waiting for the wedding

The long awaited Vihaan Kalpana wedding is here. I am not a very ritualistic person and don't really believe in grand wedding ceremonies, so I am not sure if I did justice to this part.

But I promise to do justice to the Suhaag Raat, as I do believe in it😉

Kalpana and her guests were staying in the guest house at the factory, while Vihaan's guests were staying at another farmhouse of a family friend really close by.

Vihaan was supposed to come down from Mumbai in the helicopter.

The wedding was supposed to take place early evening, just before sunset.

Vihaan had ordered the whole house grounds to be decorated with fairy lights and flowers. The whole place looked like a fairyland. The Gazebo was the site of their wedding Mandap and more flowers decorated the place. It was a beautiful evening and the setting rays of the sun the beauty of the place was absolutely staggering. The whole atmosphere was totally intimate rather than ostentatious.

The place looked like one where Gods and Goddesses would have got married and it felt as if Gods would be coming down and showering blessings on the lovely couple.

Kalpana was wearing a very heavy Lehenga Choli in deep red colour. The golden embroidary work done on the outfit was magnificient and it made her beauty shine. She had worn very minimal jewelry, as the dress itself was a jewel. She had worn a single necklace, big gold jhumkas, a Maang Tikka, Kamarband and multiple bangles, including the one her mother-in-law had gifted her. She slowly fingered it and a beautiful smile came on to her lips. She looked at the dark colour of her Mehendi on her hands and felt blissful, but why should she be surprised as she knew that Vihaan loved her immensely.

Her face was made up so beautifully by the beautician that Kalpi looked at the mirror in wonderment. Was it her face, her eyes, her lips that were staring back from the mirror? Her loveliness seemed alien to her own eyes.

Neha looked at her and hugged her and said, "It is a good thing that you would be wearing a Ghunghat, because if Vihaan saw your face, he would be too stunned to complete the rituals.

Her mom hugged her with tears in her eyes and said, "Kalpi you look so beautiful like a princess. I am so happy, that you are finally getting all the love that you deserved and never got. I am really sorry that I never showed the love and affection you wanted, but I do love you and wish you all the happiness in life."

Kalpi who had a pure heart and was so happy that she could forgive even a devil today, could not bear her mother's tears hugged her back tightly and said, "I love you too, Aai."

Vihaan's helicopter landed on the grounds. He and his parents got down from the helicopter. Vihaan's heart was beating like a drum, he was so excited. He had not slept for days now, so impatient was he to make her his own. His Mom held his hand trying to quell his excitement, but his restlessness could not be stilled.

Vihaan's mom looked proudly at her son. He looked handsome beyond belief in a cream coloured sherwani with silver coloured threadwork. His excitement about the wedding gave an added charm to his looks.

She herself could not be happier. Even though she had not told anyone, she was always worried that Vihaan would marry one of the American models that he had previously dated. The day she had realized that Vihaan was in love with Kalpana, she was relieved. Today her son was getting married to a girl they all loved and who loved them in return and heart was joyous.

The bride's family welcomed Vihaan and his guests with the Aarti and escorted him to the Mandap. Every guest at the wedding was enraptured by the look of happiness on Vihaan's face.

Vihaan sat at the Mandap heart pounding. He could not wait to make her his. The Pandit conducted the Pooja for the groom and Vihaan's heart was getting more and more impatient to see his future bride.

Kalpana walked slowly towards the Mandap, her head and face covered with a veil being escorted by her mom and Neha. Her heart was singing and she was surprised to feel no nervousness at all. Her happiness was threatening to spill over and she felt as she was flying.

Vihaan just was awestruck when he saw his bride walking towards him. He could not see her face, but her beautiful body was looking mesmerizing in the red and gold lehnga choli. He wished he could see her face, as he knew she would be more gorgeous than ever before today.

Vihaan and Kalpi exchanged beautiful rose garlands and Vihaan tried to see his bride's face, but Kalpi kept her head lowered the whole time and her veil did rest of the work.

