Part-3
Mukti was in her room unpacking. The time she had entered this house she as having a strange feeling. She felt that the path they came in was regularly used by the prince. The objects told her the same things. He might be visiting the place very often as this place, after all both his sisters lived here. But she was feeling from the objects that he lived here. This was her talent and she couldn't help but feel. She knew that no one from Preet, Prem and Armaan is prince. Could Angad be the one? What Riddhima said about his breeding cemented her doubts. The guy seemed nice though. Just then her husband entered the room. He too has sensed that something was disturbing her. Prem slid his arms around her waist from back and slid placed his chin on her shoulder.
"So, tell me what is bothering you?" Prem asked placing a feather light kiss on her neck.
"This house," Mukti answered smiling. She was the one who read things, people and everything else but her husband was the one who read her. His powers are only useful on battlefield but he holds a great deal of power of love for those he cares.
"Darling, can we clarify a bit... you know very well that I am slow," Mukti chuckled. There was no doubt in that. He surely was slow when it comes to relationships but his love makes up for everything, "So what does the house says to my love?"
"The prince, it tells me about the prince," Mukti answered simply.
Prem was astonished and turned her around to look into her eyes, "The prince, you mean our prince... the prince as in the prince of India?"
"Yes my dear husband, the prince as in the prince of India." Mukti giggled at her husband's reaction. He had great admiration for him. He had killed the right hand of Vijay Virani alone at the age of fifteen when he was jus t in school. "The path we used to enter is regularly used by him. there are objects in this house that are only used by him for example the chair at the dining table on which Riddhima was sitting while explaining us about Angad's powers and telling us our rooms and I reached her to console as everyone seemed mad at her for saying those words to Angad. I came in contact with the chair. It is never used by anyone else but the prince and Riddhima today." Mukti bit her bottom lip before continuing, "I suspect Angad is the prince."
"No ways Angad is the prince... love, the prince is supposed to have both dark and virtual powers. But Riddhima told us that Angad is just super in everything and he reads minds. That is it. And I hate him." Prem finished at last in contempt dripping from his voice. "It might be that the prince might visit this place very often after all both his sisters live here and not to mention among freaks. I will keep a check on them if I was him."
Though Prem have given her a very good case to think otherwise but Mukti still had her doubts but she decided to let it go, for now. "Why so? I liked Angad... when he apologised there was so much sincerity and guilt in his voice and his eyes. He is handsome too... could give you, Kaavya and Armaan a run for your money if he jumps into the game." Mukti enjoyed her husband going different colors of red and green for a while and then let the last blow, "He seemed like only gentle man among Custodians."
"Gentleman my foot...he is the biggest freak among all of them," said Kripa as he entered their room, "sorry for not knocking, I was going to but when you said Angad is a gentleman it took me off guard." Kripa explained.
"What are you doing here?" Prem asked Kripa annoyed. He wanted his wife all to himself right now.
"I came here to help Mukti unpack," the replied and then turned to Mukti, "you looked like you could use some help. You look exhausted."
"I am," Mukti agreed and her hand unconsciously reached her belly. She wanted everyone to be present when she breaks that news but before that she first wanted to tell Prem alone; that he was going to be a father.
Right then Heer entered their room, "Sorry for prying as I was listening from my room and yes I totally agree with sis that Angad is not only handsome but also a gentleman."
"Heer, what a great way to use your enhanced senses," Mukti said disapprovingly.
"Hey don't blame me... I did not do it on purpose it Kaavya he wanted to..." before she could say anything else Kaavya popped beside her out of thin air and put a hand on her mouth to quieten her. Here is the whole family, Prem thought as Pushkar entered the room with a big grin on his face.
"Kaavya wanted to what Heer?" Kripa asked.
"Nothing that can be of your interest, kiddo" Kaavya said eyeing her to not to tell anyone but Mukti knew. She was not sure if Angad was prince or not but Kaavya was definitely on his way to be a prince. What was wrong with all of them? They all had so much on their minds that she did not think it is appropriate time to break the news to them. But she has to tell them sooner or later. And she has too much on her mind. This is not good for her or her kid. She was tired and her hand automatically patted her belly. "Oh! I need to sit." Mukti just had to say those words and Pushkar had a chair flying across the room and made it land at Mukti's feet.
"There you go sweet sister- in- law," Pushkar said eyeing the chair with a grin across his face. Mukti just sat on the chair when someone knocked on the door and Armaan was standing in the doorway.
"What are you doing here?" everyone except Mukti asked in unison. Armaan totally ignored all of them and kneeled in front of his childhood friend, Mukti. Mukti was a Khanna before her marriage to Prem. Mukti, Armaan and the Prince were childhood friends but prince was sent away by the council and Mukti when fell in love with Prem in the school joined them. But they still share the bond of friendship and right now Armaan was very worried about his friend.
"Are you alright? Anjali wanted me to check on you." Of course Anjali would know and so would Angad, Mukti thought, but what did she tell Armaan?
"Why did Anjali want you to check on me Armaan?" Mukti asked.
"Nothing... she just came outside and told me to check on you... so here I am. I can't believe she is looking out for you. She does that only for those whom she cares for unless... Angad tells her to do so."
"How is Angad?" Mukti asked smiling at Armaan's scowl. She knew she has hit the sore cord.
"I don't know... Anjali is not letting anyone of us in. And as she is mad at Riddhima she is not telling us anything." Armaan's scowl was now accompanied by a frown.
"Why are you all mad at Riddhima?" Heer asked, "Just because she said all those things to Angad because of us... just because she sided us... don't you think Angad was wrong when he listened to our thoughts."
