Hey guys, back with some quick thoughts on the Tuesday June 14th epi. Overall I thought it was adorable and am still loving the freshness of the college setting and cute new leads!
  • Raja genuinely believes that poor people can be bought with money. I thought the whole way this was set up in childhood was stupidly flimsy - Badi Rani Ma and the piggybank tearing nonsense - but I do think it's a good basis for conflict now that they're grown up. Class prejudice is a thing in real life, and in Raja's case it has a very personal focus that is about to be re-tested. I'm in for that!
  • Everyone has new names! Raja never knew that Rani's real name was Gayatri, as far as I remember. Rani never knew that Raja is Rajveer. Jeevan renamed himself Jeeves and Bindu is called Lovey. All this to delay Rani from recognizing that the key players in her new environment or those same raj gharana kids she bossed around in childhood! It's smart but also really simplistic and I can imagine getting frustrated by the lack of recognition really quickly 😛
  • Rani's random comparisons of people to Kali Prasad Ji were a lot cuter when she was a kid. Now it's just a bit bizarre. How big is that dog now anyway, and how did she and Rajmata feed it when they could barely feed themselves?
  • Meenu is starstruck to meet Gayatri because she's the topper. I love that Rani has EARNED a reputation for herself for achieving excellence. Refreshing to see that.
  • Bindu reminding Raja of Rani as 'that maid who also cheated you in childhood' was totally unrealistic but I get that it was necessary.
  • Raja describing his dream girl is so adorable!! But buddy, I'll believe you want a girl to butt heads with you and walk by your side ONLY WHEN I SEE IT. It's beautiful dialogue but I predict that like most males leads Raja is not going to like the independence or feisty nature of his soulmate at all when he starts experiencing it.
  • OH MY GOD KAAL IS OLD. Which, of course, he would be, but my what a shame it is. I am a fan of Chetan and loved Kaal's look during the childhood sequence 😳 It's the same now but they've got rid of his facial scruff and give him less eyeliner so he doesn't look as intense. Also, the age difference between Chetan and Sartaj is really not convincing for father and son sooo yeah Kaal is styled as old but he doesn't look like the old dad he probably should look like. But wow, this means Kaal has survived 18 YEARS on the throne since killing Ranaji. Who would have thought the jungle man whose only vocabulary was his own name could manage that.
  • Raja calls Jeevan Kaal's "good beta." This is kind of hilarious when you think back to their childhood. Intellectually I understand that Raja became some kind of bad boy after being left in the hostel but...his heart's still good, while Jeevan's never was. So it's weird to hear that Jeevan is considered the good son!
  • It's interesting that Bindu is open about her love for Raja to his face. I loved how he was like "yeah, you'll never know what it's like" when she wonders how he behaves as a lover. She actually calls herself his girlfriend to the rest of the school, ouchhh. I can't get over the feeling that they should have been raised as cousins! But, they weren't. It's hard to see Swarna's daughter as a typical vamp, but the plot needs her this way and BRM made her this way, so it all sadly does make sense.
  • What is this precap!! Why is Raja fascinated with dancing with Rani! Why is Rani wearing her nightdress to the party! Why is everything so adorable! Bless and let it stay that way!
Thanks anyone who actually read that, sorry it got long 😳 😆 What did you think of the episode?

OH RIGHT after all that I didn't even say what I most wanted to, which is about the key Raja handed to Princess Devika of Wherever She is From. Yes, literally speaking it was just the key to the room that should have been Rani's. But what did it symbolise?!! Interesting possibilities but I have no real answer...Something to think about! 😃

Also forgot to mention the music. Does anyone know if all the themes they are using were used for RaGa too? I think they were, but I'm not 100% sure because I didn't watch closely before the introduction of young Rani. I *think* they introduced one of the instrumentals during childhood track and it wasn't there before, but most of them are the same as before. And as cute as they are, as much as they remind us that we are watching ETR...I wish we'd get new instrumentals. Since RaGa didn't have a proper happy endings, their music feels like it has an edge of doom under the happy hopeful notes, at least to me it does 😔

Thanks for your interesting posts.
I really like reading your thaughts. I started watching ETR2 after Eisha's entry.

I love the track. but I feel that Raja's personality is out of the period of 60s . You see all I remember about characters from that age (I watched a lot of 60s Indian movies) characters were innocent, flirty but in a cute way. I don't know how to explain it. I don't know English well. but if you saw movies of Shammi Kapoor you'll understand what I mean.

I love Sartaj, and Eisha. they set screen on fire. Sartaj looks different from the cute Priom of Begusarai. but he is likeable.

Eisha looks more beautiful in each scene. She suits the role..and I am proud of her.