Kalpi came and sat demurely beside him and felt a sense of intense elation as if every dream in his life was on the verge of fulfillment. The priest completed the various poojas and then Kalpi's dad did the Kanyadaan and gave Kalpana's hands in Vihaan's hands. Vitthal had tears in his eyes as he handed over his most precious possession in Vihaan's hands, but he was also glad that he was handing her over to someone who was really worthy of his princess. Their whole family had fallen in love with Vihaan. Vitthal who had never really warmed up to Raghav felt exactly the opposite about Vihaan.

Taking Kalpana's hands in his hands felt like a defining moment in his life and he made a promise to ensure that every moment of his life would be spent making this angel happy.

They both got up for the Saat Pheras and Vihaan and Kalpi really made every promise with their whole heart and pledged to do everything to fulfill each one of the seven vows.

Seven Vows In Hindu Wedding

• The bride and the groom take the first step of the seven vows to pledge that they would provide a prospered living for the household or the family that they wold look after and avoid those that might hinder their healthy living.
• During the second step of the seven pheras, the bride and the groom promise that they would develop their physical, mental and spiritual powers in order to lead a lifestyle that would be healthy.
• During the third vow, the couple promises to earn a living and increase by righteous and proper means, so that their materialistic wealth increases manifold.
• While taking the fourth vow, the married couple pledges to acquire knowledge, happiness and harmony by mutual love, respect, understanding and faith.
• The fifth vow is taken to have expand their heredity by having children, for whom, they will be responsible. They also pray to be blessed with healthy, honest and brave children.
• While taking the sixth step around the sacred fire, the bride and the groom pray for self-control of the mind, body and soul and longevity of their marital relationship.
• When the bride and the groom take the seventh and the last vow, they promise that they would be true and loyal to each other and would remain companions and best of friends for the lifetime.

The priest then asked Vihaan to put the Sindoor in his bride center parting and put the mangalsutra around her neck.

Vihaan who was dying to see his bride, lifted her veil and was absolutely staggered by her ethereal beauty. Her shy, glowing looks mesmerized him so much that for a moment he just stared at her. Suddenly she smiled and gestured with her eyes, towards the Sindoor in his hand and he came back to his senses. He put the Sindoor and Mangalsutra and he found his hands unsteady, as he could not believe that finally his Kalpana would come into his life forever.

Everyone was congratulating them, and they both had a smile on their lips and were accepting their wishes but not really aware of anything other than each other.

Both Vihaan and Kalpi were in a daze of happiness that felt too overwhelming for their own hearts.

Their longing to be with each other was overpowering and all Vihaan wanted to do was kiss her senseless, while Kalpi wanted nothing more than to be in his arms.

Every moment seemed to be passing in slow-motion. Finally Bidaai was done and Kalpi suddenly felt the reality of being separated from her family and tears filled her eyes. Vihaan took her hands in his and made a silent promise and suddenly all the fears flew away and Kalpana felt happy again and she hugged her parents and brother lovingly but without sorrow.

Vihaan's mom then did her Grihapravesh with an Aarti and as Kalpi entered the house after kicking the vessel of rice and coins, she just prayed to God to give her the ability to bring happiness into Vihaan's and his family's life.

As she took each Kumkum coloured step into the house, her heart continued to chant her beloved's name.

All the functions were over and all guests had left. Vihaan had arranged for a huge team of workers for doing the clearing up so that thewhole grounds could get cleared within a short time and then Vihaan had asked all the staff to leave.

Finally Vihaan and Kalpi were alone and Vihaan pulled his beautiful bride into his arms and hugged her tight and then his mouth captured hers in a electrifying kiss which sent shivers of intense pleasure shooting through Kalpi's body.

He removed his lips from hers looked into her passion filled eyes intensely and said huskily, "Welcome to our new life, Mrs.Kalpana Vihaan Malhotra".

Kalpana who suddenly felt surprisingly shy lowered her eyes and said, "Thanks for the welcome, my darling husband".