"He can't help it... Angad can't control the power of hearing people's minds. We all have a choice to use our powers with our convenience... Angad don't." Armaan explained through his clenched teeth.
"And what about basting them on us... that jerk made our joke... imbecile," Kripa challenged.
"I know such a perfect word for you... imbecile... isn't it Miss Presumptuous," Armaan said sarcastically.
"Is it just because Riddhima ordered Angad to apologize to us Armaan?" Mukti asked.
"That is no problem at all. Angad would have apologised to you guys anyways. It was the words Riddhima used. She herself knows she should have said that in a better way," Armaan sighed, "Angad closes him on lots of things, in fact on almost everything. There is so much expected from him that he has lost our Angad. I remember the first meeting of custodians. It took him full one year to be comfortable around Prem and Preet. He will stand by you in anything but will never share what he feels. It's all about others and nothing about him. His duties and responsibilities make him. He opened up after a long time today. God bless whatever made it happen but the words Riddhima chose will make him berate himself and he will cut him off again from all of us." A loud hoot disturbed Armaan. They all instantly knew it was the infamous and unfriendly phoenix of Guru Drona who only loved his master.
"Blessed... what is he doing here? Grandpa just visited us today." Armaan said his voice full of contempt. Blessed gave another hoot.
"What did Guru Drona think before naming him blessed... that brat is Satan's spawn," said Prem.
"Only thing we can agree on," Mumbled Armaan when blessed hooted again, "for god's sake some open the damn door or a window before he makes all of us deaf." Armaan said and then opened the window himself but instead of entering blessed launched himself down. They all headed downstairs to know what has brought blessed here. It must be very important or Guru Drona would never let him out of sight. When they all reached drawing room they saw no one there. Then it clicked in Armaan's mind and he ran to the healing room. Nanda's had no idea so they followed Armaan. Everyone was present there and Nanda's had the shock of their life. Blessed had made himself comfortable on Angad's shoulder and cooed when Angad nuzzled him. Angad untied three letters from the feet of blessed. One had his name on it, one had Riddhima and Anjali's name on it and the third said "Protectors". Angad called Heer and gave her the letter that said protectors. It was the time when he realized that Kripa had her shield on all the Nanda's and he smiled to himself. Well there were more important things to do so he turned towards Heer who was looking at the letter blankly.
"Heer, what are you waiting for? Read it." Angad encouraged.
"You can read my mind...right?" Heer asked.
"Kripa has her shield on," Angad said simply.
"Will that stops you to read my mind?" Heer asked as Kripa smirked at him.
"I can choose to penetrate it, yes...but I won't." Everyone looked at Angad in total shock.
"You know that Kripa's shield is the one of the strongest shields in the talismanic world," Heer inquired.
"Yes I am aware of that but she is not the only one with extra ordinary powers in talismanic world," Angad replied. Kripa glared at him.
"Break through it." Heer said to Angad while he looked at her baffled.
"She might not like it you see," Angad replied pointing at Kripa who was finding the whole situation very offensive. No one has ever been able to go past through her shield and her is this good for nothing, self centred man claiming it to do so. Armaan was finding the whole situation very hilarious and his thoughts were making Angad laugh too which worked as fuel into fire. Kaavya on the other side was still trying to figure out what was going on between Angad and Kripa. They were smiling at each other knowingly. And to the amusement of every Nanda Angad was managing everyone's thoughts and also answering Heer.
"I am telling you to do that... just break through mine...not rest of us," Heer said.
Angad nodded and then closed his eyes concentrated and touched Heer to listen her thoughts.
"Why are you asking me to read it? I am not even a Khanna. What are you playing at? And yes I really think that you are gentleman but take that to your head and IGNORE Kripa. She is edgy about her powers unlike you." Heer said through her thoughts.
"Because you fit; you have a photographic memory. If you read it we will perfectly able to recall the contents of this letter. You are an Omni linguistic, so if there is a language that we have to decode or translate we don't have to go to library and grab a book."
"Yeah right as if you can't do it," Armaan mocked him and Preet just snorted. Angad glared at them warning them to behave themselves.
"And as far as the question of you being a Khanna is concerned we all are protectors first and besides you all are already a part of the family for me. We are here to work together not fight. My work is very important to me and it always takes the first place in my life," Angad continued and smiled at her offering her the letter.
Heer smiled back and took the letter from Angad. At that point Angad knew that out of six, one battle was won. He and Heer were friends. Heer tore the letter and read.
"Dear Protectors,
The council is very proud to make this unit called protectors as it consists of our most efficient and brave fighters. Considering your competency the captain of this team should be as brave and competent so that he can make best use of your powers. The council has decided that the Protectors will be lead by the Prince of India himself. The prince will reveal his identity to you guys anytime within two months when he thinks the time is appropriate as he is busy on an assignment. This means you all have two months to know each other and clear all the grounds and know each other better. See you all at the Christmas ball as "Nest" is the venue this time.
Have a nice bonding.
Regards,
Guru Drona.
"Riddhima open your letter. What is all this about Royal Christmas Ball being held here?" Armaan asked totally panicked.
Riddhima who was already reading the letter replied, "Its true the Christmas Ball is being held at the Nest this year and we all have to organise it. I and Anjali being the members of the royal family are in charge."
"Oh no," moaned all the men in Khanna clan. This was a pure horror as they knew Riddhima and Anjali were going to drive them nuts.
"WOW... the prince guys... can you believe it."Heer exclaimed.
"Well we will have warrior with us but why are you moaning about ball... what is the big deal about it?" Prem Nanda asked worried about what he has to do. Arranging functions was not his favourite part.
"Time till Christmas ball is going to be dreadful." Angad replied.
