Chapter 23

Kalpana made a phone call and talked to someone to tell him to meet her in an hour at XYZ place. She then left the house.

Singhania Constructions

Raghav was working on a project and he had some questions so decided to call Sammy who was outside. He then put his hand in his blazer's pocket to get the phone. The cell phone wasn't there but his hand felt something inside the pocket. He then took that thing out of the pocket. He saw it was an earing. He brought it in front of his eyes and said, "What is this earing doing in my pocket?" Then he remembered...

Flashback

When he got to know about Ria and was very upset. He went to the farm house to spend time alone. He spent the night over there. The very next day, Ramesh the care taker of the farm house came to Raghav's office and said, "Sir, I found this earing on your bed," he added, "I thought this was very valuable so I came in person to hand it over." Saying so care taker handed the earing over to Raghav. Without wasting any time he just put it in the pocket of the same blazer he was wearing now. (Flashback end)

And after that this was the first time he wore the same blazer. Raghav thought, whose earing is this? Looks like Kalpana would wear this type of earing. Then he decided to ask Kalpana.

On the other hand, Kalpana was waiting for the person she called. She came to meet in the caf. The person came and said, "Kalpana, what was so urgent that you wanted to meet me?" "Thank you," Kalpana said with a smile, "Thank you for coming Akash ji." Then Akash took a chair in front of her and sat. Kalpana was hesitating to talk to Akash. Seeing her hesitating, Akash asked, "What is the matter Kalpana?" "Please tell me." Then Kalpana said, "Akash ji, I don't know how to start or what you will react after hearing me." "But, I just came here to know if you are still agreeing me to marry." Hearing Kalpana, he was just in awe. He couldn't just believe his ears of what he just heard. "Kalpana, you are asking me if I am still agreeing to marry you." Kalpana nodded. "Of course Kalpana." Akash said very happy, "It was me, who brought a proposal for you." Hearing him Kalpana said, "I am sorry, actually I was not prepared for the marriage at that time but now I am ready to marry you." She added, "But I have a request, is it possible to do it in this week as I want it very simple way so that you don't need to do any arrangement." "In five days?" Akash asked. "Yes, please." Kalpana pleaded. "Okay, no problem, anything for you." Kalpana thanked him and decided to tell about Raghav and Aarav. Kalpana said, "Akask ji, "Before marriage, I want to tell you something about my past." She added, "I got intimate with someone accidentally and got pregnant and my son is now one year old." "Will you accept me with my past?" Hearing Kalpana Akash said, "Kalpana, you are very honest, you could hide it but didn't," "Now I will respect you more than before," "I don't have any problem with your past; even If you want to keep your child with you then I would not have any problem." Hearing Akash Kalpana said with a smile, "Thank you Akash ji," "I promise, I will not bring my past in front of our married life and I will try to be a good wife and good daughter in law."

Singhania Mansion

Raghav entered into the house and started searching for Kalpana. She was not around so then he went to Kalpana's room. Kalpana was not in her room as well so then he decided to check her jewelry box to see if it is hers. He opened her cupboard and saw a jewelry box. Then he opened it and found the other one and said, "So, I was right, it is Kalpana's earing." Then he thought, but I don't understand what her earing was doing on my bed? I know Kalpana was there, but how did it end up on my bed? Did she sleep on my bed so that it got off from her ear? "Oh god, what am I thinking?" Raghav said, "Why she will sleep on my bed?" "I was the one who was sleeping there." "She must have gone home after talking to me over there." But somehow he was not pleased with his answer.

In the meantime Kalpana entered into the house with a heavy heart as she will be leaving this house soon forever. She will be leaving the two most important people in her life, her love and her son. She went to Aarav's room and took him in her arm and kissed him on his forehead and started crying. Hearing her crying Raghav ran toward her and asked her with concern, "Kalpana, what is the matter?" Kalpana then hugged him tightly as she doesn't want to leave both of them for a sec. As if whatever happens let it be, but she would not leave Raghav and Aarav. Seeing her nonstop crying Raghav put Aarav on his crib and took Kalpana to his room and made her sit on the bed and he sat next to her. They were still in the hugging position. Raghav was tensed as of all of a sudden she was crying. She was not saying anything but kept crying. He then decided to talk to her in the morning. He laid Kalpana on the bed and he laid besides her embracing.

Raghav woke up in the morning and didn't see Kalpana beside him. He then got off from the bed and went to Kalpana's room directly and seeing her so normal and calm he was so confused and asked her, "Kalpana, why were you crying, what was the matter?" Hearing him, Kalpana thought, I can't be so upset or he will get to know the truth soon. "Actually, Raghav ji, there was a car accident where husband and child were dead on the spot and seeing that accident I was imagining you and Aarav instead of them and was so scared. Hearing her, Raghav said hugging Kalpana, "Oh god, you scared me so much." Raghav kissed Kalpana's forehead and said, "Be ready sharp 7, we will go for the dinner." And he left from there. Kalpana said in her mind, I am sorry Raghav ji, I lied .

