VeeBa OS: Sweet Home Pritampura
My heartfelt thanks to the makers of the movie Sweet Home Alabama...which is one of my all time favorite Romantic movies. I must have watched that movie for atleast a 100 times...The title of my OS is my tribute to the makers of that movie...

Part - 1
She was gone...She left Pritampura without informing him. How dare she do that? Puzzled Baldev. His blood was boiling ...enough to burn down the entire pind. He remembered her tears the last time they met a week ago. She was behind Baldev for an answer to her proposal and Baldev was intentionally avoiding her when finally she forced him blurt out what was the most stupid lines he spoke in his entire life...
Veera: Baldeva, bas mujhe tum kuch tho bata dena...Yes or No...Please
Baldev: Veera...it is a No. You and I can never be lovers or life partners... You have mentioned a million times how irresponsible I am and how much you hated me walking around you. You have played with my heart once and I was wounded enough... I cannot fall in love with you again... I don't feel anything for you now. We can be friends but nothing more.
Veera was in tears ...a strange pain tugged at her heart and was trying to pull her soul out...Was she ready for this? She was more or less only waiting to hear his Yes' because she knew he cared for her but she never knew he was guarding his heart from her. She was not prepared for a heart break. It pains...it pains like hell. What will she do now? She can never imagine anybody else in her life but the only person she wanted turned her down. She was broken.
Veera kept walking at a fast pace...her legs were almost running...running away from the harsh reality that she just now faced. She went to her room and locked herself up for a good two hours...changed and went outside to the city...After a couple of days she informed her Bheeji and Veerji that she wished to do a special course in modern Agri Techiniques at the Agricultural university in Delhi. It was a years' course and she had to leave the next day. The very next day. She never waited to say good bye...not even to her best friends...not even to Balwant ji and Bansuri ji...and not even to her love - Baldev. Her leaving so suddenly left her Veerji and Bheeji in a shock...neither could they convince her against leaving home nor could they reason out with her...She had only one thing to say...She must leave and she was gone.
Baldev called her atleast a hundred times but she never picked his call. He wanted to go after her to Delhi but he was not sure what will he say to her. He introspected his words on that fateful day. Did he really not love her? Was he not dying to make her only his...Was it not jealousy when he sees her with any other guy? Then what made him spit out that venom on that day. It was his friends. When he happily mentioned Veera's proposal for him, they made fun of Baldev saying he was going to be taken for a ride again by Veera. He grew wild and what followed led to Veera leaving him. Pritampura never looked the same after Veera left. He thought he will sum up enough courage one day to go and meet her in Delhi.
Three months passed by:
Ratan: (Over the phone)Veerakadi tu teek hai na?
Veera: I am fine Bheeji. How are you? I am missing veerji, you, chaiji and Gunjan Bhabi like hell.
Ratan: Ok then why don't you come down for a couple of days.
Veera: Nahi Bheeji.. Have loads of work to do and three project papers to be submitted and also a youth carnival where in me and my friends are part of a dance show.
Ratan: Accha...you are dancing. Good to hear. Wish I could be there but lots of meetings pending at the panchayat...Will definitely send Ranvi and Gunjan. OK.
Veera: How is Nihal chachu, Bheeji?
Ratan: He is fine. We offered him to stay at our house but he preferred staying at Balwantji's house. He is of great help to our farmers and the new technique has come out really well. Good that you requested him to come down for a year so that Pritampura and its farmers benefit the most.
Veera: I am so Happy Bheeji. Wish I could be there. Bye Bheeji...
Baldev who had come to visit Gunjan was witness to this phone convo..He was happy that he could atleast hear Veera's voice feebly through the phone. He now felt restless and wanted to meet her. He planned to tag along with Ranvi and Gunjan to the dance show.
Ranvi, Gunjan and Baldev were at Veera's campus. It was a huge place. They did not know where to meet her. Luckily they found one of Veera's friend, Malini who guided them to the auditorium. They still could not see Veera as she was in the green room getting ready for her performance.
Ranvi found a tall and handsome guy rush towards him. He instantly hugged Ranvi and welcomed them all on behalf of Veera. He introduced himself as Rahul, Veera's class mate. Veera has shared family photos with her friends that he said he could identify each one of her family members...however he had no clue of Baldev. Baldev self introduced himself as Veera's very special friend...Gunjan and Ranvi were a little surprised at Baldev's possessive tone and so was Rahul. All three were given seats. The show began and all the three were surprised at how lean and thin Veera has become...though she still looked very beautiful. It pained Baldev to see her like this and felt guilty that he was the one behind all this. Once the dance was over, Baldev and Ranjan went back stage to meet Veera. All her friends were hugging her and congratulating her on a splendid performance. Rahul and a couple of other guys too hugged Veera but Rahul did hug Veera for more than a minute. He seemed genuinely happy for her and looked so smitten by Veera. How could such things ever escape the eyes of a true lover- Baldev and he was ofcourse very angry, wild indeed.
Veera turned around to find Ranjan and Baldev. She instantly hopped in to her Veerji's arms and started crying. Ranvi knew she misses them all. She hugged Gunjan as well but dared not to look at Baldev. She answered a curt Yes or No to his queries but avoided looking at him. They all had lunch with Veera and her friends. Rahul sat close to Ranvi and was in good conversation with him while Veera was busy with Gunjan Bhabi stealing glances at Baldev only when he was not looking at her. After the lunch Baldev heard a few friends of Veera pulling Rahul's leg, teasing him that he was trying his best to impress his future brother-in-law. Veera was washing her hand when Baldev went up to her to speak to her...
Baldev: Veera...tu abb bhi naaraz hai kya?
Veera: Nahi
Baldev: Tu mujse teek se baat bhi nahi kar rahi hai, kudiye. (He started moving close to her)
Veera: (Had tears in her eyes which soon started to flow down) Mujhe jaana hai...
And she left him standing alone. Near the hallway Baldev saw Rahul questioning her on her tears...she did not speak. Rahul slowly put his arm around her shoulder and led her away...
Baldev was left standing alone. He could see the hurt in her eyes but he could also see that she has started adapting herself to the new place, new friends, new life and of course he was pained at the thought of Rahul...Has she really moved on? Does she not think of me? Agreed that I said No' but she could have spoken to me...She was one who played with my heart once and she was one who broke my love...Did she not think it to be necessary that she assures me of her love. She is unaware of the fact that I am still standing at the very place where she left me three months ago...I have not moved on and I am not able to...what should I do???
