Chapter 27

On the way in the car to the airport, Sheena's each and every words were ringing into his ears. Those words were unknowingly pricked his old wounds, his fear of losing family. With every passing moment his doubts had grown in magnitude and the very thought of losing Kalpana frightened him to the core.

In the airport

Kalpana was waiting in the waiting area with her luggage. Hearing the announcement, "All the passengers of Canada, please come to Gate num. 123 as we are going to onboard you now," Taking her luggage in her hand Kalpana got off from the chair. Once she turned to go to the gate, she saw Raghav. They were standing face to face. Kalpana looked at Ragahv and as always he was looking at her with concerned filled eyes and in behind of that curtain of concern, she was able to see his true, selfless love for her in his eyes. Raghav looked down to the luggage Kalpana was holding and looked back at her. Please don't look at me like this or it will be difficult for me to leave, Kalpana said in her mind, why do you love me so much? Why don't you understand you are loving a person jo kuch dino ka mehman hain. She has nothing left to give you except pain. She was having problem to control her tears. She didn't want to cry or be weak at that moment. I knew one day you have to leave me but it would be this way I never thought, Ragahv said in his mind, jo mere Andheri gindegi mey roshni lekar aya hai, jo mujhey phir se pyaar karna sikhaya hai, jo mere jeeney ka bajay ban gaya hai, breaking all the promises she had toward me is leaving. He tried hard to control his emotions. Taking a deep breathe, Raghav said, "Don't worry, I will not stop you from going. When you already decided to leave me I will not say anything. I always respected your decision and this time I will also do the same." after a little pause he continued, "One thing I got to know from my own experience that whoever wants to go let them go as I am not that worthy to stop her or him. I just want to say wherever you go..." his voice started breaking along with his heart. After a little pause he completed, "...be happy. My best wishes are always with you." Though he was saying this but his eyes were saying something else and it was clearly visible in his eyes. Saying so Ragahv took a step back. As they turned to leave tears were flowing down from their eyes. Raghav stepped out of the airport, while Kalpana stepped into the plane.

As Ragahv entered into his house, all the flashes of their memories started roaming in front of his eyes. Early in the morning he was so happy. Within an hour his whole world crashed down. All his dreams, hopes, life, love, heart got break down or shattered into many pieces. Though his tears dried up but his heart was bleeding badly deep down. He was very hurt. Placing the divorce paper on the center table he came down to the basement. He walked to the shelf where wines, champagne were kept. Caressing his fingers on bottles, he said, "Every one left me. Bass tu hi mera sahara banke rahe gaya."

Sitting on the couch with a glass of champagne in his hand, Ragahv mumbled to himself, "Is that so easy to remove someone from heart? If it is then...," he stopped. Placing his hand on his left chest, he completed, "why so much pain here?" He leaned back with his eyes closed. He didn't know how long he was sitting like this in the dark bedroom. Hearing footsteps coming toward his room, he slowly opened his eyes. "Kaun." When he didn't hear anything he stood up. He could see someone standing at the door but it was not clear. As the person turned on the light Ragahv closed his eyes. Ragahv slowly opened his eyes to see the person. He saw Kalpana standing at the door. He rubbed his eyes with his hands and looked back to the front. Seeing Kalpana in front of him, he became so emotional. He met her eyes with sad eyes. His eyes were puffy. Seeing Ragahv in that state, her heart skipped. Though Ragahv was drunk but he was in his sense. "Shall I say something?" Raghav said. Kalpana nodded her head slowly. Raghav continued, "Am I that bad that I can't deserve to be happy with the person I loved in my life?" After a little pause he added, "I tried a lot to stay away from all this but is dil ka kya karey. It keeps falling." Raghav was in so much pain and his pain was killing her. Wiping her tears, she slowly walked toward him and said, "Aap bohot achchey ho. You are the best person I have ever met. For some reason if we stay away, your selfless love pulled us toward you. And no one can stay away from you for a long time." Both had an intense eye lock for a moment. After a little pause she said, "Shall I say something?" Ragahv nodded his head slowly. She took the divorce paper laying on the center table and ripped into four pieces and said, "One thing I got to know from my own experience that stay with the person who loved you the most and face any obstacle in life along with him." They were staring at each other. Kalpana wanted to say more but she felt loss of words to express what she had in her heart for him, what she was thinking, what she wanted to say. There was a mysterious silence in the room for a moment. She came closer and sealed the distance between them. She kissed his lips gently and poured all her desires, her feelings, her selfless love, her longing for him and also made him realize that he did understand her unsaid words. As she broke the kiss, Ragahv opened his eyes slowly. Then Kalpana walked to the Almirah. She took out one pair of sleeping suit and came back to Ragahv. Handing over his suit, she said, "Go and change it." Then Kalpana went to the wash room to change hers. Five minutes later Kalpana came out of the washroom. Taking the pillow from the couch, she walked to the bed. Placing it on the bed beside her pillow, she said, "You must be tired. I am also tired. Let's sleep." Kalpana laid down on the bed. Then Ragahv laid down beside her.

Three hours later Kalpana's sleep got distracted for some reason. Once she opened her eyes, her eyes fell on Raghav who was just looking at her while laying beside her, with a smile on his face. "You didn't sleep?" Kalpana asked. "No," Ragahv said and added, "I was just waiting for you to wake up." Both had an intense eye lock. "Kalpana," Raghav said. "Hm," Kalpana replied.

