Before returning to her pind finally after such a long gap, she had visualized meeting each and every friend, and relative. If there was one meeting that she did not visualize, it was of her and Baldev.
Last night in Delhi, she planned to sleep peacefully reminiscing each of her sweet college memories with Karan. She drifted to sleep. Now there seems to be sudden commotion in Preetampura, Veera was expecting the pind to be all geared up to welcome her, but here there was pattakka and loud music going on... Her eardrums almost ruptured with the sound of the loud speaker, the song reverberated in her ears...
"Aa re Pritam Pyaare... Bandook Mein Na Toh Goli Mere..."
Veera could not take it and she switched off the music with anger. Kiski itni majaal mainu aisa swaagat kare... Pooja wooja karo Aarti utaaro... Suddenly she heard a manly voice, "Preetampura da Pandit thodi na Ban Na Mainu..." She need not even throw a glance towards the source of the voice, Baldev... His name slipped out of her lips... She screamed at the top of her voice "Tu Nahi Sudharega... Tujhe Mein Dekh Loongi..." Suddenly her friends shook her up all surprised... Veera yeh hai tera sleep, kissey dekhne chaahti hai tu??? An irritated Veera replied kisiko bhi nahi dekhna chaahti mein... Peace and Baldev apne aap mein hi ek galat combination hai... If a dream of him who could create this much commotion, what would be the real encounter Veera wondered... But seriously of all the people she dreamt of that jerk Baldev!!! She shook her head in denial. She could have dreamt of her sweet friend Karan, her life her Veerji but na it has to be the shaitaan Baldev to snatch her peace of mind and sleep... Grrr... Veera grumbled...
One of her confused friends asked Veera, "Veera tu eye brow se kya kar rahi thi??? Ek aur baar karke dekhaana..." Suddenly a small smile crept on her lips when the childhood encounters of little Veera and Baldev flashed before her eyes. With a smirk she showed it to her friends and grinned. Now she knows how to irritate Baldev...
Veera finally arrived at her Pind and the whole village welcomed her with great affection and she was deeply touched. But Baldev is nowhere to be seen. Even though she was relieved that her dream didn't come true, she had to admit that his absence did make her feel uncomfortable... Is it possible, he could have forgotten her completely??? Has she become so much insignificant that he won't even bother to look around??? The grown up Baldev might not need the banters with Veera to complete his day??? Veera ignored the thoughts...
Veera roamed the village freely on her Veerji's bike, as it was her first day back home in many years. She wanted to feel everything. Make sure nothing has really changed...!!! By evening Veera had heard quite a lot about Baldev... It was as if the whole universe wants to let her know who he is, what he is like... Veera heard that he is planning to be the sarpanch... Sarpanch aur wohh, pind waale pagal ho gaye honge..." She already made calculations to fail his plans..." Veera could sense admiration for Baldev in the words of girls... She somehow did not quite like it... Veera thought, Kaun apni dushman ki tareef sun na pasand karenge... "Asli handsome ladke kahaan dekhe honge yeh idhar ki ladkiyaan... Jis din Karan se milenge ne yeh sab, tab pata chalega, handsome kya hote hai..."
It was almost night now and she decided to return home. Little did she know that Baldev was busy preparing to welcome Veera in his ishtyle (Style).. As Veera was turning her bike across the bend she saw a series of fire crackers going around... It was so sudden that she lost her balance and in a matter of seconds she was rolling on the ground... As she lifted her head slightly she saw a pair of sneakers covered with dust, the shoes lace was tied in a messy knot... She knew it was Baldev!!!!! The name "Baldev" escaped her lips without even waiting to see as to who is the person... Baldev had a naughty smirk on his face... So she did not forget him as he had speculated...!!! Veera raised her eyes, there he stood, tall and fit as ever and may be a tad bit more handsome than in her dream!!! She did not know that a male could pull of a dark pink Kurta with so much elegance, he was a vision indeed!!! Veera couldn't help but agree with the girls in the pind... He is quite a man to reckon with... At that very moment when they looked at each other, both of them knew what would follow would be mere history...
He's a young village brat; she's an educated city girl. That doesn't change a thing... Does it???
Not at all... All their encounters were quite a thing... Even after these many years of minimal communication they seem to have a strange connection, interesting chemistry...
