Don't know if anyone posted this before....

The so-called chemistry between Fame Gurukul contestants Rex D'Souza and Ruprekha Bannerjee, which viewers couldn't help but notice, has turned out to be a mere myth.

These two participants of Sony's reality show have been touted week after week as a couple — and have even admitted to the judges, Javed Akhtar, Shankar Mahadevan and Kay Kay Menon, that they are fond of each other.

But the truth is, in the final episode of Fame Jodi this Thursday, the Kolkata girl would rather not have Rex as her partner for the Fame Jodi crown. Ruprekha prefers to share the honour with the in-your-face Qazi Touqeer; she wants Andheri-resident Rex to lose.

Sab acting tha

According to Gurukul insiders, the Kolkata girl has, of late, being openly saying, "I'd rather be with Qazi than with Rex!"

This volte-face was evident in last Thursday's episode, when Ruprekha voted against Rex. She preferred to support Arpita Chatterjee, much to Rex's chagrin. It was Qazi's vote for Rex that saved him from being ousted, which ultimately resulted in Arpita making an exit from the show.

When asked, Ruprekha admits, "Yes, I would prefer to be with Qazi." Obviously, she's a smart cookie who knows who the audience favours. So was the entire lovey-dovey, gel-with-Rex act only for the cameras? "That's what everyone thought and assumed," is the reply.

The existing dynamics at Gurukul threw up three options for the title — Rex and Ruprekha or Qazi and Ruprekha or Rex and Qazi as the Fame Jodi.

From day one, Rex and Ruprekha have been touted as the most "romantic jodi", with Ruprekha as the golden voice of Gurukul, while Rex was the prince of performance. However, this act has now fallen through.

Qazi ki pasand

Srinagar-based Qazi has always been vocal about the fact that he and Rex would be a great jodi. In an earlier interview to hitList, Qazi said, "Rex is a great singer and I am a super performer. We will rock together as Fame Jodi." He has also been forthcoming about the fact that Rex is his favourite co-contestant.

Now, with Rex being cold-shouldered by Ruprekha, one is unsure about how she will be able to match up with Qazi's showmanship.

Whatever Ruprekha's choice, the fact remains that it is the audience that will decide the winners. From among the 14 Fame finalists, Rex and Qazi were the only two who did not receive any formal training in music. Yet, they managed to sail through, because of their ability to connect with viewers.

Who leads Jodi race?
Currently, Ruprekha and Qazi's jodi leads with the maximum number of votes; as the Ruprekha and Rex jodi inches closer, Rex-Qazi's fate hangs in the balance.

No Jassi, Kkusum
This Wednesday and Thursday, there will be no episodes of Kkusum, as Fame Gurukul will air from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm on Wednesday, and 8.30 to 10 pm on Thursday. Jassi gives her high-drama a miss on Thursday for the Fame Jodi's crowning special.

How to vote
Voting lines will remain open till 7 am on Thursday.
1. To vote for Ruprekha and Qazi: Type 'FJ01' and send an SMS to 2525 or call 19044242525 01.
2. To vote for Rex and Ruprekha: Type 'FJ02' and send an SMS to 2525 or call 19044242525 02.

It's fame or shame for Ruprekha, Qazi and Rex

As the competition reaches a crescendo tomorrow, the three finalists on Sony's 'Fame Gurukul' share a medley of moods

Ruprekha: I don't know who's going to win or lose on Thursday. But I regret voting my colleague Arpita out. Rex is a good singer and performer. But I feel I deserve to be in the final 'Fame Jodi'. I think I'm a better singer than Rex. I sincerely feel Arpita should be in the finals in place of Rex. I've learnt a lot from 'Fame Gurukul'. I've learnt how to handle pressure and sing even in acute tension. I led a middle-class life until 'Fame Gurukul'. Now I find myself in the midst of sudden recognition and fame. Though people say I can be an actress I only want to be a singer. I've acquired great confidence singing in front of judges Javed Akhtar, Shankar Mahadevan and KK. The whole world watches me. I'm sure I can make my place in the singing world. I love Lataji and Ashaji. Among contemporary singers I like Shreya Ghosal and Sonu Nigam. The real struggle begins when I will move out of the safety of 'Fame Gurukul'.

Qazi Tauqeer : It's an amazing feeling to have reached so far. The final crown might not be mine. But I feel on top of the world. One never knows what will happen, please pray for me. There's a sense of rivalry. But we don't hate each other for singing well. It's healthy competition. When people say Qazi is filmy, I like it! I want to be a complete package - dancer, singer and actor. It's my dream to work in a movie and sing my own song. Rex thinks training for music is a must. But I don't think so. Look at Udit Narayanji; he isn't a classical singer. The important thing is to sing from the heart, like Kishore Kumarji. He is my role model. People are sending me feelers from the industry. After the finals, I want to become a rock star. The audience loves me. I think they like my confidence. But I am nervous on stage. I don't know what will happen on Thursday. Rex , Ruprekha and I will continue to be friends forever.

Rex D'Souza: I am nervous. Whether I win or lose, my career has taken off. I've learnt a lot from 'Fame Gurukul'. I'm very confident about winning. For the past few months my life has changed completely. Now I've no life outside Gurukul. At times we get just two to three hours of sleep a day. It's a do-or-die situation. People ask us if Qazi and I pretend to be friends for the camera. But we're really friends. We've been together for fourteen weeks. I treat Ruprekha like my sister. One of us is bound to be out during the finals. But we'll continue to be friends, regardless of the 'Fame Jodi' title. Life goes beyond competitions. I intend to learn the nuances of music seriously.
