Chapter 42
Seeing Indravardens growing love for Gayatri over Subharna Rajamata has concerns she discusses with Ranaji in privacy of his study.
"Badi raj mata galat hein sahin Ranaji par unka mudda galat nahin tha.."
(Badi raj mata might have been in the wrong in her ways but she made a valid point.)
Is mehel ko ek waris chahiyeyaur raj dharam yey kehta hai ke aap ko dono raniyon ko barabar ka haq dena hoga aur agar aap yey nahin kar payege toh vakt aagayay hai ke aap Subharna ke bare mein soche.
(This family needs an heir and raj dharma states a king should be fair to each of his queens that means Subharna too if you cant then it is about time you thought about her. )
"Ham jante hai ke aap koshish kar rahe hai par agar aap use Gayatri ke barabar ka pyaar nahin de sakte toh shayad vakt aagayay hai ke aap use apne hise ki khushi loat ayey."
(I know you are trying but if you can't love her equally to Gayatri then its time you though about giving her a share of happiness which she deserves. )
The king wasn't sure what Rajmata was suggesting and that could be seen on her his face.
"Woh angrez ranaji, Mr Fitzgerald". (The Englishman Ranaji, Mr Fitzgerald) raj mata clarified but in the background Subharna who had heard the whole conversation is left distort at the nature of the conversation between the king and his mother. The crashing of procaine on the floor makes them aware of her presence. She had heard all and so had Gayatri who happened to be out in the corridor.
Turning to see Subharna both the King and Rajmata falling to a silence. It wasn't something she was supposed to hear but she had done. Her expression frozen for a moment it takes a moment for her to make sense of it in her mind. Was this really rajmata talking her mother in law who had seen her every step of the way from her very first walk into the mehel as a little girl to where she stood today. Above all she thought Rajmata understood her abviously not. Shaking a little in dispare of what was being said Subharna was every bit a queen even though her began to blead she wouldn't show it on her expression not just yet not without a fight.
Disgusted that Rajmata of all people would speak of such a thing when she knew what lengths Subharna had gone to be loved and loyal to the king all her life Subharnas words were fious aimed at the room where she was being discussed like some belonging by her mother in law. Where as Indravardens eyes were compassionate for Subharna raj mata just looked on.
Before the king could put an end to this Subharna was entitled to her say. Her reaction. As a queen she spoke and she was heard without lifting her eyes to either of her superiors did she speak but her words carried more depth more purity than anything Rajmata had spoken of prior that.
"Ham ek rajput ki rani hai.. Maharaj ke lava kisi aur ke hone ke sikar se pehle ham jauhar kabool karna pasand karenge"
(You forget that I am also the queen of a rajput I'd rather take self-immolation than consider anyone else other than the King.)
Her eyes glazed over in tears as she spoke the last of her words and stormed out of the room without a look towards Indravarden.
Sighing deeply at the nature of words echoed within this room Ranaji looks on angrily at his mother before leaving the room.
... Gayatri who from out in the corridor had witnessed all was careful to not be seen by the king as he walked out.
...
He found her in her quarters crying with her back against one of the walls of the room. Her eyes closed tightly the only thing Subharna could do was sob. How much more pain was she to endure?. She could here him ordering the guards to move out of the way he stormed into the room to see if she was okay and found her crying. When she came to see it was indeed him that stood before her now all she could do was plead for his understanding she put her hands together in front of him pleading him against whatever was being said in that room all the whilst tears continued to flow.
He was a man with a heart, despite what she may think he knew her well, he understood her devotion, her love, her faith, her dedication to him and he wasn't going to walk over it all. It saddened him to see that this lady had yet again been crushed. He held her folded palms stepped closer he wasn't going to let her go if that is not what she wished. In fact he wasn't going to let her go anyway she was his queen and would remain so!. His eyes compassionate, asking her not to plead with him for there was no need.
For the first time in years Subharna crashed into his chest still sobbing and he held her close to calm her, to comfort her. She had not been so close to him in years but how her heart felt like it was finally home.
Gayatri who had followed and witnessed all of this from a far shed a tear of her own as a lady as a wife she felt the heart ache subharna was going through.
...
An incident such as this left the king in a very compromised state of mind little did he know that he wasn't the only one who had been thinking about the situation.
In the middle of the night when Indravarden assumes that all in his raj mehel are asleep he sits in thought in his armchair in front of a book he had long stopped reading. Surprised by Gayatri asking for his time at this hour, he puts down the book to a side and invites her into the room. "Come in"
He asks her what brings her to him at this hour and if everything is okay. There is nothing wrong she says in fact it was just a matter that clouded her mind and maybe like her it wasn't letting him sleep either. Ranaji watched Gayatri walk over towards him choosing to perch on the floor by his chair on her knees she puts her hand over his lap and whilst he takes her hand within his as she looks up at him for a moment. As was natural to her she refrained from looking at him whilst she spoke. A sense of respect towards him as ever.
