Nandy, for you- since I forgot to elaborate on RaGa in my Cheetah drooling. 😆.
Ranaji might have a thousand reasons as to why he cannot make her the queen or even have clash of ideals...or misunderstandings...but he cannot have her going away from him. He may not sing a dewana mastana number...but the fact is, his feelings for her are way beyond what he imagines it to be. Even beyond burning his hands...as he says, his heart is suffering, the physical pain matters not.
He stood so close to her, showed anger... because that is his right...as her husband. He does not fora second consider him as anything but that, even if he has to entertain Sulakshna as the queen and his first wife. If he had a choice or a worthy successor he could have given up the throne and walked away with Gayatri...but right now, he is still hoping to come out of this with minimal collateral damage. His faith in the Sulakshna he knew once makes him hope, perhaps. He must be hoping she'd come around with time..it is that time he requests from Gayatri.
It hurts him to see her hurt...and he feels helpless with his hands tied...but he cannot let go of her at any cost. Humne unse pyar karna hi nahi, pyar nibhaana bhi seekha...He is taking baby steps in that direction...what he felt for Sulakshna was love- but it was not of the spiritual kind..most of his memories about her is of the physical relationship they had...with Gayatri, it is about the tears that won his heart. Every single fb he has, is of how their relationship slowly progressed...the little moments that have become so precious for him.
Ranaji is being very selfish...he is hurting her more in the process... ideally he should let her choose what she wants...since he does not have a choice. But he cannot think of letting her go now...he cannot bear this separation.
Him burning his hands...was not for her, but for him...a kind of cleansing act- would have loved it if he had done it with the fb of blessing Sulakshna as she touched his feet after the coronation- that was the right of a wife...which Sulakshna grabbed cunningly...something G could not bear to see.
He is still thinking of his own suffering- it is not that he doesn't see her tears...he doesn't know how much it hurts her. When Gayatri walked on the nails, it was for him...not for herself. A world of difference...this is why I said in the previous thread that RNJ has not given his agnipareeksha yet.
I feel the writing is still staying true to the characters...just that they should make it a point to maintain the continuity...there should have been a scene of RNJ checking on G and realising she has left the palace and him rushing to catch her before she leaves...the sequence started so abruptly. These little things make a lot of difference...😊
