1)The curse is an interpolation. But yet it is mentioned in different parvas so there is consistency in these mentions. So if it is an interpolation whoever has added it has done a good job of keeping it consistent
2)The curse is actually true but Karna wasn't cursed regarding brahamastra but Brahamshira. That would explain why Karna was able to recall Brahamastra and would make karna the only person other than Ashwathama and Arjuna who had Brahamshira
3)The curse is actually true and somehow Karna was powerful enough to overcome it .It would explain the following line in the duel when karna recalls the Brahamastra
Trembling at the shock, Karna then displayed his activity to the utmost of his power. Steadying himself by a powerful effort he invoked the brahmastra
It could also be that karna does something that requires a lot of power to recall Brahamastra hence overcoming the curse
1. Curse story is mentioned twice, but narration of events is different. So it must be an interpolation.
2. According to the story Karna was cursed for Brahmastra only, not B Shira / B Danda. Brahmastra's name is clearly mentioned in CE.
3. If Karna was powerful enough to overcome a curse, which Krishna himself could not do, why are we not praying Karna instead of Krishna?
4. Scientifically, Karna, before his death shows all symptoms of profuse loss of body fluids, in which a main symptom is mental confusions/giddiness which can be overcome (at keast for some time) by a highly healthy individual like Karna. I know medical statistics does not agree with me mostly. But there are always exceptions for everything is also a fact widely accepted. So this curse story is a creation of someone who did not understand the science & it might have been added for one more reason.