Hame lagta hai rajmata shahin hai ranaji.. Rani subharna ko apne hise ka pyaar unka hak milna chahiyey (I think Rajmata is right Ranaji, Rani Subharna deserves her share of happiness. )
Unaware that Gayatri was even aware of this he gave her words attention despite that.
He could see that it took her some effort to finish her words but he waited.
"Ham kuch vakt ke liyey mehel se chale jayeynge..ta ke woh aap ko waris de sake."
(I will leave the Mehel for some days so she can give birth to a heir.)
As soon as he made sense of what Gayatri was trying to say, Ranaji threw Gayatris hand from his lap and stood from his chair at once.
Did she know what she was saying!?
Turning away at once from her to keep composed he could not understand why she would suggest such a thing.
"Ek aur shabd nahin!" ("Not another word!") he warns her but that was just his love speaking. It was her husband speaking but he had to remember that he was a king too and he to do right by that.
"Aap kehte hai na ke ham mein sahas aur spashta ki kami hai toh aaj ham saas bhi kar rahe hai aur shashta bhi dikhare aur ham galat nahin hai."
("You say I lack confidence and boldness don't you well don't I have decided to be both but I am not wrong.")
Gayatri had left the king with her decision to leave come morning and she would return on the arrival of a child to the palace. All this leaving a very stunned Indravarden furious.
...
Come next morning Gayatri acted on her words when all assumed that she was probably off to visit her parents for a few days only Ranaji was aware of what was going on in Gayatris mind but she seemed to have made up her mind and he in turn was angry at her for being adamant on this type of thing without a second thought.
Gayatri knowing that she would not see the Mehel for some time now or Ranaji for that matter wishes to see him one last time. As she approaches him in his room he is in front of his newspaper he very well knows the reality of the situation but despises Gayatris irrational behaviour his coldness towards her apparent in his ignorance.
As Gayatri attempts to take his blessing and say her goodbye he simply ignores her, she leaves a little saddened by his coldness but also has faith in him to see her reasoning with good time.
Not reacting in the slightest until Gayatri leaves the chamber Ranaji throws his
paper across the room angrily once in privacy.
She would see sense soon enough and if she didn't then she could stay in the hell hole she called home for the rest of her life screamed his ego and pride in his head.!!!!
...
His bitterness was his love, his anger was his expression of wanting her before his eyes knowing that she wasn't suffering by herself with this silly idea she had drummed up and as nearly two weeks passed and Gayatri still had not returned to mehel the kings fury only got more stringent. Because even though he pretended like it didn't matter it did.
He had a right mind to leave her be till she saw sense herself but the raj parivar were slowly beginning to question Gayatris return and Indravarden although he would not admit it missed her equally as much as he was angry at her decision.
..
It was a heavily sunny afternoon among the village fields as Gayatri walked home with Naveli and Gopal on the dusty path a car from the mehel stopped on the side of the road. The passenger seat was empty but the driver was non other than Ranajis loyalist Ramsingh. As Ramsingh got out of the car Gayatri greeted him and did he her.
Kya Rana sahib ne aap ko behja hai..?(Has the king sent you..)
Nahin raniji ..ham khud ayey hai.. ("No I am her on my own accord) replied the elderly man whom seemed to only be here out of concern for his king")
"Aap se darkwas kar ne kiyey ke aap mehel loat ayey ..
Hukum aap ke bina adhure hai, koi aur samje na samje hamne hamara jeevan unki seva mein bitayay hai ham une samaj te hai." (I've come here to request you to retrun to the palace. The king is incomplete without you, no one else may understand him but I have spent my life serving him. I do.)
Aap mehel loat ayey.. (I plead you return to the mehel my queen.)
Gayatri had the up most respect for Ramsingh and his devotion to the king and his kingdom but this wasn't so simple.
"Nahin Ramsingh..ham nahin ayeyenge, aap mehel laut jayey.."
Ramsingh did not know what it was between the king and queen that had bought them to this but all he could do was express his concerns and act upon Gayatris orders to return back to the mehel.
...
Next chapter
Indravardens anger had calmed with time as was natural to him, he forgave Gayatri in his heart for making the decision she had and leaving the mehel after thinking that it was her innocence that had acted, her good nature she was naieve. He would go to Seth govinds himself to bring her back, he would explain his point of view and she would see sense.
Although Ranaji had hoped for one outcome he encountered a very different one when he arrived at Gayatris home. A refusal to return to the mehel and and her pledge of only returning post the arrival of Subharnas child was still resolute.

RaGa are true soulmates, though Gayatri is young she is mature for her age, she understood the pain Subharna is going and left the palace so that Ranaji can be with his elder Queen.Waiting for the next update, please continue soon.