Veera had a crazy 2013 from the moment she landed up in her pind Preetampura... All thanks to Baldev the chota sarpanch as his chamchaas claimed... Karan had landed up in the village and Veera was delighted to have him here. It was fun to be with your bestie and your enemy. It was a fun tom and jerry race... Now Veera's girl gang also came to spend a few days with Karan and Veera as they had heard quite a lot of stories about Veera's pind and her jaani dushman Baldev... All the girl gang was bullying Karan to let them meet Baldev... Veera just could not get what was so special about him, that they were dying to meet him... Girls screamed at the top of their lungs when they met him... "Baldev, U R Baldev"... Baldev told, "No ji I am B.S Baldev, Baldev Balwant Singh... Hamari papaaji da naam B.S hai iskoool mein likhte the na...U.R nahi hai.. Aap nu koi galat fehmi huyi hai..." Veera giggled hearing Baldev, but her friends were lost. Veera tere dushman aise hai toh dost ki kya zaroorat hai... Veera glared at them... Dushman hai na, humein de de... Baldev was amused to hear them... Veera pulled them to her side and told let's go... Baldev stopped the girls, "Arre kithe jaa rahe ho aap log???? Main baahar tambu gadwaadeta aap logon de vaaste???" Veera could not control her anger, she murmured, "Yeh mera waala dialogue kaise inn pe use kar sakta hai???" Veera yelled at him, "Baldevvv... Tu mere doston ko bahaar tteharwaane ka plan banaa raha ha hai ki..." Baldev laughed sarcastically,"OYE Veera jab dekho mere piche padti rehandi hai... chipku kahinki..." Hearing Baldev all the girls started giggling so loudly which irked Veera. Before Veera could open her mouth, he told Veera that he and Karan would stay outside in the tent and the girls would stay inside the house... Veera could not believe her ears, she thought in her mind "Yeh mere ko bahaar rukwaane ka bol raha tha uss din aur aaj ki mili huyi ladkiyon ke liye inna kar raha hai... duffer tumhein mein dekh loongi..."
Veera was losing her temper seeing the sudden changed Baldev, she is not at all used to him cutting her talk around other girls. Veera without thinking a moment grabbed Baldev's Kurta and pulled him towards her, without wasting a second she spoke "Tu mujhe bahaar karwaa raha hai... Mujhe!!! Mainu bhi rehana hai ithe andarrr..." She told this pointing finger at his heart... Baldev was a bit taken aback by the close proximity and sudden reaction of Veera.. Ignoring his surprise, he teased her, pointing his index finger at his heart... "Itthe rehana hai tujhe andarr!!! wohhh kya hai na mera dil toh bahut hi vadda hai lekin teri inni saari saheliyon ke baad tere liye jagah thodi na bachega..." He regretted his words the moment he saw a slight disappointment appearing on her face... He came back to his usual self and told, "Ab chal, main tujhe ghar chadd deta hoon, tu apni Veer se bataake aajayiyo... Mein tenu lene aavaanga..." Veera smiled hearing his words. She didn't know why, but she was happy that she is gonna stay at Baldev's place.
As promised, Baldev took her back to his house after taking permission from Ranvi. Baldev had talked to Ranvi, "Dekh Ranvi mainu pata hai tera ghar girvi pe hai aur kisi bhi waqat kuch bhi ho sakta hai... Veera di izzat ka sawaal hai iss liye socha hai mainu yeh idea..." Baldev did not know why he did it, but his instinct told him to protect Veera from any humiliation... He has the right to do anything to her, but he would never want to humiliate her or for that matter Ranvi infront of these sheharwaalas... Baldev continued,"Mere aur Veera ke beech jo dushmani hai who pind ke andar hai... Bas hamaari aapass ki baat hai... Tu mujhpe bharosa kar sakta hai... Main Veera nu nuksaan kabhi nahi pahunchaayega..." Ranvi knew if not friendship, Baldev atleast deserved his trust...
While driving back to his home, Baldev told Veera to stay in his room, "Tu mere bed pe so jaana..." Veera was startled to hear it from him... The thought of sleeping in his bed overwhelmed her mind.. Watching the confusion on her face Baldev continued, "Mera matlab hai, doosri ladkiyaan mere kamre mein rahenge toh unko mere gusse ki aadat nahi hoga na..." Veera shunned the thought of other girls in his bed... "Arrey nahi nahi main hi rahoongi tere bed pe... Mera matlab hai ki tere kamre mein... Warna gadbad ho sakti hai na..." She bit her tongue, she did not know why she is speaking way too much today... Baldev just smiled hearing her speak with so much authority, as if everything that belongs to him was her birth right!!!...
As the night approached, all of them set up a bon fire and sat in circle around the fire. Veera hurriedly went and sat near Baldev and made Karan sit on his other side. She had a victory smile on her face and it did not go unnoticed by Baldev... They all decided to play a game, they would start with a letter say "A" then all the members should tell a place, name or thing that comes to their mind at first without thinking... If you think you would be out...
Someone had suggested starting with "B" after lifting a chit from the bowl. Veera couldn't smile at her luck... B se "Baldev!!!", Badtameez, Baingan, Bhootni she was all smiles . Since first round was a trial Karan took a second to start, Karan told, "Bubble gum". Veera smiled, next it was Baldev's turn and she was damn sure he would say "Bhootni..." To Veera's shock Baldev told "Babli"... It pierced her like a dagger... Veera was in shock... Baldev slightly pulled her elbow, she turned and he could not read the emotion on her face... Veera bol, warna tu toh out ho jaayegi Baldev's words reached her ears... Veera whispered, "Main toh out ho gayi..." Telling this she got up and walked away. Baldev wanted to follow her, but he knew she needed some time alone and more over as a host he cannot ignore HER GUESTS!!!!
