Well well well I see a mention of Mandira, Ruprekha, Aishwarya, Mallika, Preity, Esha, Rimi... over what??? Some crappy outfit Mandira might have worn..(might have - as I have not seen it yet)
People ara comparing Mandira with Movie roles - The difference is quite obvious - the movies they are playing roles, but in hosting a show - she is not playing any role, she is a host and is supposed to be deccent. What was the need of noodle straps in Cricket Coverage one must say? No excuse that director says and they have to do that - If it is not required and does not suit the need of the time/show you are hosting, you can avoide it.
And the comparison of RR and Aishwarya was totally irrelevanat as both were two different entities in different media and roles - Aishwarya was not performing in a nationwide telecasted talent/reality show. She was playing the role of a bar dancer - if you don't like it than good, just forward it or walk out of the theatre untill the song is over, why see it? Ruprekha was performing as a singer/performer and not playing the role of a bar dancer. If she was playing a movie role like that, to some extent she might have to open up.
Coming back to Mandira - not seen her dress, but her dressing sense needs a makeover big time. Throughout the show it was very rare she dressed tastefully, and she might have been provided with many choices at that. Not talking about indeccent/deccent dressing, but she has to dress for the ocassion and she can argue for the dress and no director/producer will throw the hostess out just for one skimpy outfit and one last episode... period.
Me and my 2 cents worth of reasons why I should stop wasting my time defending Mandy:
1) Double standards, inevitable.
2) Lack of experience & exposure in media industry = lack of acceptance and understanding of media folks.
From my personal experience (fine, not in India, though...), there are many egoistic characters driving and thriving in the media industry (again, fine, not sure about Indian media industry...) who will not take NO for an answer from an artiste (unless a big and influential star), not even once.
Not sure if this is there in India. But elsewhere, ever wondered why there are skimply clad women promoting cars, condos, credit cards and what not in advertisments and road shows? Because sexy women attract attention and increase viewership.
But ermmm... no idea about cricket matches. Don't even know what the game is about. Never seen one. 😕
