in the next moment passed something she never wanted to hear. "Oye elephant! How do your parents afford to keep a house and feed you, if I had a sibling like you, boy would we go bankrupt in an hour and all the struggles going to one place looking for the right clothes and the next to order your type of dish. What kind?" Angad asked turning around to glance at Prithivi and Josh who just shrugged, "the fat kind!" the trio sniggered away hooting around the table where Kripa sat with tears rushing down her eyes, thinking and pondering when would all of this stop? First it had only been her parents and now the entire world was mocking her.
As the trio walked away and headed towards the front of the lunch line easily cutting those who waited for several minutes hoping to get their food; two students sat down on the other end of the table where Kripa sat alone wiping away her tears. Mustering up some courage she glanced at them and mumbled a cheery "hi! My name is Kripa and who are you?" she questioned. They stared at her dumbfounded and looked around the room noticing everything had suddenly gotten quieter. "I can't believe she just talked to us, look now everyone is staring!" the younger chubby looking girl gasped. While the other stared at Kripa and said, "oh you forgot in your introduction your fat! And who I am I am skinny if that's what you are asking!" she mumbled, grabbed her bag and walked away from her lunch table shaking her head in disgust at Kripa. "don't know where these fat people come from -- they should have a special school for them where they can serve more than one person!" the chubbier one remarked walking away her head held high as she brought Kripa's self esteem lower.
Kripa glanced around once again at those sitting nearby, she was an outsider no one wanted anything to do with! A nobody with no identity at this school just a fat and overweight person was how her emotions and feelings were depicted. The tears rushed down with fury and in an instant she snapped up and ran out of the hall after hearing someone scream, "earthquake save us!" that was more than enough for a day. And with that she ran through the closed doors of the cafeteria and out towards the field settling nearby a tree whom she managed to call her own. "this school year is going to be worse!" she mumbled to herself realizing her parents were not going to allow another move.

"Aye do you have any classes with the moti?" Angad questioned Josh who stared back stumped and nodded negatively. "Darn this year would have been much more exciting if she was in one of our classes!" Angad muttered before glancing towards his car where Kripa stood waiting for a ride. "this is it!" Angad smirked, "let's get going!" Josh snickered "peace at last! Who know school could be so fun!" both laughed and headed towards Angad's car. "excuse me moti move away from the car your sending fat vibes to it, it's going to explode!" Josh broke out in to fits, while Angad just shook his head he had a better idea. "Kripa?" Angad called out to her huskily. Kripa turned to look at him trying not to appear rude, "yes how may I help you?" she asked innocently once again and manage to stump him in seconds.
Several moments later Angad found his voice, "would you like a car ride home?" he asked fluttering his eyelashes shyly. Kripa smiled, "no thank you!" she mumbled and looked away. This time both Josh and Angad glanced at one another, "did a moti just turn you down, not once have you ever been turned down!" Josh spoke startled. Boy was this a hot topic for this weeks high school newsletter. "shut up Josh!" Angad growled and looked towards Kripa again, "Kripa ji, would you please just get in, we can drop you off at home!" Angad asked for the twentieth time. After twenty minutes Kripa eventually realized she wasn't going to find her mother's car anywhere nearby to pick her up. Sighing she turned to walk away when she heard Angad ask again. Taking in the long distance to walk and his car, she accepted and moved towards his car. "OYE what the heck do you think your doing?" Angad snapped, glancing at her. Kripa startled looked up, "you just asked if I wanted a ride, and I accept!" she smiled sweetly at him. Angad snorted, "humph did you really think I was going to give you a ride and aye don't get in, my car's tires will just get a puncture as soon as you sit in, or my seat will tear to shreds and my beautiful red mustang will break apart the second your foot steps in. Now back away from the car I have places to be and go!"
Kripa watched him drive out of school premises with teary eyes, on her first day of school she managed to make everyone hate her and that too with no crime! She wiped her tears away and decided on walking the three miles back home after realizing the bus was long and gone! Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day, she thought optimistically and walked off.

"How was your first day at school gulabo?" Gayatri asked as Kripa walked in through the door. "it was great!" Kripa replied sourly, and glanced towards the T.V. hoping to find her favorite show on, but awkwardly enough it was her father lying across the couch watching "Deal or No Deal!" Sighing she began trudging up the stairs when Gayatri called her down again, "gulabo it's time for dinner!" Kripa sighed and turned back around heading towards the dining room where she sat quietly as Gayatri gave her half the food with a smirk on her face. From the other end of the table she watched as Suryaban shook with laughter. No one understood her, the only person who did was Karan but at the moment he wasn't here. She sighed and glanced towards her mother, "ma how come you didn't come and pick me up from school today?" she asked, pain crossing her face as she recalled the day's hideous events. Suryaban roared with laughter at another "inside" joke and spoke, "we thought it was about time you started burning off those extra hundred thousand calories you have on you!" he roared with laughter once again saw Gayatri smile slightly. "and we saved a trip from having to get the car tilted to the same level!" he chuckled wiping away the tears from his eyes yet his eyes sparkled with amusement.
Kripa watched them both hurt, and without touching her food walked up the stairs, crying silently towards her room. Suryaban and Gayatri watched with amusement and surprise to find her not eating away. Back upstairs Kripa pounded her punching bag hitting the bag until her knuckles no longer could feel the blood drizzling down her chubby fingers. "who cares what I do? No body gives a damn about me -- the only thing anyone can see is your appearance!" she mumbled to her teddy bear, someone with whom she spilled her heart's content too. "I didn't even eat today, skipped lunch and dinner, but does it matter? Nope! Maybe it wont be a crime any longer to be fat…" she mumbled the last bit finding a new rush of tears in her eyes.
Thank you so much everyone once again for the comments, and as I said earlier I sincerely hope I am not hurting or offending anyone's feelings. This story is written so others may people from the inside rather than the outside. As always - sukhi
