Fame Gurukul - A pathetic attempt

I am not sure how many people will agree with me but my personal opinion is that this contest is no longer a contest; its a pathetic show/drama. I find following reasons:

(1) First of all, INDIAN viewers in India DO NOT have any sense of music at all but still, their opinion matters in such high voltage competition.....dunno why?

(2) The JUDGES can only comment on the performances while I think they could be given the last authority to qualify or disqualify a singer sorted in DANGER zone instead of public.

I would rather watch and enjoy Zee Tv competition "Challenge 2005" than watching this drama where GLAMOUR is given preference than QUALITY and TALENT such as dresses by so and so, mobile phone, shopping centers, jewelers, and so on and on...

And to those who think QAZI deserves to be in FG, please DO NOT insult Indian Music though you guys are already used to REMIXES than the originals.

NYorker that was a well written post.
My personal opinion
1-indian viewers know what music is..they are the ones who buy cds.You can't say out of millions who vote don't know music. What sounds good is good music.
I don't think students should be given the choice to vote.Obviously they will choose who ever they feel threatened by.
And its those mobile phones and shopping centers who pay for the airtime..so I think its their right to have the products advertised.
We all have different opinions on which contestant we like but we come here cause we have one thing in common.FG entertains us.

Indeed, every event or competition has sponsors but noone advertises and brags about it in the middle of a contest as they doing here. If you have ever watched Challenge 2005 on Zee TV, you would know what is a REAL competition and how decisions are taken instantly. Fame Gurukul is a JOKE in the name of a competition.

"What sounds good is a good music" Can someone justify this?

BTW, this competition is about SINGERS.....they are singing already sung songs and still they cannot match the "sur-taal".......what else could be more pathetic.

Their opinion matters because they're the people watching the show. If it wasn't for them, there would be no show, so therefore their opinion matters. Also, as many people have stated, the viewers in India are the ones who buy the music. It's what they want - if they want Qazi in, so be it. If they want him out - so be it.

They are there to judge the competition, and sort out four members who they think did not perform as desired. At the end of the day, it's not the judges who are buying the music, it's the public. Therefore it is indeed acceptable that the public has the last say.

I've seen a few episodes of Challenge 2005, and honestly I don't like it as much as Fame Gurukul - but that's my opinion, I'm not forcing it on anyone😊 And, for once, I highly agree on the extent of advertising. I mean, yes, they sponser you and you should advertise them a tad bit, but it gets annoying when Manav always pulls out his phone and goes, "Mein yeh lamha mere [insert model number] phone pe capture karna jatha hoon...". Also, they advertise Sony's on shows. That's really annoying. But um the dresses - they're not doing that to an extent. All shows take a moment to go, "Our contestants are looking so beautiful today, and that's all thanks to [insert company name here]." But, yeah, overall the advertising is too much and gets on my nerves.

My totally honest, unbiased and heart-breaking opinion is: yes, Qazi does not deserve to be in Fame Gurukul. I adore him, he's a sweetheart, but FG is losing some good singers because of him. Qazi, however, is a touchy subject for me and one which I have mixed feelings for, so I won't venture too deep.

Overall, your article was very well-written. Kudos to you😊

Nice comments overall but I still don't agree with the fact that the viewers be given the last authority to decide. I understand that they will spend the money to buy CDs but they should invest their hard-earned money into something worth keeping in their library rather than just one time craze.

I had said this before that whoever will be two finalists, they will not go any further than SONY TV while some SaReGaMa contestents (Shreya Ghosal, Kunal Ganjawala, etc.) have already made into bollywood big time and the trend will continue because SaReGaMa is a serious competition and honors serious contestents only. However, still best of luck to Fame Gurukul contestents.