After a short game Veera's friends came back to check on her as suggested by him. Veera was sitting on HIS BED... With her knees pulled together and hands encircling her knees... She felt secure as if she is in his embrace... WHY??? Why she didn't think of Babli even once... How could be so sure that all would be the same??? Veera's friends asked her tera aur Baldev ka "FLAMES" kya hai??? Veera asked, "Ki...???" Friends, "As in Friends, Love, Angry, Marriage, Enemy, Sister???" Veera sighed a bit and then grabbed a paper and pen from his night stand, she scribbled their names and started striking the letters out. She prayed they should not be in "Sisterly" relationship... Her heart thumped whenever she came close to a letter. She was relieved when the final answer was F. Veera and Baldev Friends it was declared... Friends for Life... Forever.. she murmured... All her friends giggled and went out... Veera rolled her eyes at them... Veera suddenly checked another combo... Baldev and Babli... To her utter dismay even they turned out to be friends too...
Veera went downstairs and saw Baldev sitting in the lawn by the bon fire... She went and sat beside him... He could sense that she wanted to ask something... without looking at her he told, "Jo poochna hai pooch daal le, warna pett mein dard honi hai teri..." Veera pulled Baldev to her and asked "Bubble gum se Babli kyun???" Baldev rolled his eyes, totally confused... She repeated, "Bubble gum se Babli kaise yaad aa gayi..." Baldev replied with a smile... "Aise saaf saaf poochna... Bubble gum aur Bubbly dono mujhe bahut pasand hai... Dono mera weakness hai..." Veera felt bad still she continues, "Aur Bhootni... Mein... she almost said Mein in a whisper..." Suddenly it struck Baldev that she understood something else... Then he smiled and was about to clarify her doubt... Before that Veera asked "Tu aur Babli dost hai..." Baldev laughed a bit... "Haaannn... Nahi toh!!!!!" he teased her. Kyun poocha tune. Veera got up to leave with a smile... He caught her hand Bol "Kyun poocha tha???" Veera replied, "FLAMES daalke dekha tha maine...???" with that she retired to his room or rather HER ROOM from now on... She felt at home...
Baldev was confused what was the FLAMES of Veera. Karan told him "Aag ko kehte hai..." Baldev was not convinced, he repeated "FLAMES daalke dekhna kya hota hai???" Karan showed him the game and Baldev understood why Veera was upset. Baldev slowly crept into his room without any noise... He saw the scribbling of Veera. He took the paper and Veera suddenly saw him... He covered her mouth with his hand... Veera was embarrassed that Baldev saw her scribbling... How silly of her to leave it unattended??? Baldev cut the name of Babli from the paper and asked her mujhse kya parda!!!
Baldev made her sit on his bed. She looked perfectly fit there, as if she always belonged there. Baldev knelt down before her and cupped her face in his hand. Veera tu hi meri bubbly, shubbly, googly sab hai and smiling bhootni bhi... Veera smiled slowly. Tujhe pata hai tu hi meri friend hai, love hai, angry bhi main tujhse hi hota hoon, enemy bhi tu hai aur sister bhi ban jaa jab Gunjan Ranvi de paas chali jaayegi toh... Veera's eyes widened to know that he knew their relation and did not oppose. Then with a naughty smile Veera asked aur M??? Baldev took out a small thousands and millions donut from a small pack in his jacket... Inni raat ko koi ring nahi mila... Toh socha isse bada waala aur rang birangi ring kahaan milega... He slid the donut to her ring finger and asked kya tu mujhse shaadi karegi Veera Sampooran Singh... Iss vaddi ring ki tarah hamesha tera suraksha karoonga, aur hamaara rishta isse bhi zyaada meetha banaaoonga aur yeh jo rai jaise rang birangi cheezein hai inn par unse zyaada rang bhar doonga tere zindagi mein... Veera told Baldev among tears, "Who Raayi nahi hai thousands and millions hai..." Baldev haan thousands and millions se zyaada pyaar karoonga... Tears were rolling down Veera's cheek, Baldev tried wiping it with his thumb.. Veera didn't allow, she slowly leaned towards his shoulder and hugged him and whispered in his ear, behne de yeh khushi ke aarsoo hai... Baldev smiled, this seems perfect... He slowly smelled into her hair... Veera is his... Wohh uska flame hai... seene ki aag hai... Baldev and Veera remained like that for what seems like ages... Then they slowly came out of the hug and Baldev leaned forward and placed a soft kiss on her forehead... Veera blushed like a red tomato... Baldev smiled at that and slowly licked the sweetness of donut from her finger to tease her... With a wink he walked towards the window and he called out her name... "Veera wohh bubbly na sheharwaalonka drink tha... joh Karan ne mujhe ik baar pilaaya tha..." Veera smiled sheepishly at him...
Veera and Baldev was at peace as they have now discovered their spark and marked the beginning of a new journey...
