Solution: Playing Videos from FG website

Hello

The members who are having problems playing the famegurukul videos available on www.famegurukul.sify.com, can resolve their problem.

First it is not a problem on our System or Browser. Its a problem with Windows Media Player 9 which at times is not able to locate the links given on their website. This is the solution to play them or download them.

Solution 1, Uninstall Windows Media Player 9 and Use the old 6.2 or 7 Version of Media Player. It might work as it works for me using the old version 6.2, though i have both installed on my pc.

Solution 2, use the following link for all files video files on www.famegurukul.sify.com

mms://210.210.2.74/bbpublish/

That link is to the media server of FG's website.

Now if you want to view or download the videos of FG, then go to the website of FG and keep cursor on file of your choice which you want to view(they only allow online streaming videos to view), then right click and select Copy Link Location, and paste it in notepad. Here this is example of me going to Rex's page at FG website and doing a Copy Link Location and i get something like for the song, Woh Pehli Baar

openwin('fg29aug2005e43_6-128k.wmv')

Now what you see inside single quotes is the file name that opens in new browser & plays in Windows Media Player.

And paste the file name, in the above example file name was

fg29aug2005e43_6-128k.wmv

So the complete URL becomes like this

mms://210.210.2.74/bbpublish/fg29aug2005e43_6-128k.wmv

Now you can either paste that URL in Windows Media Player 9 or any version and play/see it online or you can paste it in any download manager like Flashget (www.amazesoft.com) and download the entire video and play it whenever you want. Though i wouldnt advise to play it online if you have a slow Internet Connection, better download it in that case. I have downloaded them......
