Part-15
Priya together with Pooja came to Raghav's home. They rearranged Kalpana's wardrobe. As per his instructions they were to leave before he arrives there with Kalpana. They had explained Mrs. Patil, caretaker of the house, her additional duties towards Kalpana and after getting call from Raghav regarding the food that she was allowed to eat, the chef was given the instructions accordingly.
After almost an hour and a half drive Raghav reached home with Kalpana. Both were having different thoughts yet on the same lines. They both were thinking about their life.
Kalpana was all ready to start her new life. She had accepted the harsh fact of life and felt theres no point in holding grudges against God. He is maker as well as breaker. If he has filled her life with darkness he only will send a ray of hope. She saw that ray of hope in Raghav. The way he had taken her care in hospital made her believe that he is a descent guy but it was difficult for her to trust on him completely.
Raghav was feeling nervous. All these years he had developed the habit of living alone and now this habit has become his way of living. He has to adjust a lot according to Kalpana's way of living. Somewhere its going to be more of like an Anger Management Course for him. Somebody has come into his life and that too by taking a way he never expected of but now he has to forget his schedules, routines for a while which was not that easily acceptable for him.
The door bell rung and caretaker Mrs. Patil opened the door with an Aarti ki thali. Raghav was quite amused seeing this but rubbed off his thoughts believing Priya must have told the lady to do so. May be this will give her a warm feeling. After Aarti Raghav led her in and took her to her room. Kalpana all this while was in awe of his home. When sister told her that he is a busy man she never thought he is such a big man. She was rolling her eyes all over the house with admiration. It was huge, stylish yet there was an essance of simplicity.
Kalpana entered into her room. Much to Raghav's surprise, as he hadn't planned anything for her welcome or to be more appropriate he didn't know that if he is calling her as his best friend he should do atleast this much for her, the whole room was decorated with balloons and flowers and there was written on the wall WELCOME HOME KALPANA. She had tear in her eyes which didn't go unnoticed by him. Slowly she said "Thank you for such a warm welcome Raghav. Its really beautiful." Raghav smiled at her and thanked Priya and Pooja in his heart.
Raghav gotta call and excused himself and went out of room. Meanwhile Kalpana took a glance of her room. It was spacious with a double bed and had side tables on either side. While one side table had a wireless telephone the other one had a photo frame having her photo. There was a couch spacious enough for one can sleep on it. There was a vase which had fresh flowers. There was balcony from which the lawn was visible. She liked her room. She mentally noted My Room.
Kalpana was tired and wanted to sleep since Raghav was still outside on his call she thought of going to bed herself. It isn't that she cannot walk but due to injuries she is still weak and there fore was not allowed to walk. She slowly got up from her wheel chair and tried to move towards her bed. She hardly took two-three steps and lost her balance. She closed her eyes in fear and imagined herself in hospital again. She didn't feel any pain. She was confused how after falling she cannot feel pain. She opened her eyes slowly and met with dark brown eyes of Raghav who was looking at her with concern, shock and worry. They had a brief eyelock when suddenly Raghav's phone rang again and broke it. Without seeing who the caller is he disconnected the call.
"What were you trying to do?" Raghav asked in a tone which reflected anger as well as concern.
Kalpana lowered her eyes and replied in a low voice "I was trying to reach the bed"
Raghav looked at her with questioning eyes.
Kalpana continued " Actually I was bit tired and wanted to sleep but you were busy on call so I thought I should help myself and..."
Raghav cut her sentence in mid and said "So you thought why should I call you I should go by myself!! Right!!"
" Kalpana don't do this again!!" Raghav said in an authoritative tone.
She nodded her head. She knew she was wrong and if she would have fallen on the ground consequences could have been critical.
Raghav called out for Mrs. Patil and asked her to help Kalpana in adjusting her on the bed. Raghav was about to leave when Kalpana said "Sorry"
He smiled and replied " You don't have to say it. I know I was a little louder but then I was just worried for you and I know you wouldn't do anything stupid to show your heroism." Kalpana smiled on listening this and went to her bed.
Raghav went for his office only to meet a curious Sammy who was pacing to & fro in his cabin. " Sammy you are already fit I don't think so you need to walk this fast to reduce your weight. Take it easy."
" Take it easy my foot!!!" Sammy yelled. Anger evident in his voice.
YOU rejected Mirchandani's call. What on earth made you do this? He is the same Mirchandani whose project was once prestigious to you. Raghav!! You know what he was so enraged with you that if I had not handled the matter you might have lost the project"
Raghav realised that the call he rejected was of one of the most important client of him. He started burning in anger and was about to curse Kalpana for the same but stopped. " What has she to do with it? She didn't stop me from picking the call, it was I who rejected it on my own discretion. Why should I curse her? I left her alone in the room when I knew its her first day and she may feel awkward in asking for help. Damn!!! Raghav, you need to learn maintaining balance between work and Kalpana as soon as possible."
He came out of his thoughts when Sammy snapped his fingers before him. Raghav looked at him when Sammy said " What?? You look lost. Listen as of now I have told Mirchandani that you are facing crisis on personal front and that there must be some emergency coz of which you rejected his call."
Raghav thanked Sammy and called Mirchandani to handle the matter.
" Hello Mr.Mirchandani I know you must be annoyed with my behaviour but I had an emergency due to which I had to reject your call. I hope you understand for you know Raghav Singhania never keeps anything before his business so if I have rejected the call there must some big reason behind it."