Singhania Constructions

Raghav was in his cabin and thinking about Kalpana as nowadays as he was noticing her very quiet, sometimes she cries taking Aarav in her arm. He then brought Kalpana's picture she took for the admission of her university from the phone and started talking in his mind rubbing his thumb on her picture, Kalpana, what is bothering you? Please share it with me as I can clearly see it in your eyes. He was thinking but all of a sudden his finger stopped on the same earing in her picture as the one he got in his pocket. Seeing the earing his mind again started questioning, how did it end up on his bed. Seeing my condition did Kalpana stay over with me in the farmhouse? After that night Kalpana didn't show me her face. She left Mumbai forever. After that night why she had to leave? She never told me the reason of her leaving my house. Did anything happen in the farmhouse that she had to leave? Why am I feeling that there is some connection with the farmhouse and her leaving Mumbai? What happened in the farmhouse? Then he tried to remember and after a while said with frustration, "I can't remember everything as I was drunk." Then he closed his eyes and tried to recollect again. Ok, first, I was drinking then Kalpana came and tried to stop me from drinking, then I was talking about Ria and Kalpana became emotional, then she hugged me saying she is always there for me and she will never leave me. Hearing her I became emotional and I hugged her back as if I felt peace in her arm and wanted to be in her arms forever and didn't want to leave her, then I brought her more closer to me then...then... kiss?...

He opened his eyes within a second and started breathing heavily. He got off from his chair and stood next to the window and said softly with guilt, "Did we have anything after that kiss in between us so that she felt guilty because I was someone else's husband and in the very next day she decided to leave without showing her face." "I don't remember what happened after that kiss but I still can remember that when I woke up I saw myself naked. And the very next thought came in his mind, as per Aarav's birthday, Kalpana conceived around the time when she was in my house. Besides me Kalpana didn't even know anyone in Mumbai. She is a very descent girl and she would not sleep with any random guy. It means am I the person who made her pregn...

He couldn't finish his sentence and put his fingers into his hair with guilt and switched his place to his chair again. He thought those flashes I kept getting after that day was with Kalpana? That's why those closeness or intimacy with Kalpana seems familiar?

He thought something and immediately make a phone call to the care taker Ramesh of his farmhouse, but call didn't go through so he made another call to another care taker who is currently working, "Hello, do you know when Ramesh is coming back from his village as I been keep trying his number but was not going through?" hearing Raghav the care taker replied, "Sir, there are always network problems in the village that's why your call didn't go through." He added, "Sir Ramesh is coming next week." "Okay, tell him to meet me once he comes back." Raghav cut the call and said, "I need to confirm with Ramesh about Kalpana that when he saw her leaving the farmhouse." "Was it at night or in the morning?" "I need to confirm with him first then will talk to Kalpana as I know she will not tell me anything if I ask her now." He then thought, Kalpana if it is true then why are you feeling as guilty as I am also responsible for this equally. If it is true then how I should be reacting? Should I be happy that I am Aarav's biological father as god listened to me for I was yearning for years, or guilty as how Kalpana went through all those pains and got abused from the villagers and suffered a lot to save my child?...

Kalpana was still awake as she was thinking about Raghav and Aarav, will I be able to live without you. I have only two more days left in this house. She got off from her bed wiping her tears. She then went to Aarav's room and kissed on his forehead saying, "I will miss you meri bachchi." Then she went to Raghav's room and saw him sleeping peacefully. Then she sat on his bed and was looking at him caressing his face. Feeling someone's touch on his face Raghav opened his eyes slowly and saw Kalpana. She was about to go but stopped when he held her hand. Kalpana looked back and Raghav said with a soft smile, "Missing me?" Kalpana smiled and nodded. "Come, sleep here." Raghav said showing his side. Kalpana couldn't resist sleeping in his arms as his arms are the most peaceful place in the world. Both slept in each other's arm peacefully.

