Sneha Wagh, much popular for her role in Jyoti has added one more feather to her cap as she essays the intense character of 'Ratan' in 'Ek Veer Ki Ardaas... Veera'. Post Jyoti, Sneha took a long break before she took up Veera. We get chatty with this actress who believes in learning new things. Excerpts:
What made you take up the character of Ratan in Veera even though your role will soon go for a leap?
I was waiting for a right role. And this role was something I couldn't miss out on " and yes I was prepared right from the beginning about its leap and I am completely comfortable with this concept. Ratan is very different character; it is amusing, intense and still natural. Any woman whose husband has cheated on her will behave in a snappy way. It is not exaggerated role but a layered character, who wants her son to grow up as a good human being.
What kept you away from small screen post Jyoti?
Post Jyoti, I had to take a break because working for daily soaps is mentally, emotionally and physically taxing. I went to Britain to pursue a course in film-direction. It was a wonderful experience as I always wanted to know learn about filmmaking. And post that, I was waiting for something right to come my way. In the meanwhile, I participated in a dance reality show on a Marathi entertainment channel and won it too.
Have you changed over the years as an actor?
I think I change with every new character I take up. I completely get into the skin of the character. And after doing the film-making course, I think I have become more of a director's actor as now I can relate more to their point of views.
So do we see you donning the hat of director in near future?
I don't know when that will happen. Infact, I didn't take up film-making course to become a director " it was just out of sheer inclination to learn it that I took it up. Right now I am happy as an actor.
You've had a bad marriage and went through tough time then. What has kept you so strong?
There were times when I was too low and down during this tough phase. My family stood by me during my tough phase. And I thought if I am going through all this that is because I'm born to face it and there's surely some learning for me. And right now, I'm happily single. If a relationship has to happen it will happen. Currently I have no time for it.
And what do you do when you're not working?
As shootings drain me completely, I prefer catching up on my sleep. That apart, I watch a lot of movies and catch up with a few select non-industry friends. I also want to learn pottery in near future.
Do you have friends in the industry? I'm a person who keeps to myself. I do my shots and then leave the sets. Many think I'm snob, but this is the way I work. I think rather than friends, they are my colleagues. So I work with them, share a good rapport with them. But friendships are rare in glamworld. Friendship is when we are still in touch or catching up even after the project is over.