" Mr Singhania I know you quite well as a businessman. I know how you are. Actually I had a very important point on which I needed a meeting to be called by today itself so I called you up. Sammy told me you have some personal crisis so I guess we should leave it for now"
" No no its not required. I have handled my personal crisis and it was call of that moment that I rejected your call. We can keep the meeting after lunch and discuss the point" Mirchandani agreed with Raghav and he hung up.
This was Ragav Singhania, even though the client was important yet he didn't apologise. In fact he said the whole thing in such a manner as if what he did at that moment was the only option left with him. He looked at Sammy and smiled who reciprocated equally.
Kalpana had her lunch all alone. In hospital Raghav was always there with her. They use to take lunch and dinner together but today he was not there and probably won't be there with her during lunch time ever. Kalpana had got an idea on seeing the huge mansion that he is indeed a Big Man and cannot be by her side all the time. Hospital was different but now she is at home and so she has to learn to eat all alone.
The meeting went well and Mirchandan tried to know what was the personal crisis since for the first time Raghav Singhnia has excused himself for a personal thing." Mr Singhania has never ever given any personal excuse what was it that he kept it above his business" Sammy was smart enough to handle him and said " Mr Mirchandani personal things are personal. It isn't shared with anyone. Hmmm". Mr. Mirchandani gave a fake smile and left. Sammy shook his head in disgust.
Raghav, May I know what happened due to which you didn't pick his call? Sammy asked him inquiringly.
"Sammy, Kalpana was about to fall ( and he remembered their position and eyelock unknowingly a small smile came on his lips but he soon hide it for he knew if Sammy notices it he will be grilled with further questions ) so I didn't pick the call and saved her from falling"
"Raghav what was she trying to do?" Sammy asked
" Well she wanted to sleep and since no one was around so she thought to help herself and in that process she was all set to hurt herself again" Raghav replied.
"Okay its evening the meeting went quite longer than I expected it to. I am leaving for home she must be waiting. Chalo see you tomorrow. Bye" After saying so Raghav left without waiting for Sammy's answer.
" Only a girl has the power to change even the toughest man on earth" Sammy thought to himself.
Raghav reached home and went straight to Kalpana's room. She was reading a magazine and was yawning while turning the pages. It was of automobiles and she wasn't understanding anything. She looked up and saw Raghav who was in his suit with a laptop bag in his hand and was looking extremely handsome. She smiled on seeing him and asked "How was the day?"
"It wan't bad at all. Tell me yours." Raghav replied
"Well it wasn't bad Mrs. Patil is really nice lady you know come what may she always have blank expression. God!! How does she manage to do that. I mean though its my first day and its too early to form an opinion but you know when I was eating my lunch I grimaced looking at food. I mean I expected it to be better than hospital but it seems like you have given strict instructions to your chef to make an exact replica of hospital food. Same taste it gave me a feeling as though I am in hospital only but layout has changed. But that lady she didn't react to it at all!! I mean she should have said something but no she didn't. Apart from that my day went well. I mean I read this automobile magazine twice but failed to understand anything. I asked one of the servants if theres anyother magazine but he said its either this or related to stock market. Apart from that my day went really well." Kalpana answered sarcastically.
Raghav laughed at her sarcasm. He found this side of Kalpana really cute. It had the honesty together with innocense. She was complaining to him with a smile on her face. Raghav said "Okay!! So it didn't go well. Don't worry though you are not allowed to read much but still I'll bring some novels for you. Romantic ones okay"
" Romantic!! I don't know Raghav but I think I won't like it. May be romantic novels were not my choice. I don't know but...if you don't mind don't bring romantic novels."
Kalpana said in a confused tone.
"Okay!! No romantic novels. I'll buy something else."
Raghav went to his room to freshen up and again came to Kalpana's room. She was still busy reading the automobile magazine for the third time.
" Kalpana its dinner time and leave this magazine you don't have to appear in any exam that you are mugging up the stuff written in it. If it doesn't interest you leave it. I told you I'll bring novels for you. C'mon leave it now. Lets have dinner"
Dinner arrived but this time it was something different. Kalpana's eyes went wide on seeing the food. No longer tasteless food of hospital she thought but soon she narrowed her eyes when she saw the butler keeping the food back again after serving it to Raghav. Now her food came out which was same as it used to be.
Raghav was about to take a morsel when he looked up at Kalpana who was fuming over him. He raised his one eyebrow to know the reason. " You call yourself my best friend. What kind of friend you are? Here I am eating this this tasteless food and you...you have to eat the same food."
Now Raghav's eyes went wide. Eating hospital type food for 2-3 days is okay but eating it for a month is like giving yourself a punishment for the sin you never committed. He tried to oppose her but then realised its not about food. Kalpana's demand is in a way a step taken by her towards their friendship. She aksed him to eat the same food coz somewhere she felt I will fulfill her demand by not saying NO for it. Yes!! Kalpana has slowly and gradually started acknowledging his friendship and he cannot loose the opportunity of strengthening it further by denying to eat hospital type food. After all it was just a matter of month. He will manage. Raghav smiled at Kalpana and asked the butler to change the food.
When a person doen't see anyone else around him/her apart from just one person he/she starts trusting that person only if he is descent and cordial in nature. Kalpana never found anyone else apart from Raghav and was descent and cordial in nature she slowly started trusting him. Raghav knew he is not good in making relations in personal life and if Kalpana meets anybody else chances of him earning her trust will reduce. So he didn't allow anyone to meet Kalpana. Sammy had also stopped coming to his home.
They both needed time since this phase was new to both of them.