The next day Kalpana was feeling bad as she was going to break Raghav's heart today badly. How will she be able to see him with a broken heart? She kept chanting sorry' in her mind. She cried the whole day. In the evening Akash's parents came with shogun. They were discussing with Kalpana how and where this marriage will take place. In the meantime Raghav entered into the house and got a little confused seeing Akash and his parents in the house. Only Akash's father noticed Raghav and said with a smile, "Come Mr. Singhania." He added, "We been waiting for you," "We came here with shogun for Kalpana." Raghav did still not understand what was happening until Akash's dad said, "We already discussed with Kalpana that how and where Kalpana's and Akash's marriage will take place." Hearing him the only sound came from Raghav's mouth, "Marriage?" then the next word, "Akash's and Kalpana's?" Then Raghav looked at Kalpana with a shower of questions. She could feel his strong gaze on her as she lowered her eyes but didn't dare to look into his eyes. Then Raghav looked back at Akash's father saying, "Okay, Mr. Singhania, we are leaving now," he added, "See you tomorrow at the Mandap." Akash's family left the house leaving Raghav dumbstruck.

"What is all this Kalpana?" Raghav said confused. No Answer. Kalpana was still standing with her head down. Hearing no answer Raghav walked to Kalpana and shouted shaking her shoulder, "I am asking you something, answer me!" Kalpana was all prepared for this situation that one day she has to face Raghav for this. Kalpana then looked at Raghav and said taking all the courage, "Whatever you heard from Akash's dad was...was true," She added, "Yes I...I... and A...Aka...kash are getting ma...ma...rried tomorrow." Hearing Kalpana, Raghav's heart broke into thousand pieces. He still couldn't believe what he just heard as how Kalpana could do this to him. Then he said, "Kalpana just tell me it is nothing but just a joke." Kalpana said with teary eyes, "Raghav ji, I wish it could be a joke." Raghav then cupped her face and said with concerned, "Please tell me, why are you taking this step as I remembered you refused the same proposal before," "Is there anything that is bothering you?" "Please don't hide as I am expecting you to tell me for the first time." Kalpana removed Raghav's hand from her face and turned around and said, "I am not going to change my decision." Raghav whirled Kalpana to face him and shouted, "You love me then how can you marry Akash?" he added "You don't love Akash then why are you marring him?" "It is not necessary to marry the only person you love," Kalpana said. "This is true that I don't love Akash but after our marriage I will start loving him." Hearing her Raghav who was angrily staring her, his jaws clenched his closest fist; his eyes literally throwing daggers to her and said holding her arm tightly, "How dare you to give my right to someone else?" "How dare you?" He yelled and said, "Jo mera hain, main usey kisiko nahi dungi." "And I mean it." Saying so he dialed Akash's number to cancel this marriage. "May I talk to Akash?" Raghav said on the phone. "Yes, speaking." Akash said on the other side. Kalpana then snatched the phone from Raghav and cut the call and said, "If you try to make any problem in this marriage then aapko meri kasam," "I will kill myself." Hearing this tears were uncontrollable and he began sobbing while his heart screamed out as no. He then pulled Kalpana into a tight hug and said, "Please take your words back," "I can't live without you." Kalpana was also hurt betraying him. She was also crying her heart out seeing him in this state. "I am sorry Raghav ji for hurting you but I have no other option." Kalpana said hugging him back. They don't know how long they were like this.

Raghav was not ready to lose Kalpana. He checked all her phone calls to get any clue so that he will be able to find out the reason of her agreeing for this marriage. He knew she would hide something she will not share with him if is anything related to him. She will suffer alone but will not involve him.

He only found one outgoing call to Akash besides his calls. Then he spoke to Akash to make sure there was no force from Akash's side to marry Kalpana. Raghav was so frustrated that he couldn't find any clue. He then went to Kalpana's room in her absence. He checked her cupboard then drawers and he found an empty envelop at Kalpana's name (The same envelope Ria's dad sent with those accident pictures in it. Kalpana burned all the pictures and letter but forgot to throw the envelope). Seeing the envelop Raghav thought, what was in the envelope? Who sent this to directly Kalpana's name? All her letters from her college come directly to my name and c/o her name. He then checked where it came from but there were no address. He also noticed that the letter was sent with registry and was registered around the place where Ria leaves. Then he had a doubt and decided to confront Ria.

Raghav went to Ria's place and shouted showing the empty envelope, "Did you think doing this cheap play, you will be able to apart mine and Kalpana's relation?" Hearing him Ria was shocked and said with confused, "Raghav, I really don't understand, what are you talking about?" "Ria, you are the only person who think will be benefitted if Kalpana and I leave each other." Raghav said, "Kalpana and I love each other and are going to marry once I get divorce from you." "You told your lawyer that you are going to divorce me soon so that whatever you will do you will not be caught." Ria said, "Relaxed Raghav, I know you both love each other that's why I have decided to divorce you as soon as possible and left this country forever." She added, "Please trust me Raghav, I didn't send this letter to Kalpana," "If you want, I can talk to Kalpana." Without saying anything Raghav left from there leaving Ria dumbstruck.

