Okay, I finally caught up with the second chapter and then read the whole thing again just so I remember the details.

It's really well written Mini. Extremely poignant and heart-breaking - how cruel are you going to be to poor Kalpana.

I found the riches to rags a bit extreme - can't afford water and gas in less than one generation is extreme for that kind of back story - but it's good that Kalpana is loved by her own father, Paakhi and her mother.

As for her own mother, bitterness is sometimes hard to explain but I do feel there's more here than meets the eye since she does not seem to blame the father as much as the child.

Wonderful update Mini! You are right...All good stories need good foundation... a lot of explaining as to why things are the way it is...Liked the background story you gave for Yadavs, Singhanias and Kapoors... Here there's no revenge drama, atleast not yet... The only evil ones seem to be Kamala and Prem...😆

Like the fact that Neetu treats Kalpi like a daughter and even warned Prem not to go near her...Pakhi is a sweetheart to Kalpi and thinks of her as ayounger sis...Kalpi is also a good influence to her in studies as well as general behaviour...So Kapoors like it that they study together...unlike in ema...Nirmal is a man whom destiny has defeated and is the perfect example of riches to rags story...He is too proud to ask his ' once upon a time friend' Madhav Singhania for help whereas his wife thinks its their right... Does Kamala think their wealth deteriorated with Kalpi's birth? Is she holding her responsible? Is that why Kamala is bitter towards Kalpi? I'm wracking my brains here as to what made a mom behave such with her daughter...😕

Your story is going fabulously well...Curious to see the equations once the kids grow up...