Rag: I want to show you something. Will you go with me?

Kal: haa

It was 5 AM

Taking Kalpana with him, Ragahv drove off to the site. After 40 minutes of driving, they reached there. They got off from the car. They were standing in front of a multistoried building. "Raghav ji, why are we her...?" Kalpana stopped as her eyes fell on the gate where Kalpana Anath Ashram' was written on a signboard hanging on the gate. Her eyes filled with joyful tears as she could see her dream come true and Raghav helped her as always. She looked at Raghav who was already looking at her with a smile on his face. "Ragahv ji, did you still remember that?" Raghav noded his head and said, "Kalpana, do you remember, one day you brought a 6/7 years old girl who was begging for money in the street?"

Kal: hm. Then I requested Mrs. Maria to keep the girl in the orphanage

Rag: that day you became so emotional seeing those orphan kids.

Kal: hm. And I wished if I could do something for those kids.

Rag: At that time I made up my mind to fulfill your wish.

Holding her hand he said, "Come lets get in." once Kalpana got into the gate she was surprised seeing park, swimming pool, playground in there for the kids. "Besides the basic needs, I wanted to give the children all other facilities that every children deserve," hearing Ragahv, Kalpana looked at him. Looking at her, he asked, "Happy?" "Bohot," Kalpana replied.

Ragahv took Kalpana to the terrace. They saw sunrise together, sitting side by side.

Kal: Raghav ji, thank you. I cant express myself how happy I am today.

Raghav smiled and said, "tum khush ho isiliye mai bhi khush hoon." After remembering something, Kalpana said, "Raghav ji, so far I know you were after this land for a long time as you wanted to build a motel."

Rag: haa but this was more important than a motel.

Kal: you fulfilled my dream leaving your dream aside. You always think about my happiness and what I did in return?

Kalpana's eyes filled with water in guilt. Tapping his palm on her hand, he said softly, "It's ok. bhul jao jo kal hua. Humey aj main jina hain." Placing her head on his shoulder, Kalpana said, "I was getting into the plane but it was only my lifeless body, my soul was somewhere else. When plane was about to take off, only one thing was ringing into my ears that how my body will survive without a soul." Hearing her, Ragahv wrapped his hand around her shoulder as he wanted to assure her, she was, where she wanted to be. They were sitting there until it got bright.

Ragahv took Kalpana to show inside the building. While showing rooms, Ragahv said, "this building is accommodated with 5000 kids. Those Kids whoever have lost their parents to various causes and those kids whose parents can't fulfill their basic needs and sent them out in the streets to beg for money will be staying here in this orphanage. They will receive all the facilities along with the basic needs. The children will stay here in the most loving and caring atmosphere. They will be here till they become independent." Kalpana noticed that all the rooms were empty and unpainted. "Kalpana I left it on you," Raghav said and added, "I want you to choose the paint for each room and decorate the room the way you want." Kalpana smiled and said, "Thank you for giving me this responsibilities." Two hours later Kalpana dropped off Kalpana at home and he went back to office to complete some office work.

It was 8 PM

Raghav reached his bed room unbuttoning his shirt. He was wearing this clothes.

His hand paused from unbuttoning his shirt as his eyes fell on the decorated room with candles. He looked down and saw Kalpana was lighting a candle sitting on the floor. Kalpana was looking beautiful in this saree along with red bindi on her forehead.

Kalpana was totally unaware of his presence. All of a sudden wind came through the window and was about to blow out the candle in the mean time Ragahv came and covered it with his hand along with Kalpana. Once their hands touched, Kalpana looked at Raghav, Raghav looked at her. He noticed her mesmerizing features that looked even more breathtaking in that light. He was lost in her big black doe eyes that looked helpless and stuck. Kalpana smiled and stood up. Raghav stood up. Looking at him, Kalpana said, "Ragahv ji, you were always there for me when I needed someone. You never gave me a chance to cry, pampered me like a queen, and cared me like a father, you stood by my side when I needed a mentor and helped me to boost my confidence, fight for the right and the wrong and to achieve my goals on my own merits rather than being highly dependent on anyone, you supported me as a true friend. Now as long as I live I would like to stay only as your wife." There was sincerity in her voice. Allowing her to continue he stood looking at her silent. Taking his hand in her, Kalpana said, "Raghav ji, I want that golden night that every woman expects from her husband after marriage." She looked down at his hand. Holding it with her, Kalpana started walking toward the bed slowly. Ragahv was just looking at her while walking with her. Kalpana sat on the bed. Ragahv sat beside her. She laid down leaving space for Ragahv beside her. Then Raghav laid down beside her. They laid flat on their back facing ceiling. With this there was a complete silence only the sound of their heartbeat was playing the role of their voice. As he turned to look at Kalpana, she closed her eyes with pure desire...

That night was long and indeed beautiful. Three hours later, Kalpana's sleep got distracted due to the cold coming in through the window. Pulling the bedsheet, she covered her naked body and got off from the bed. She walked to the window. She looked at the sky. Seeing the full moon, she smiled. Then she looked back at Ragahv who was sleeping peacefully. Looking at him, she whispered, "Thank you for completing me."