Raghav tried to talk to Kalpana at night but she locked herself in her room as she couldn't see him all broken. Seeing him in that state she thought she might change her decision and she will be the only one responsible for Raghav's upcoming situation.

The night was not only difficult for Kalpana but Raghav as he couldn't let her go with someone else's. Raghav was crying and thinking about their beautiful moments they spent, their confession, his unforgettable birthday Kalpana prepared, their closeness, their first kiss, their unconditionally love and care for each other.

The next day Kalpana wore a red and golden lahenga. While wearing she was thinking as how Raghav wanted to see her as his dulhaan. A tear escaped from her eyes. She put chudian in her hand and thought, Raghav ji likes this chudian so much. She then put bindi and thought, He likes this round bindi. And a small smile appeared on her face. She wore everything as per Raghav's like. For a while she forgot that she was actually getting ready for Akash but not Raghav.

Now it was the most heart breaking moments for both Raghav and Kalpana as they are going to be apart from each other forever. After getting ready Kalpana went to Raghav's room to bid a bye. As soon as she entered into his room all the memories refreshed onto her eyes. How much time she spent with Raghav in this room. They spent night in each other's arms on this bed. She thought, the time I spent with you were the most memorable days of my life and they will always be with me. I will always keep loving you Raghav ji even though we stay apart. Then she noticed his room was all messed up. Some glass pieces were on the floor. She understood how hurt he was. She then slowly walked toward Raghav who was facing the window. Her heart was beating very fast while walking near him. Raghav could feel her presence. Kalpana stood behind Raghav and said wiping her tears, "Raghav ji, I am leaving," "If possible, please forgive me because it will be very hard for me to live with your hatred." Saying so she bowed her head and touched his feet to take his ashirwad from his behind because he was still facing the window as he can't see her leaving. He closed his eyes feeling her touch on his feet. His hand was bleeding cut by a piece of glass and was dripping on Kalpana's maang unknowingly while taking ashirwad.

Kalpana then started walking toward the door slowly. Both Raghav and Kalpana had an urge to see each other for the last time and they turned to face each other at the same time. Seeing them for the last time both of their tears were uncontrollable and they began sobbing quietly while their heart screamed out each other's name bitterly. Kalpana saw Raghav was shaking his head in no as he doesn't want her to leave. Kalpana couldn't resist jumping into his arm. She sobbed while hugging him tight and gripping his shirt tightly while Raghav was giving small kisses on her head hugging her to close to his heart so that she can hear his heartbeat as his heartbeat said, please listen to me once. I want you in my life and I can't let you go. Why don't you want to stay with me when you love me?

At the Mandap

Kalpana sat on the mandap crying silently under her dupatta. Akash's father tied the knot and the priest began the rituals. Both Kalpana and Akash stood and were ready to walk around the fire. Guests were throwing flowers on them. Kalpana was walking forcefully. As she walked all flashes of their memories again start roaming in front of her eyes. "How can I give Raghav ji's right to someone else?" The only sentence came out from her mouth and became senseless...

Two days later

After Kalpana left he came home after two days as he was very disturbed. Now he has only Aarav to live for. He saw care taker Ramesh waiting for him. "Sir," Ramesh asked, "You wanted me to meet you urgently?" Hearing him Raghav remembered what he wanted to ask and it was important to know. Then he said, "Yah, Ramesh." He added, "You remember Kalpana mam came to the farm house when I stayed over the night right?" "Yes sir." Ramesh said. "Then do you remember when she left the farmhouse?" "Was it morning or night?" Ramesh then thought and said, "Morning sir." "Are you sure?" Raghav asked him again. "I am sure sir." Ramesh added, "Before she left she told me to take care of you as you were not feeling well." "It means she spent the night with me." Raghav whispered.

He kept chanting the same sentence while going to his room. His thinking was disturbed when a maid came and said handed him over a letter, "Sir, Kalpana mam told me to give you this letter before leaving. Raghav took the letter and started reading...

Raghav ji,

Please forgive me for what I am going to tell you. I want to confess something. We spent that night in the farmhouse as you were very disturbed and I couldn't leave you alone in that state. After that night I was feeling very guilty as I was thinking I was the only one who was responsible for that. That's why I left you and your house. Then I became pregnant. Yes Aarav is your son. You are Aarav's biological father. Please forgive me for hiding this truth from you for a long time.

Raghav then went to Aarav's room and took him in his arms and kissed him softly on his forehead and said, "One angel came into your papa's life and poured all the love and happiness and before leaving gave the most beautiful gift."

A week later Raghav got to know about Ria's dad's blackmailing against Kalpana through Ria. She also informed that the accident was totally fake.

After three years
