Do you see yourself as a part of the Fame Jodi? Yes there are very good chances. I am in the top four and I am working very hard on my singing. In the next Gala, only one will be safe and three will be in danger. Qazi has a very strong following and even when in danger, he gets voted back. So I see myself in direct competition with Ruprekha, Sandeep and Arpita. Whom would you like to see as your Fame Jodi? Qazi or Arpita and there are reasons for this. Qazi and I get along very well and if we perform together we can make the audience rock. We are fun-loving guys. Arpita again is a very mature and versatile singer; she can sing any kind of song. When Arijit left, he blamed you and Arpita for his departure... I think he is very kiddish. That time in the Ranbhoomi, Sandeep sang better. If we are only to vote for the better singer, then why have the Ranbhoomi at all? I always base my voting on the Ranbhoomi performance. The jury and faculty have always been praising Arijit and calling him their favourite. What do you think of this? No doubt Arijit was/is a very good singer but then there are other good singers in the Gurukul too and some equally trained. Look at Ruprekha. Again everyone is putting in a lot of effort and that should be respected and constantly praising one (read Arijit) and constantly calling him a favourite on a public platform can demoralise others and is not fair to the others. How is your mother feeling with reaching the very top? She is absolutely thrilled and proud. She tells me that I should give my best but even if I am not the Fame Jodi it is fine. For an untrained singer like me to reach so far is in itself a great achievement. I was lucky to come back through the wild card round and she tells me to count my blessings.
