Hello,
Thank you for the post, Sush, despite not caring for the episode much...and thank you for the exquisite collages, Shwets..splendid like always!
A few moments of magic cast such a strong spell that they swept away all other thought!
So, is it Sula? Is she back from the dead after all? Why did she pretend to die? What is her grouse against the royals?
All of these questions beg to be answered but for those few minutes, they ceased to matter. One of the most exquisitely and enchantingly picturised romantic sequences I've seen on desi TV! It was so sensual without even trying hard! No candles for the mood, no gust of wind blowing, no coy maidenly acts! It was just about a man and woman who were caught in the grip of a fierce desire and felt no shame in expressing it. It was still a game of one-upmanship, who affected whom the most? All praise to the creative team and the actors for conceiving and presenting such a beautiful moment!
I really, really liked Drashti's performance. She brought in the right bit of innocence to set off the coquetry. She has never been a shrinking violet, never feared to express her wants and desires. A woman who can write a letter to the King expressing her love for him , certainly no ordinary woman of her times! And a woman who consumed the erotica of her times! She is as old as Eve herself in her employment of womanly wiles. The context was already set with the dori scene. She saw for herself how she impacted him, how he fought for control! So she decided to flex her muscles a bit more, try and tempt her man with the few tricks she had probably read about. And for a woman who has exposed herself completely emotionally, what is physical vulnerability!
And boy, RNJ was turned on and how! From the minute he set eyes on her! The teasing glint in his eye, the way he responded to her innocent seduction and then, how he used his experience and expertise to turn the tables on her! RNJ is a bit like Sehwag, who got his three hundred with a six! Once he knows what he wants, there is no stopping him! Not that G appeared to want to 😆
Got to give it to the creatives and the actors for treating giving sensuality its due instead of resorting to the cheap gimmickry that we see on most desi shows!
Particularly the actors who did not resort to cliches and instead played it straight and honest! Full marks to them for that!
The sequence in the car was quite the contrast. It was all about the typical bickering of a couple. He was the king but for her, he was her husband! She felt no fear in taunting him mildly and teasing him out of his reserve! For his part, he indulged her because it delighted him to do so! He was a mere man before his wife, so what if the rest of the world called him a King! I would only like there to be no witnesses to these moments. It is not in keeping with his position or the times the story is set in. She can be as feisty as she wants in private but, when there is an audience of even one, there has to be that respect for the King!
So, whoever the black veiled lady is, and she is most likely Sula, is not interested in RNJ. Or rather he is her target! She wants to strip him of power! Attempting to kill G was merely a means to an end. The end was always the devastation of RNJ. Whatever did he do for her to feel that way?
This can become an intriguing game of political intrigue if they script it right! Not descend into petty melodrama and cat fights!
For now, I am intrigued. I hope I continue to be. Like I said even before, this cannot and should not be the tale of two wives!
