Hmm ... so, he thinks that the "magnet for trouble" is out to prove her "mettle" (couldn't resist that!). The question is, "Ranaji, to whom is she going to prove it? You are already impressed by her spunk."

Good work, Sarcy. I have to catch up on the rest of the drabbles. I do hope that you will continue them.

PS: Of course, it's my fault that I haven't visited for a long time. Stories can move so very quickly in tellyland. I will respond to the drabbles and, for the moment, refrain from commenting on the present state of affairs. So, some of my comments will seem irrelevant in light of the events over the past few weeks' episodes.

To me, RNJ always came across as a perceptive person on the show - right from Day 1. When his car was rigged, his insinuations in his conversations with Kunwar Chacha were well thought out and had substance to them. Which clearly showed that this wasn't a king who was oblivious to the nasty politics being played by his own family in a bid to take over the kingdom. The subsequent attacks on his life and the direction of his thoughts each time, only solidified this belief about his character. However, disappointingly so, when it came to G, he didn't come across so perceptive and was quick to assume the worst of her. Sid's expressions hinted at RNJ's perceptiveness in a couple of scenes, but RNJ never voiced out anything. Which I found disappointing - but I know that the makers clearly wanted that so that it would help build the mistrust and misunderstandings but I couldn't ignore it. Because while he didn't like her as she was the one to take Sona's place in his life, it didn't mean he was blind. If he didn't speak, it didn't mean he didn't see either! 😉 Hence why, the idea of these Drabbles was conceptualised. 😳

I hope you catch up with the rest of the Drabbles soon as I am waiting to hear your thoughts on them. And based on the comments from you and a couple of other readers, I'm considering resuming this. But that won't be possible until the week of 26th.

"If he didn't speak, it didn't mean that he didn't see either!" Bravo. Very well-written. And the very reason you should continue the drabbles.

I should be able to get back to the drabbles this weekend. I would like to reflect over them (and perhaps watch those episodes too!) before I comment. In the meantime, while you consider resuming these drabbles (and let me assure you that they are much needed!!), do keep a book and pen at hand to jot down ideas that may perchance strike you as you watch the series.😊

Writing a well-constructed piece, with flashes of the characterization seeping through, in less than 500 words, is a real challenge. Flash fictions are probably the most difficult type of fiction to write. You have to hint at so much, be so subtle, choose each word with such extreme care. And then hope that your readers are able to sift through the words and pick up on every emotion, every suggestion you left behind. You hit the mark with each and every piece.

Unlike others, I will not ask that you increase the length of each piece. I will hope however, that you continue to write and continue to share your art with us.

Thank you for a lovely read.

All the best,
Kat

Thanks, Kat, and welcome to the Drabbles! 😳

Yes, flash fictions are quite tough and this is the first time that I'm trying it out. So it's good to hear that it meets the expectations.

I'm glad to hear that you agree to my thoughts on the length of each piece. I usually enjoy writing detailed and picturesque descriptions, so keeping it short is something that I find a challenge. Which is also one of the reasons why I decided to try my hand at these drabbles.

Thank you. More updates to follow soon, HOPEFULLY!

~ Mesmerized ~

Oh, but I had never meant to mock his shooting skills. Dear God! The man had quite a way of jumping to conclusions. But then, could I really blame him if he didn't find anything amusing about the soldier's moustache? I grinned as my eyes fell on the said soldier's moustache again. Well, well, my royal husband seemed to have a temper and I needed to find a way to soothe it. His rebuke played through my mind and I couldn't help but smile. Ever the chivalrous gentleman, he had such a cute way of reprimanding, his tone oozing politeness. I hit my palm across my forehead as I realized how silly that would sound to someone were I to voice it aloud. The way I seemed to make allowances for Rana Indravadhan Singh Deo meant only one thing.

Rani Gayatri Devi, you are hopelessly in love with your dear husband.

I haven't watched the episode yet. But the thoughts that you ended the two different insights into the same event with are so evocative. One can almost picture them thinking their thoughts aloud and shaking their heads!

And, in Mesmerized, the paragraph reproduced above was brilliantly penned!

From what you have penned so far, it appears that you prefer to pen the King's thoughts. At times, a character really speaks to you and you find yourself mentally nodding in agreement. And here, the King does seem to be speaking to you.

But, in scenes such as these, it would be great if you could continue to provide us with insights into the minds of the King as well as his Queen. You don't need to do it for every scene, just a few in which the Queen speaks to you too.

The King has been the most misunderstood one right from the start! 😆 I always tried to see what he truly felt and may be, justify some of his actions. The Queen has been like an open book to the viewers. Anything and everything that she felt was out there for everyone to see. Whereas, the King was more of a private person.

So yes, the King speaks to me more often than the Queen, but will try and write from her perspective as well at times.

I haven't watched the show since the King left his Queen in the forest and from what I see on the forum, the past 9 episodes have taken the equation between the King and his Queen from one end to the other! Will try to catch up soon and also resume these drabbles.
